Absolutely loved my visit to Breakside. Engaging, fun atmosphere, great service, drinks and food. I had the nachos which were amazing. The bartender even told me about a habanero sauce that they had which I tried. It was very spicy and amazing. I loved the seasonal IPA which was strong and flavorful. This will be on my MUSTDO agenda when I return to Portland.

Great beer. Great food. Slightly pricey. Stopped in on Wednesday night. There’s a decent amount of tables but just about everywhere was taken. Luckily we managed to snag a spot at the bar. The Lunch Break ISA was phenomenal. A lighter bodied IPA with hints grapefruit. Highly recommend. The buffalo chicken wings were pretty good, but definitely small for $ 9. This particularly felt overpriced. The break side burger was really good. Waffle fries even better. Service at the bar was great, no complaints.

Breakside is an awesome gastro pub, they are doing things right so far. Great beer brewed on site. Lots of different flavors and looks and tastes, they have consistent beers on tap but they do switch up their menu in the bar. They have the best Mac n cheese I’ve had in a min. And their hummus plate if perfect size, not too big not too small. Service is just okay, as it should be at certain joints. Just strait to the point. Not overly friendly which is fine and will totally do. Can’t wait for summer time since they have the large garage style doors on the building which will be a nice seating spot when it’s nice and sunny outside. Heard lots of amazing things about their food menu in general, that I really don’t believe you’ll leave here disappointed !(:

Great beer. I was a bit upset at how rude one of their servers was, but a couple of the guys made up for her in spades. They knew that we were upset with the treatment on arrival and made every effort to make amends. We love their beers. Sometimes a place gets busy and it’s hard to be kind to everyone all the time. So the fact that they put a huge effort into making things right with us really goes a long ways with me.

Nice Brewery with very good food. Beers: We tried the sampler and were able to choose the ones we liked. I loved the Pilsner, salted caramel stout and the lunch break ISA. The salted caramel stout would be a little deep for me for a large quantity but the other two would work for me anytime. Food: we tried the burgers and we loved them. The Lambwich was an instant favorite amongst all of us. I also liked the Pork Belly sandwich. For me personally it will be a hard choice between the Lambwich and the pork belly, as both were very good. The 4 stars are really for the burgers here as good beer is available at many places in Portland. Good beer and good food is a combination that I greatly appreciate.

Excellent beer selections that rotate frequently. They have some really fun, interesting seasonals. The service is pretty good and the food is awesome. Better pub fare than most places! It can be tough to find seating sometimes because of how busy it can get.

Big time suck. One of our party checked with the bartender regarding a table and was told to push some together and sit. Once we sat the hostess rudely told us that it was reserved for someone behind us but there was a booth upstairs. So we went upstairs there was no such booth. So we were offered waiting list. You know what? You guys can suck it. Good service can be found just down the street.

Fantastic environment, I mean it is Portland after all! My waitress was super helpful and didn’t let me order too much. Make sure you get the waffle fries with blue cheese. YUM! It was busier than I thought it’d be on a Wednesday at 4pm but I found a small table in the corner with no problems.

Me and my guy came here on a Friday night and got seated almost right away. There are a ton of tables for 2, seems like maybe not the best place to come with a larger group. That being said, the beer was seriously amazing. Got the sampler of 6 different beers and they were all super tasty. The food was good too, their pretzel appetizer was okay– they weren’t formed too well so half of the pretzel was super fat and doughy while the other half was stick thin and very dry. I got the reuben, it was one of the best ones I’ve had in portland. Seriously delish. Guy got the veggie mac, it was super cheesy and he seemed to quite enjoy it. We’ll definitely be back.

This place was great! Service was wonderful. We sat at the bar and they happily talked to us about drink specials and gave us suggestions for food. Food: Pulled pork nachos. We requested extra BBQ sauce on them, and they were DELICIOUS. We also got the Lamb burger with blue cheese waffle fries. The tzaziki and pickled onions were a great complement to the burger. We will definitely be going back next time we are in town.

Meh. The service was fine and the place was packed on a Wednesday night, but after tasting the food, I’m not sure why folks are so excited about this pub. The beer selection is large – the people at the table next to us left because they wanted a dark, thick beer and Breakside didn’t offer it. My red wine was better with food. The fries with blue cheese were cold when they arrived at our table. The next attempt was warmer but not hot – and the blue cheese was in big chunks and cold. Meh. My apple hazelnut salad was wonderful, and for $ 6, this is a rockin’ deal. More of this, Breakside. The Mac and Cheese with sausage and bacon was overcooked, over salted and mushy flat tasting. We might be back to sit outside on a warmer evening. With so many pubs in Portland that grab our tastebuds on first visit, it seems like a waste to return here, aside from that yummy salad. b

Definitely my favorite brewery in Portland. I love outdoor patio seating and romantic christmas lights. My ideal date. Sipping on a beer on cool night, outdoors, some lights. The panties are dropping. BB has it all! Great IPA, diverse menu of bar food. If you are cold, have no fear there’s indoor seating too. There’s seating by the bar, for you sports fan. Friendly wait staff. Small menu of beer, but great quality beer you don’t find in a lot of touristy places in Portland. I will definitely come back. Some recommendations I would recommend is to put an extra hot sign on the jalapeño poppers, because that was fire. I can eat spicy, but I couldn’t even finish one of the poppers on the plate.

