The most wonderful, unassuming, yet still top-tier, coffee house with a Portland address… and there are obviously a lot of good ones in Coffee Mecca(aka Portland, Oregon). This is my favorite place in the entire city to spend an afternoon working. I drive all the way from Southwest for the people and just the wonderful spirit of the place… and of course, for the best cold brew in town(everything else will taste like old cold truck stop coffee after you try this). Their espresso and teas are fantastic as well. After having gotten to know the baristas personally, and hearing the story of Cathedral’s construction and founding, it is now obvious as to why I’ve always felt such a strong allure to be present in this space. This place is built on real love, as much as any commercial establishment I’ve ever encountered. They make all of their own pastries and are always looking for ways to innovate their various selections outside of coffee. On that note, I am ecstatic to try their new brunch/breakfasts that began this week! God Bless Cathedral Coffee!

Cathedral is one of the most interesting coffee spaces in North Portland. First, it feels large which is nice. Lots of seating and the place feels welcoming and warm. There’s fantastic graffiti art on the walls that encircles the space pulling together the warmer homey elements of wood and shelves covered in books organized by color. They bake their own pastries and I was told on Saturday morning that they are about to start serving breakfast. I’m very interested in what that will look like since I can’t do gluten(BUTIF I DIDSERIOUSLYTHEYHAVEANAMAZINGSELECTIONOFSWEETANDSAVORY). They also serve Tanglewood Chai which is made here in Portland. I would do a full five stars if I felt like their espresso beverages were consistent, but they’ve been hit and miss. Not anything bad, just not at a five start level. Great place to hang out and a nice out of the way spot. I’d love to see their small parking lot converted to a safer patio/bike area with some high counters for standing at. Maybe a little dog pen too. The cars trying to pull in and out can feel unsafe at times. It does look like they might be converting some other outdoor space into something special off to the side though.

Oh the smell and the layout! This place is welcoming and comfortable for a study day or a quick coffee run. What I love is there is both indoor and outdoor seating with couches, benches and armchairs by the big bookshelf. The staff were super friendly and helpful in selecting beans as a gift and I got a free drip coffee to go along with the purchase. The staff seem to know regulars and overall I would recommend this place to sit back and relax.

Stopped in for a meeting, and it was surprisingly good! A little bit spendy; the 8 oz mocha was $ 4.00. However, it was a great mocha. It wasn’t too hot, and it wasn’t too sweet, which is a problem I have with many mochas at other shops. At 10:30 — 12:00 on a weekday, it wasn’t too crowded, so it was perfect for a meeting.

Okay, this place freaking is it. Everything I want in a coffee shop. Great vibe, fantastic tea & coffee & sincere kind employees. All the wood décor and art makes me want to hang out here as much as I can.

I just want to be here all the time now. Good food, good coffee, good tables, good light, reliable wifi, wonderful employees… I only wish they had more gluten free baked goods, that would earn them six stars in my book. They did have a gluten free vegan vegetable soup that was big and delicious.

The coffee is good but a bit overpriced for the size of the drink. Love the interior. The staff should smile a little more or at least act like they enjoy their job.

Stopped by recently for a latte and bite to eat. It was a typical rainy day here in Portland, and I was in the area(I was also in the mood to try a new place). The space is larger than it looks, and had plenty of seating. Lots of windows and just a great ambiance. I wasn’t sure what to expect when I walked in but I was pleasantly surprised. Ordered a latte and blueberry muffin(recommended by the nice barista). Both were exceptional. The latte was nice and creamy, and the muffin was full of blueberries and had a delicious crunchy topping. Service was also really friendly and they had free Wi-fi that was very fast. Overall, a great coffee house that I would highly recommend. I will definitely be back the next time I’m in the area.

It’s not always so easy to find great coffee matched with a really pleasant coffeeshop. .. even in a coffee town like Portland. Cathedral Coffee does both. They serve great, carefully constructed coffee, and offer a pleasant, relaxed, inviting place to meet or think. One of our staff lives in the area — so we meet at Cathedral on a fairly regular basis. The environment is clean and comfortable — and the staff are super accommodating and friendly. I’ll keep going back to Cathedral — their coffee brought me in for the initial visit, but the friendly staff keep me going back.

