This place was so bad!!! The absolute worst Indian food I’ve ever had. Went in as a party of 7 and paid over 200 $ for food no one even touched! The funny thing is when asked what’s good there, the server said«everything» with a smirk. Only to realize later none of the 7 entrees we ordered was even edible! Everyone left angry and super hungry!!!

This was an excellent flavorful meal, with very friendly service. I got the saag paneer and my boyfriend ordered the sambar soup and some onion naan. We have lately been very good about stopping eating when we are full, but this was so god that we just couldn’t stop and we had to walk it off later with a nighttime hike up Mt. Tabor. Which was also a delight. And it was not too crowded for a Saturday night :) Happy to return here next time we are in town.

Really friendly service. We brought out toddler and they were friendly and helpful about getting something that be good for her. Everything was flavorful, and it seemed like they were genuinely excited to share their food/experience with their customers. Small issue where we were brought a drink we didn’t actually order, but overall the experience was really positive!

If you have any self respect, save your dignity and DONOTGOTOTHISRESTAURANT! The service is absolutely horrible. My husband and I came here for the first time on my birthday for a nice dinner. We arrived there 40 minutes before closing time. While we were waiting to be seated, the staff member came and told us «we are about to close for the night.» I then reminded him that there was still quite some time left before closing. He then said, very rudely, «Yeah but we are too busy.» I looked around and noticed that the restaurant was only about 40% full. There were plenty of open tables. So we left, disappointed. But guess what? I will for sure never come back to this place and will surely tell my friends and family NEVER to come here.

Found this place on Unilocal.Decided to give it a try, so this would be my first time going here. The food was ok. There wasn’t anything special about any of it. The place is not good for vegetarians. Very limited options available.

The owner was not here today… he usually doesn’t charge us for our 2 years old son since he barely eats, if he eats, it would a piece of chicken and some naan. Today, the guy who was there charged us $ 6 for our son! He was not friendly at all, so we just paid and left.

This has been my favorite Indian food in Portland over the years. I remember when it was in the same building as the Hawthorne theater. I love Indian food and there are not a whole lot of options in PDX. I have tried them all. While there are some very good spots just out of the city this is the best in town. I usually judge a place based on their Palak Paneer or Saag. You will not be disappointed.

Since this place opened(years), I have only dined in or done takeout for dinner.(I hate buffets with a passion. Don’t judge this restaurant on the lunch buffet… If you judge your restaurants on bulk, crowd-funded food that everyone breathes on, you should rethink your dining choices.) First off, I’ve had better Indian food… But not in Portland. We’re swimming in Phở and Pad Thai, but the Indian Restaurants are nowhere as numerous as the brew pubs. Dwarka’s menu is mostly northern Indian, meaning the sauces are full of cream and there are several paneer(fresh cheese) dishes. Vegans can’t eat here, but vegetarians can. I get all my favorites here: creamy tikka masala and sauce-less tandoori chicken. They use sturdy take out packaging. The service is always polite and timely. Con: For working-class people, it’s expensive. Two entrees, an appetizer and a side of naan can cost $ 35(without tip). Pro: If this is takeout, you’ll have enough food for 4 – 5 meals. Note: If you’re a honky who describes the gravy on Salisbury steak as «spicy», the lingering warmth you’ll get at Dwarka may be too much for you.

Service was excellent, food was mostly excellent. It was some of the hotter Indian food I’ve had, none of this«how hot» business. We were sweating. However the goat curry was not good. I had never had goat before and the sauce was out of this world but the meat itself was tough, stringy and filled with bones. I’m really sorry there was this bad mark on an otherwise excellent dining experience.

Only came for the Lunch buffet for $ 9.95 great variety of food including naan, lentil soup, tandoori chicken, eggplant curry etc. I’ve been here twice for lunch and their food buffets do change but not very much.

Went here with a friend who likes the Paleek Paneer. but I tried the Korma for I’m a big fan of it. I was unimpressed though. It was so so. This was my first time though, and it wasn’t awful… but just was«ok». The veggie samosas looked good and really I should have tried what my friend had recommended… so perhaps next time I’m in the area I will. The service was good and friendly.

