Ever since Marco Polo closed down, we’ve been searching for the perfect Sesame Beef. The search is over. China Rim has wonderful Sesame Beef! The owners are friendly and the service is fast. This is our go to restaurant.

I can’t say that this is the BEST chinese food I have ever had(it isn’t really Chinese food… it’s American«Chinese») but I have been coming here for over 10 years now and I have never been disappointed by their food or service. The owners are a wonderful couple that are super friendly once you talk to them for a bit. I have tried pretty much every item on the menu and I was not ever disappointed with the flavors. We regularly order the Orange Chicken, Sesame Beef(to DIE for!), and potstickers(which are homemade and amazing as well), and we are always incredibly satisfied. Other great dishes are the General Tso’s Chicken, Happy Family, and Mushu Chicken. The only downside I would say is that the menu rarely changes, but that doesn’t matter at all to me! Overall: Consistently great food!

Overpriced and not anything special in my opinion. The serving size for dinner is pretty small I was disappointed. I’m still searching for a great Chinese restaurant.

Gross! Worst Chinese food I have ever eaten. The shrimp smelled awful and was super greasy. The General Tso’s chicken was soggy and cold. The rise wasn’t much to desire. I paid 15.00 for lunch. What? Prices on the menu differed from what he charged me. Oh and the fortune cookie was super stale. Very disappointed. Doesn’t even deserve one star…

I read all the Unilocal reviews and decided to give it a shot since I live so close. I got take out on a Friday night: General Tso’s Chicken, House Special Chow Mein, Sesame Beef, and Shrimp with Tangy Sauce. I really wanted to love this place since it’s owned by a local couple, and I love Chinese food. But I also love really bold Asian flavors, and this place just didn’t have it. Everything was cooked and prepared well, just missing the sweet and tangy flavors that I crave in Chinese cooking. I probably won’t go again, and instead satiate my craving at Panda Express or Taste of Sichuan in Beaverton.

The food is really good! The prices are great too. I always get it to go, but it’s always been ready right on time and I’ve never had any complaints. My fiancée also really likes their food too and she’s a picky eater!

BEST restaurant ever! Husband and wife owners are so nice! ! We go here all the time! Best little hole in the wall restaurant! Every dish we have tried has been so yummy! We always order way too much food because we can’t decide on which dish to order, because they are all so good! ! :)

OK, my first american-chinese food review(being Chinese, my standards are really high). I have to say, this place makes really good food! Not too greasy and the owners(mom and pops I believe) are such helpful and hard working people, offering up friendly service all the time. My choice for lunch near work all the time.

OUTSTANDINGCHINESEFOOD * Excellent authentic Chinese food, consistently good for 15 years that we’ve been going * Not the kind of place to go for ambiance or to impress a date, just good food * Takeout is good if you avoid the high sugar sauces that tend to congeal, stick to wok items and fried rices * Great value and equally good food

Thinking of what to make for dinner is getting harder and harder, so tonight I grabbed Unilocal to see what restaurant was near my house that I haven’t tried yet in the 11 months that I’ve lived here. China Rim fit the bill, and the reviews seemed good so I gave it a try. My husband and I ordered 3 entrees to split between the two of us with the expectation that we’d have some leftovers for tomorrow. I drove over to get the food and found it ready much faster than the 15 minutes I was quoted on the phone which was great because we had put the decision off too long and we were hungry! We chose two items that had received good reviews, General Tso’s chicken and sesame chicken, and I had a taste for shrimp fried rice so I ordered one of those as well. The reviews were right about the whole meal! Everything had a very fresh taste to it, and it had a great aroma. The General Tso’s was really good. Crispy on the edges and not overdone in the middles. Surprisingly there was no rice included with that entrée. I’m guessing that they just forgot, or they assumed that the one container of fried rice would be enough for the two of us – but they were wrong. The sesame chicken was delicious, but not what I was expecting. It was fried, but in smaller pieces than the General Tso’s, and came on a bed of crispy noodles(I don’t know what they’re called, but they’re like crispy styrofoam extrusions). It tasted really good, but wasn’t what I was expecting. Again, shouldn’t that come with a side of rice, or were those noodles the preferred starch for that? The shrimp fried rice was very good as well and came with lots of whole shrimp. I thought it was a good amount. I’d get it again. When I ordered I didn’t check the prices online, but when I mentioned that I was ordering based on good reviews from Unilocal, the cashier mentioned that they didn’t know how to change the menu that shows up and the prices have gone up since that menu first appeared. I noticed another review that mentioned they felt taken advantage of by that price difference, so be aware of that I guess. The lady who helped me was very kind and pleasant and seemed to really want me to enjoy the food. We definitely did enjoy it, but I will make sure to check to see if we have enough boxes of rice before I take my bag and leave. We didn’t finish still hungry, but we didn’t have any leftovers either

