Great experience today. Our server was patient, funny and personable. There was no wait time and was seated immediately. I got the Paleo Plate and the Yam not fries, which were delicious. My partner got the lil miss piggy burger which he enjoyed very much. Everything was cooked right. There was a slight problem with the soda and our server was quick to remedy the situation. Everything was great and I am delight that there are multiple locations. This is a fun place with great atmosphere and excellent food. Both those with dietary restrictions and no restrictions will be able to wet their appetite here. Thank you again!

Fine burgers; great selection of low-carb meals; small but totally adequate beer and wine list; quick and accurate service; reasonably priced; classic rock background music. Our first time at Dick’s, we’ll be back.

The best burgers in Portland bar none! I tried both their wild boar burger and French Onion burger on two separate visits. And both times the food and customer service were great. The quality of the meat for their burgers is quite high and they know how to cook and season the meat to bring out the more subtle natural flavors without killing it with salt or smathering it with heavy sauces. You can really taste the difference and definitely won’t walk away after a meal here feeling bloated or overdosed on sodium and grease.

My favorite burgers in Portland. I tend to get the buffalo burger because the meat is so juicy and delicious but I have also really enjoyed the vegan burger made with tempeh. Their special sauce is freakin delicious also with the burger and even with the not-fries. Always get the not-fries. I am also a huge fan of this place because they serve Reed’s ginger beer. *heart eyes*

Got a burger for takeaway and did not regret it… Perfectly medium cooked juicy burger and I loved how the bun held together! Also those air cooked fries are unbelievable. They were crispy and delicious without being greasy and making me feel weighed down. 4 stars because I didn’t get to have it freshly cooked and warm but still so delicious for a «healthier» burger

Meh. The Caesar Turkey bowl was actually quite good. The turkey was flavorful and the dressing(vegan) was unique but also good. The salad was large for $ 11 but really should have been served in a slightly bigger bowl than it was — I kept fearing that the lettuce was going to jump ship while cutting into the generously portioned turkey patty. Just a minor annoyance. One of the water glasses placed on the table had leftover lipstick that the dishwasher missed. I get it, it happens. Still, a little eww. Lipstick just wasn’t my color, knowwhatimean? The server did her job, and that was it. Didn’t crack a smile the entire time, didn’t offer to refill the plastic water pitchers that they place on the tables and don’t wash more than once a week(just assuming). They were busy on our Saturday visit, but the meal felt rushed and not very friendly. Probably won’t bother with a return visit, there are way too many places to explore in Portland with much better service. Places that put ice in your ice water ;)

I really don’t eat much beef anymore and its rare to find a really tasty alternative. The best kept secret is that tasty turkey burger, Simply the Best. Great service and Great food, isn’t this what we are all looking for.

Oh I love Dick’s Kitchen. It’s the perfect casual, prompt-but-not-too-fast, something-for-everyone relaxing dinner place. The air-baked yam not fries are just gosh-darn amazing. As are the burgers and the salads. You can eat paleo here, but if that’s not what you’re looking for, you could easily never know it’s a paleo-oriented restaurant. Vegetarians will be happy, vegans will be happy, and blood-thirsty carnivores will be just as happy too. And stay for dessert! The coconut-ice-cream-based desserts are wonderful. We go here almost weekly.

Lunch today… Veggie plate, my friend had salmon burger. 3 choices from the sides for my sides i chose. Pickled vegetables, yam chips and saurkruat. Every thing tasted good $ 8.50 mmmm for me its pricey. My friends salmon burger came with nothing just the burger for $ 9.50 again pricey especially considering it didnt include anything eles like salad, chips, soup. You get a plate with your burger and thats it. Am i expecting to much? Not sure if i would rush back for a second visit. Staff was perfect

Welp Unilocal, the reviews didn’t lie. This place is amazing. Like all the reviews said, there is something for everyone here. They don’t try to be too adventurous as well which makes it easier. Even for the vegan burger it was«greasy» and just dripping with flavor. 1 con though: the bun is just a tad on the large side and could overwhelm the burger a bit. But, with that said, it is still one of the best burgers in Portland. Everybody needs to come here at some point and try out their offerings. It really is consistent with the reviews.