In the past would have given 3 or even 4 stars. Always had dinner, never the buffet, and it was delicious and fresh. Had the buffet last month and the rice pudding was old and sour. The chicken curry was not fresh either. Same with some other dishes. Will not be returning.

They gave out take out order to someone else. Had to wait for it to be remade. Doesn’t make me feel very good about their consideration to food allergies! All the dishes(we ordered three) were incredibly spicy-I couldn’t even eat them & I have a good spice tolerance. There was no warning of the heat. Not that we would want more of this bland(other than the heat) good but portions were very small considering the price! The garlic nan was not very flavorful. At least there was enough rice for six dishes? What?! Super disappointing.

Now the craving for Indian food is hard to resist when you are an Indian and haven’t had one in like 4 days though your gut feeling says that nothing can beat them than what u get in Cali Bay Area, but hey after all we need to know how Portland is handling curry ! So we headed over to this place to grab a to go for dinner. Pro : 1: This place is at a prime spot. 2: Appetizers are 3 stars specially the chicken dishes. Cons: 1: Customer service is not good. 2: when asked for complimentary papad to go(available for dine in) the sever states Budget issue, how lame ? 3: Curry was made«very» spicy though we asked for spicy. 4: Naan was not soft and became harder in an hr. 5: pretty expensive for the quantity given. Conclusion: If you are in the area craving Indian food and you have no car or means of transport this may be a good choice but if you do have one and with time in hand there are much better options out there.

Not gonna lie, I wouldn’t have tried this place except totally at random — which is how I walked in on October 1st, as this location is right around the corner of a specialty retail store I frequent… and, as I’d just visited that specialty store, I was particularly hungry on this historic day. Along with my slightly dazed companion, we mosied in just after they opened and found a seat right next to the ‘buffet’ line. Now, the word buffet is in quotations here, because it’s exactly what you expect from an Indian ‘buffet’ — maybe a dozen hot plates with assorted soupy and meaty contents to mix and match. Not that the presentation matters(much) when you’re in that particular mood, amiright? Just a few minutes after pushing in through the door we were busily devouring plates(the food was so good we ate the plates too!) and soaking up sauce with that fine flat bread on offer. Several return trips belie the small selection, as the flavors begged for another sample. We exited the small establishment staggering(moreso than when we’d entered), bellies full to bursting and quite content on the day — and it was barely noon! The buffet and a drink + tip is a $ 15 lunch but worth it every now and then. The servers were prompt and kept my drinks full, and the table cleared. The space itself is a smaller, narrower storefront pretty well appointed but not too fancy. We were there early enough to just grab our desired seating but I’d guess it gets busy enough to make for a wait during busier times.

Love Indian food. The poppadum to start the meal were a nice touch. The chutneys with them were varied and good. Had to keep eating them to decide my favorite. :-) Had the butter chicken(makhani), which is our«go to dish» when eating Indian. It was good, but not something I’ll dream about. Also had the eggplant masala and the onion naan. Split a kingfisher beer. Overall a good place. Ambiance is nice, pleasant, welcoming.

The spice is back in SE! So I’ve been complaining for a few years that there was no good Indian food left in SEPDX. I’ve been out of the loop when it comes to Dwarka. Great buffet! My buddy and I went here specifically to give it a try in the hopes that SE still retained some quality Indian food. Excellent choices for the buffet. Special props for the wonderful peas and potatoes, and the real standout for me, the eggplant with vegetables. Dwarka adds a nice amount of spice to their dishes just to give you a bit of a sweat. Being a veggie I was really satisfied here, although I think the chicken and goat offerings were a bit thin for meat eaters. Regardless, I really was glad to find this place. It’s super clean, the staff is very friendly, and you feel very welcome. Negatives? The buffet could use some more choices, and the salad was very dissapointing. Just lettuce and cucumbers and oranges. Not really fit for a buffet, and the dressings were all gone. Pakora was just potato, so basically french fries. I’d like to see some more authentic ones here. Overall, just a great place for lunch. I will be back for sure. So glad to see this part of town still does Indian and does it well. Give this place a shot, you’ll have a happy tummy.