This place was awesome. It has a good ambiance, the service was great, and the coffee and food were good! I ordered an Americano, a sausage cheddar roll, and raspberry, pear, and cinnamon coffee cake. I would definitely come back here if I’m in the area!

Excellent coffee! Warm and cozy interior. They have a little book nook with a table and some comfy chairs if you just want to relax. The staff is super friendly and not at all snobby about their coffee. My only complaint is that the food prices are a little high. I was really excited to try the jam, but when I opened it, it was a runny mess. Sorely disappointed. I will definitely still return to try some of their other tasty selections though.

I recently started a list of coffeeshops in Portland that I needed to check out. Some places left me underwhelmed, but Cathedral Coffee exceeded my expectations in terms of service and quality. The vanilla latte I ordered was fantastic, but if you order a 16 oz size, be prepared for a very big cup of coffee! I got the lemon poppyseed scone, but there are so many pastry options that I will definitely be coming back. Overall, if you are in the area, this is definitely a place to check out.

I’m not big on coffee, but I do love a good coffee house. I was visiting a friend(I live in Vegas) and this little place is just a short walk from her house. We went in for a quick breakfast before getting our day started. The environment is great. Nice and cozy while still feeling open. Probably helped that the walls are the roll up door type. They were open about halfway to let the cool morning air breeze through. I got the sausage roll, it was pretty tasty. They warmed it for me and everything. The service is friendly and upbeat, too. The place was kept clean and I have no complaints. Prices are affordable as well.

I stopped in on my lunch break and the shop was pretty full. The line moved quickly and the barista was super friendly. I got an iced coffee and a chocolate chip banana bread slice. THESLICEWASHEAVEN. Naturally I had to use a fork and be fancy since that bread was so good. My friend got a tea, quiche and the sausage roll and absolutely loved it. I liked how open and bright(one side of the shop opens out entirely) it was. I love that there is a parking lot and ample street parking!

I work at a coffee shop, but this place is by my other job and sometimes more convenient to swing through. I’m pretty sprung on their three cheese and spinach rolls. Seriously, all their food is amazing. Their espresso is good and I’m a big fan of the house blends. Plenty to choose from, with a super friendly staff. Give this place a try!

What a cozy place. Good coffee and a tasty lemon bar as we wait for our son who’s watching his school play for the state basketball championship. Going for the third straight championship(but you really don’t care about that do you) Wifi is strong and lots of laptops decorating the tables as ours work or surf away. I could easily hang here all the time, but it’s a little too far from West Linn.

Super friendly service and great coffee is what I look for and this place doesn’t disappoint. My boss actually brought me here once and i’ve been impressed each time i’ve visited. The lattes are simple and delicious, the pastries are good and the service is warm and accommodating. Also, the space is really cool and there is plenty of room to work or have a small meeting if you’re on the clock. If you’re in the area, you should definitely check them out!

This little gem was recommended by a dude I met at James John Café and then again at some food carts. I headed down, not really knowing what to expect and was EXTREMELY thrilled when I walked in. The guys behind the counter were warm and helpful, especially Austin?(I think that’s what I heard someone call him…) He’s the dude from Canada? Anyhow, I told him that I normally just drink drip coffee and I wanted to know about pour over. He was full of knowledge and was awesome in sharing what he was doing/why and the results. I also asked him to please decide which baked good was his favorite and slap one on a plate for me. I ended up with a delicious piece of zucchini bread and it was really cool to watch him and listen to him explain what was happening with my coffee. The space is beautiful! I love how bright it is and the great paint job. They have a little book nook(with books arranged by color), big tables to share with other folks or little tables in the back for a more one on one experience. Coffee dude came by to check in with how I liked the coffee/pastry, which I thought was nice. I’ve made it a point to check out as many coffee places as possible while here, and I can easily say that Cathedral is my favorite!
