Came in here last week and had an excellent meal with my brother. Very simple but delicious fare, had the Banh Mi and salad rolls, extremely fresh and delicious, the banh might had a perfect crusty bread and really delicious fillings, and I’m not sure the name but also got something akin to a salad roll but wrapped in rice paper and it was also delicious! When we visited it was one guy there seating and cooking everything who was extremely courteous, even making us food to go after we realized we didn’t have time to eat in, and he still gave us a pot of very nice Jasmine tea while we waited! Will definitely return.

I’m Vietnamese and BBH here have my approval The portion was generous, i can hardly finish a small bowl. I love the vegies that came with it Aside from BBH there are alot more choices i would love to try next time. TOMATORICE with fried chicken sounds gooddd

I’ve never had bun bo hue before so have nothing to compare it to but I do know that this soup tastes like a masterful creation of flavors in literally a perfect bowl of soup. The atmosphere – casual, bright and clean– and the friendly staff rounded out a great visit for me. I will be coming back for sure!

Am a fan of bun bo hue close to home on SE82nd, and had it a couple other places in town. this is a good one, rich spicy broth, generous quantity of meat, strange pork joint enriching my soup. noodles just a little soft. Tony though the meat in his rice plate was pretty tasty, but the sauce a little bland. took a little long to get our food, though the place fairly empty, but the server was friendly.

I ordered the bun bo hue dac biet. The noodles were on point! Nice and chewy. The broth, however, was more on the bland side. If the broth had been more flavorful(especially after adding the greens, bean sprouts, etc), they it would’ve been a lot better. Overall, it was okay. I’d come back if I was in a hurry and was desperate for BBH.

Eat here!!! I love this place. Perfect location, a complete hidden gem in the neighborhood. It’s a comfortable warm restaurant with great food and super friendly staffs. I love this place and location so much! I really wish though that they would have a chicken noodle soup in the menu soon. I love chicken and it’s my favorite type of meat. Welcome welcome welcome to the neighborhood guys and keep up the great work! Ps try their smoothies! Delicious~~~

Bun Bo Hue(pronounced BOOMBAWWAY) — literally meaning beef noodle from the city of Hue — is actually a bit of a misnomer. Although garnished with cuts of beef, the broth is mostly pork in origin and is spicy, sour, sweet and salty in flavor. Combine that with thick rice noodles and you have yourself a soup that will break your mouth it’s so damn good. I’d say this place is pretty decent in my book. I may have had better at home but this place settles a craving just as good any other. There’s only a couple other places where I’ve had better Bun Bo Hue but this one is much cleaner and closer than any of those restaurants by far. I keep this place on rotation and I always come back craving for more. Do yourself a favor and give this place a try.

On the mission to find new bun bo hue, we came across this place which was located in the shady area next to an adult video store. Service was okay, very lax. And when we ordered the food there are many options as to spicy level and meat cuts. The Bun Bo Hue itself is meh, as another reviewer mentioned the noodles are very chewy, very al dente which was nice. The broth however was wayyyy too salty and it lacked spiced(I ordered medium spice). If you’ve ever eaten Bo kho that’s how thick the broth was and despite the dark color of the broth it was flat, there were no other flavors or aromas. Very disappointing and overwhelmed with; salt, fish sauce and oil you really can’t taste anything else! Meat portions and noodles were sparse. The pork legs that came were not cooked throughly, very chewy not stewed long enough. I really wished this place was as good as it could have been. Hopefully they adjust their broth and recipe, until then DONOTEATHERE! I’ll be sticking to the place on 82.

Came by for lunch with my boyfriend on Sunday since we saw the place driving down 82nd and looked it up on Unilocal.Figured it couldn’t be all that bad, though it was new. My first impression walking in was that it totally did not smell like bun bo hue. It smelled like bun thit nuong. Odd, but whatever. Didn’t see any reviews mentioning the bun thit nuong. My boyfriend ordered the large bun bo hue while I ordered the small. While we were waiting for our noodles to come out, my boyfriend noticed they had a happy hour special for the bun thit nuong. Interesting… Might have to come back and give that a try. Anyways, we were kind of excited, hoping to find our new favorite bun bo hue place. Unfortunately, that didn’t happen. The bowls came out and I wasn’t overly impressed with the presentation. Oh well, you can’t always judge a book by its cover right? Sadly, here you could. The broth was rather bland and didn’t have much flavor to it. However, I have to admit that their noodles had a great, chewy consistency. Overall, it wasn’t horrible. But it just didn’t hit the spot. Wouldn’t recommend, unless you were really desperate and close by. We won’t be coming back for the bun bo hue, but maybe when we’re feeling adventurous, we might come back and give their bun thit nuong happy hour a try.

Great bun bo hue(BBH) and generous portions. I went with my husband on New Year’s Day to cure a slight hangover and they had shortened hours. We originally planned to get phở, but all the phở restaurants were super busy since everyone had the same idea so we decided to give this place a shot. First we drove by and weren’t sure they were open, only the front«open» sign was on. Went in, only two other customers in the store, clean overall and nice people. Honestly at these types of restaurants you should expect the same type of service, they don’t typically ask you how you’re doing, but they get your order and give you water and tea. We both ordered large bowls of BBH, asked for extra lime and mint(personal preference) and they gave it to us right away. Like I mentioned before, the portions were generous, plenty of well cooked noodles and various cuts of pork. I definitely plan on going back when I get a craving for BBH! :)

If you’re looking for a good Bun Bo Hue spot in the Portland area this place definitely hits the spot. The décor is pretty simple, but who really cares. The egg rolls are pretty tasty too.

I’m a firm believer that you should only order the namesake dish at a place that named their restaurant after it. They dish out a very respectable bowl of BBH here. The broth had a lot of depth to it, and the noodles had the right amount of chew. With BBH noodles, it’s very easy to either under or overcook them. The veggie plate they served was a bit sparse, but I hardly add any to my bowl anyways, and I’m sure they’d give you more greens if you asked. The exterior is very plain Jane and you could easily drive by without noticing it, especially since the store front is on the side/back. The interior, however, is clean and spacious, a nice change from the various other cramped hole-in-the-wall BBH joints on 82nd. The service was very quick and streamlined. So quick, that this would be a great place to pop in on a particularly cold day, chow down on a steaming hot bowl of BBH, pay, and bounce. I’ll be back!

Don’t let the first review deter you from trying this place. My friend and I went and the service was great, however we did have to ask for more water. The man who helped us was friendly. We were unfamiliar with the items on the menu, and they tried their hardest to answer any questions we had. When we got our food we were very happy. They serve large servings and the food was great. They had a lot sauces to use and and the environment was calm and relaxing. I’m looking forward to going back to try something new!

This was new and clean, that’s where the good ends, the menu was small which could have been good had they actually done it right. The service was overcompensated, I walked in and the guy behind the counter dropped everything and sprinted to seat me. Eager for business I guess… I ordered the special, it said it had pork shrimp and rice noodle. There were 3 other options. What I got was beef liver, chicken(not real but more like boars head deli style) broth – not phở broth more like grease and mild flavor, egg noodle. The side that should have been sprout, lime, basil, etc. Was chopped red leaf lettuce and sprouts. I left and ate elsewhere :(This was their grand opening, maybe they can get it right soon)