3.5 stars really but I’m bumping it up to four because it is a decent place to eat. And they have a variety of vegan, gluten free, paleo options. The food is quite good however i did find the burgers to be a little on the small side. A friend we came with had the tempeh Reuben and that looked much more sizeable. The food was tasty though we got a dork(duck/pork) burger with a side of kale and chard, I think it said sautéed however it was really wilted down much too far but still tasted great. We also had a miss piggy with a side of yam fries, a veggie burger and tempeh Reuben. With sides of fries. Also got the kombucha, ginger and raspberry these were really good! We got seated straight away however our server seemed a little ditzy and over ordered our sides we didn’t get charged though and kept asking us the same thing. Perhaps an off night for her!

If you eat paleo, you can actually eat here! Same for celiacs, vegans and vegetarians. I really love their yam«not-fries» which are baked and have no added sugar. Sadly they dont do combos with their burgers so you have to order the fries(and pay for them) seperately. Their rotating soup selection is generally mostly(if not completely) gluten free, and their soups are very tasty. If you are a vegan, you’ll love the coconut ice cream milkshakes! They have specialty game burgers including one called the Dork, half duck and half pork. I haven’t tried it yet but want to. If you order a burger you can get it on a house made potato bun, Udi’s gluten free bun, or served«naked» on a bed of butter lettuce. They have a bar and alcohol if you enjoy that sort of thing. I enjoy Dick’s, its a good place to take friends, especially when everyone in your group has different dietary needs.

I know that people are really into this place, and it’s not bad. But it’s not that good either. I had a very good venison burger, which I’m guessing is hard to find at other restaurants, so if that’s your thing, go for it. But the fries and broccoli were undercooked. Their homemade rolls are good, but big; they overpower the meat. The service was awesome, though. The people that work there are very nice, attentive, and are always available, it seems. I’d go back because it’s cheap, and you can get interesting meat.

Sometimes I pretend to eat paleo, and there’s no better place to pretend to eat paleo than Dick’s Kitchen. Sure you can quite easily REALLY eat paleo here, but I prefer to comment on how delicious all the caveman-approved menu items appear to be, and then just order a burger or something. Case in point: Today I was totally going to order a salad, but somehow ended up with an elk burger topped with a blueberry compote. Totally against my diet. Totally worth it. Got a dietary restriction? Dick’s Kitchen has options for you. Yes, options as in plural. They don’t just throw a bone to the gluten free or the vegan or the paleo. Nope, they’ve got selections out the wazoo. Filling, hearty, man-sized meal options. I can eat here, stick within my diet parameters(or totally blow them off) and not feel like I’m limiting myself. That’s awesome. Honestly, I’m surprised there aren’t more places like this in Portland. You should check it out.

Had a delicious vegan and gluten-free meal! They offer plenty of options for non-vegans/gf people/etc, but it was so cool to have multiple vegan options at a burger joint! Also their GF bun is reeeeally, really good; well worth the extra $ 1.75. Bf & I had tempeh burgers with fries(baked), braised kale & chard dish, and a chocolate coconut bliss«milkshake». Left feeling really full but nourished, like I’d just eaten a big healthy home-cooked meal, yet my taste buds just experienced burger, fries and milkshake!!! My only complaint was that we ordered the large side of fries and I’m pretty sure we got small, but the burgers were so big we didn’t even need any more food. Also it seemed like we were sitting strangely close to the couple next to us, felt like I was on their date too. This seems pretty typical in Portland however so I won’t dock ya. Thanks Dicks.