The Mr. and I decided to try another local Chinese joint — and a strange thing happened. By the end of the three course meal, I didn’t feel as though I was slipping into a food coma… which is typically what happens each time I indulge in the art of Chinese cooking. Yet again, I was greeted with a hot pot of tea — WHOOO!!, gotta get excited about the little things, y’know? We ordered soup and spring rolls to begin with. I had the egg flower soup, which was prepared slightly different than I’m accustom to. This had bits of tofu floating about, which I had only had(fried) once before. Turns out that alien-bean-curd is pretty darn versatile. The spring rolls were served alongside sweet & sour sauce, and a mustard I’m assuming is mixed with horseradish — as my sinuses cleared immediately(appreciate that). The veggies in the rolls tasted very fresh, the exterior light and crunchy. I wouldn’t consider them too oily. I can’t speak for the Kung Pao across the table, but the General Tsao’s Chicken and streamed rice was alright. This is the second time I’ve ordered that dish since moving to Portland, and just like the previous joint, the sauce is a different color(amber) and taste than it is in the South. The sauce I’m accustom to is almost burgundy colored, and more spicy than it has been here. That aside, the crispy green beans were a nice addition to the mix. I noticed our waitress, who I assume owns the place, appeared very involved with her pick-up customers/dine-in guests, engaging with them on a personal level. However, she seemed to be in shock at how quickly we mopped our plates. She even commented, saying we had done a good job, almost cleaning the dishes. Not sure whether she was disgusted, or merely amused we ate like wolves. Either way, she seemed like a nice lady, and we’ll definitely be trying the Chow Mein next time.

I was skeptical when my friend dragged me in to China Rim. I’ve had more than my share of bad cheap Chinese food and frankly I didn’t feel like going for another round. Boy was I wrong! This is my new favorite place for Chinese. The chicken mu shu is guaranteed to please. The chefs special chicken is so good I have to stop myself from gorging on it. The thought of the pork fried rice is making my mouth water as I write this. The lunch menu is a steal too. Tons of food with a surprisingly small price tag. China Rim is perfect.

Non-chain privately owned and the owners, husband and wife, are wonderful people. Sesame chicken and house fried rice are my go to dishes. No one does it like they do. Service: They remember you, your kids names, your order, offer new suggestions, welcome your friends, and attentive yet unobtrusive service. Unilocaler — Lydia Q listed an outstanding review of the menu selection. Items are fast and HOT temp wise Dining room clean, kitchen appears clean. These are gracious kind people. If you have issue with anything let them know and I’m sure they will make it right.

We’ve had takeout from here a couple of times. Meh. I did not find it delicious. We tried a variety of things on the menu, and nothing stood out, no seriously, I would tell you if it did. We also felt duped by the good Unilocal reviews, and so confused we thought we should try it twice to see if we had gotten it on an off night. I don’t think so. It was so not good the second time we got rid of it and I made us some grilled cheese sandwiches. Sigh. Still on the hunt for the best Chinese we can find. Thoughts? ideas? open to help?