Dare I say Breakside serves the best mac and cheese in the city?(Sorry Screen Door!) I mean, who puts gruyère in their mac? It was ridiculously thick and delicious. The portion they serve is enough for 2. The atmosphere is great and they have a nice sized outdoor seating area. We had a half hour wait so we decided to head over to Bushwhacker Cider right across the street for a sampler. By the time we were done there was plenty of open seating at Breakside. The service was friendly and fast. I think this may be my new favorite brewery in Portland.

I think this qualifies as my favorite brewery. I’m not much of a beer drinker, so having tasty food is the best way to win me over. Breakside supplanted my previous favorite brewery(who shall remain nameless as to preserve the integrity of the central Oregon river and tribe for which it is named) who refuse to make me my favorite burger that they took off of their menu and I know that they have the ingredients to make it, but they just choose to be bastards and not do it. So Breakside, you are in. The beers were fantastic though. Everyone in the party loved what they got. I even liked me some of their cider and«just the tip» spruce ale. How stinking creative… and yummy. But on to the food. My BIL and I split the Reuben. I actually am a big fan of the Rachel. More because I dislike sauerkraut and less because I love coleslaw. But here they marry the two together. I wish they would grill their bread instead of toast it. I also wish there was more meat(yup, that is what she said). But overall it had a really great flavor. Every burger that came out just caused me to drool more and more. I’ll be back for a burger, you can guarantee that. My cousin got the nachos which was a mountain of homemade chips and amazing toppings, at a great price too. Love me some good nachos. There were so many yummy food option that I’ll definitely be back.

A fine choice when in this wonderful NE neighborhood I just happened to bike ride right pass this place and I was like OUTSIDESEATING !! I turned my bike around and my friends followed. So the OUTSIDESEATING why am I yelling!?? faces East, so it has shade after 2 – 4 this makes for a very comfortable environment. They have tons of bicycle parking and long picnic tables that can be shared by 6 – 8 people. I just wanted some appetizers and a beer, this is what I had to munch on; **Buffalo wings~pretty nice, it come with celery and carrot sticks **Jalapeño poppers really like the execution on these because they’re sliced in half with a nice cheesy topping and a ranch dressing.(not spicy at all)~~~GETTHIS **Caesar salad~just ok, maybe it was the dressing? not sure if it’s made in house my guess is no. **Beer~what’s not to like here, Portland beer is as good as it gets. I had the Seasonal Summer IPA, very refreshing.
All and All I liked this place and when I’m in the area, I’ll stop in. Remember, Don’t Drink And Play Guitar.

Breakside has possibly the best burgers in Portland. Most of the menu is pretty darn good. I love love love the blue cheese waffle fries. The portions are all shareable. Outside picnic bench seating is nice on a hot day. They have a bar and a more restaurant style seating area. If you are at a table in the bar, you’re sitting on stools from your 8th grade biology class around a barrel. Not ideal. The barstools have backs and are more comfortable. Service can be slow, but it is a popular place. They brew there own and have a guest tap occasionally. The beers change, so give ‘em a taste and see what works for you.

We weren’t in town for long and I wanted to make sure we had a chance to visit my cousin before leaving, I also wanted to try a Portland Brewery and she had her little one with her so we needed something«kid friendly», don’t shy away from this place because I said«kid» trust me I’m a Mom but I don’t care for kids much and don’t actively seek out places that have them hangin’ about — what I am saying is if you do, this is a fine place to grab a beer if they’re in tow but there’s plenty of room to steer completely clear of them as well. Breakside totally worked, she suggested it to us and we agreed. Met her here on a Sunday afternoon. If you’re with the kiddos you will need to sit upstairs which wasn’t a big deal at all since it was a little breezy and cool out. I ordered a sampler, of who knows what. I know, this is a super useful review. They were out of a couple I wanted to try but I was more interested in seeing the fam and this is a good local spot to do just that. I’m more of a wine connoisseur than a beer drinker but had just finished the Portland half marathon so tossing back a few varieties before heading out to Seattle was enjoyable. Some of my selections were good, others not as great. If there were 6, I’d say half were good the other half not impressionable. Really, I just wanted to spend time with family and catch up. Service was quick, this is a good, relaxed open air spacious area to hang at. I’d return if in town. They are a full restaurant so the vibe is definitely different than that of a brewery only. I didn’t eat a thing so I can’t comment on the food. Neighborhood street parking was available, living in LA that’s pretty unheard of. No valet, no meters to pay, no tax on alcohol. Score!

Hmm… I’m not quite sure what all the fuss is about… Portland is chop full of microbrewery’s. I’ve heard good things about this one so I tagged along with some friends and chowed down during lunch on the pulled pork sandwich and drank two IPA’s. Everything was just okay. Honestly, nothing really stood out. Upon leaving all of us were in agreement that it’s kinda one of those joints, been there, done that, on to the next. Like I said, the food, service, and beer, wasn’t bad but it just didn’t blow me away. Maybe I came into this experience with high expectations but then again maybe this was a relationship that just wan’t meant to be. *sigh*.

Great pulled pork sandwich. Great dark beer. All perfect for a rainy day. I know a rainy day in Portland. Shocking. I’ve known of the Breakside through their beers that I’ve seen at New Seasons and other places. I just hadn’t had the opportunity to try them. I was in the area looking at rooms to rent, to no avail. I’ve been up on Dekum before to the Oregon Public House but nowhere else. I headed to the Breakside. It was busy because of a Seahawks playoff game but I found a spot to sit and order the above mentioned food and beverage. Nice atmosphere, not overly loud and more people flowing in after me. The servers were definitely flying around. Good service, good food. What more can you say? Enjoy.