Dick’s Kitchen is a bit of an odd duck, as a hamburger-centric restaurant with a strong interest in health food and substitutes. If you’re looking for a dose of creativity with your classic burger, fries, and shake, this would be up your alley. Despite my strong skepticism of health food and substitutes, it’s not a bad place. I ordered one of their rotating specialty burgers, known as the Dork Burger(made up of duck and pork). I usually like my burgers fairly plain, so I eschewed most of the condiments, save an onion aioli(their house sauce), plus the pimento cheese I added to it. It came on a sourdough potato bun. I found the Dork Burger complex in its flavor, but not rich in the way duck can sometimes be. I found myself wishing it were a little juicier, too. The pimento cheese wasn’t particularly strong in its taste, which surprised me some. I like the aioli well enough, and can see it working really well on other sandwiches, too. My only real issue with the burger was a weird barnyard note I sometimes got in its aftertaste. I like game and don’t mind gaminess, but there was something that just kind of bugged me with the burger. I wonder if maybe they used wild boar in the mix, seeing as they advertised boar as another day’s specialty in the rotating list. That might make sense of it, seeing as wild boar is known to have a very strong flavor that can sometimes be hard to work with. Either way, I probably wouldn’t order the Dork Burger again if I came back here, though I wouldn’t say it was bad. As for the«not fries»(air-baked potatoes cut like fries), I was not impressed. They tasted to me a lot like how frozen French fries taste, devoid of that straight-from-the-fryer taste that I love. Bone-dry, salt-deficient, and cardboard-like in texture, I wouldn’t recommend them in the slightest. And I really wish that they offered real fries as an option, too, instead of this health food store item. For dessert, I ordered a salted caramel malt, which was very good. It was creamy and cold, with little pockets of melted caramel that went through the straw just perfectly. My friend’s strawberry shake was really nice, as well. My other friend ordered a strawberry shake made with coconut milk, which she liked, though I found a little reminiscent of sunblock for my tastes. If you’re able to have dairy, definitely go with the regular shakes and malts. Just a warning, though, they’re pretty spendy. Vincent Vega has a point here. $ 5(or more) is a lot to ask for milk and ice cream. Still, the shake was the strongest part of the meal here. Overall, Dick’s Kitchen was decent. I might come back here. If you go here and aren’t wild about substitutes, look carefully on the menu for other options. I definitely can see myself returning if the elk burger features on the menu. Or anytime I’m feeling a milkshake this summer.

I’ve been going to Dick’s for awhile, much to the chagrin of my boyfriends, but my ladies like it. I always get the Dicks-a-rita and its sooo delish! Last night I got CHARGEDFORORDERINGICE Yes folks they CHARGEDME $ 1PERDRINKFOR ICE-for ordering my margarita rocks. I think they have maybe some weird«PALEO» aversion to ice,(the water they bring never has ice in it) which I get, because I was once that hippy who never used ice because its not what the body is used to blah blah, but who charges for ICE!!! Plus the food kinda sucks now(portions shrunk, prices inflated) and the service kinda blows now too. so I think I’m maybe done with Dick’s ?? :/

I wanted to take a picture, I swear I did. Why because I take such great powerful pictures. Yes, I know it’s a little narcissistic of me. But, the power of «Dick» or rather Dick’s overwhelmed me. These burgers were inhaled, flat out inhaled. They were so good I wanted to rub them all over my body. Dick’s is a funky little place in an apocalyptic way. The staff wonderful, you’re in Oregon after all, the only state that would fail in almost any other state. But I wish there was a Dick’s in every city of every state. Their Guest Burgers are inspirational and the use of sustainable items is commendable. Next time the Dork Burger, ½ duck ½ pork! Mmmmmmmmm.

Gluten free? Check. Paleo? Check. Dairy free? Check. Vegan? Check. Don’t-give-a-rats-ass-about-any-of-these-diets-and-just-want-a-great-burger? Check. I don’t recall a restaurant where my entire dietary-challenged family can go to enjoy a meal. I also cannot recall a restaurant with a greater commitment to quality ingredients than Dick’s Kitchen. From the beef to the buns, everything is carefully sourced, and I appreciate that. The ambience on Belmont is casual; it feels like an old-school diner, but with a hip, Portland feel to it. I was surprised to find that the service was exceptional(I guess I’m a bit jaded by the many hipster Portland places that have great food but serve it with attitude). The wait staff here is as good as any 5-star restaurant. The burger meat has no fillers, and just tastes like good solid meat… reminds me of a burger I would make at home. That said, it could use a little seasoning, so I recommend getting the bacon and cheese on your burger to add a little something extra. Want something different, like lamb, boar, or bison… yep, they’ve got that too. Whatever you do, be sure to order the«not-fries». These little bits of heaven are some of the best French fries I’ve ever had. Looking forward to visiting again.

Good service, big selection for myself as well as my friend who is GF. Burger ordered medium rare was dry and lackluster. Sweet potato fries are excellent. Frankly… I’m surprised I could remember any item that came before the flourless chocolate cake! Put this place on your list for a warm chocolate cake.
