The staff here is fantastic. Suffice it to say that my wife and I were having a bad day and the staff went out of their way to try and make our day better. They are always friendly and the beer selection here is also fantastic. We come here with our kids often and strongly recommend it to parents and singles alike.

This neighborhood pub is really outstanding and I had the best time there yesterday. The Hot Toddy was just what I needed for my sore throat and I must of downed about three of them. Jenny P. started us off with the bacon wrapped prawns sautéed in an herb, butter and wine sauce — dear Lord, they were incredible. They were totally worth my drive to the East Side. The Cobb Salad also, was artfully prepared, the chicken strips very tender and and the balsamic vinaigrette was light and perfect. The décor is warm and inviting and the service friendly and attentive. After a brisk, wintery walk, a cozy booth was a perfect place to while away an afternoon. The space is small and seemed to be quite popular with the neighborhood folks. If you live in the neighborhood, you are lucky to have this place. If you are like me, it’s worth your time to drive over and get acquainted. 2015 — Review # 91

Friendly service, kid-friendly dinner options, nice atmosphere. Sweet potato fries were delicious, so was mac and cheese and also the coho salmon my sister ordered. Oh yes, good beer selection too. What a nice neighborhood option near my parents’ house.

GREAT for Blazer games! $ 10 pitcher deals and a laid back atmosphere. It’s consistently one of my favorite places to get a beer due to their kind and helpful staff, high quality food, and great taplist. Good happy hour, fun trivia night, game night deals, what more do you need?

Grrrrrrrrrreat neighborhood eatery with high-quality dining options. Definitely a pub house feel but very appropriate for families. My salad with honeydew & cantaloupe and steak was delicious. My husband really enjoyed his burger & onion rings as well. We purchased a growler of hard cider with pomegranate & blueberry. OMGosh! So nice. Our tab was a little spendy for a 2 person lunch — approximately $ 60 with tip. Service was super friendly. Atmosphere was cozy. There are indoor & outdoor seating options. We’ll be back.

Great variety of fresh/local beer. Really easy to read and organized beer menu. Friendly and attentive bartender. It smells faintly of fresh cut flowers, too. Can’t wait to try the food next time.

Good burger, decent service, extensive beer selection, and casual neighborhood vibe made for decent experience. Toilets being backed up and staff not seeming to care not good. Will consider return but wait for local friends to tell me the coast is clear.

As a gal from Wisconsin, let me enthusiastically recommend Hophouse’s Tillamook Fried Cheese Curds. I have lived in the PNW for 14 years and am delighted to relay that these transported me straight back to childhood. A+++, out of the Miller Stadium Park! Do not miss these in your culinary endeavors!

We have been here a few times in the past and have alway left satisfied but things have changed. We ordered the chicken sandwich off the happy hour menu and the chicken was literally half the size of the bread and very thin. We also ordered the BLT and pulled pork sandwich. Even though the bread was great on the BLT the lettuce was slightly wilted and the bacon was very overlooked and definitely leftover from breakfast and the pulled pork was very salty. We also ordered a serving of garlic fries which came 20 minutes after the food did. All and all the whole lunch was disappointing and we probably will not return or recommend it to anyone. It appears the owner is cutting back on quality and quantity but at their prices maybe that’s the last thing he/she should do unless he wants to lose more customers.

My husband and I stopped by 15th ave Hop House for a little happy hour before catching a movie at the Lloyd Center. This was my first time here and I was not disappointed in the slightest. The service was just right. Attentive enough that we were never low on our drinks or anything else we needed. They provide you with a current beer list with lots of description and even alcohol content. As I do not drink beer I was pleased to see several hard ciders available. They also have a full bar and some tasty looking specialty cocktails on the menu. For grub we ordered from the happy hour menu. Deviled eggs with jalapeño, fried artichoke hearts, and vegetarian poutine. We were both happy with all three dishes. The portabella mushroom gravy on the poutine was unbelievable. I’d adore to have the recipe for my holiday mashed potatoes! Cute little spot for happy hour. I’d love to go back to try some things on their regular menu. They do have several tables located out front for enjoying a nice sunny day.

A real hidden gem! Casual, laid back but personal and attentive service; relaxed ambience, a world class beer list and a solid menu with a great range of options. The quality and diversity of the food and beverage options reflect very well on whoever put this place together. I’ve never left here feeling less than totally satisfied. After a couple of visits they remember your name and what you like and will happily go off the menu to keep you coming back. As a Brit, this is the«local» I’ve been craving for ages. Portland is so good at this kind of crossover bar & restaurant but this one takes some beating. Bravo and thank you!

I’m feeling grateful that 15th ave. is in my neighborhood for many reasons, one of which is that I can stumble home if I need to should I cross that line between 2 and 3 margaritas. My favorite margarita in town is here with some added muscle provided by the jalapeño they add. I don’t care for sweet drinks much, and this one very light on the simple syrup but huge in flavor. From the beer expert in my house I’ve been made aware there’s a fine variety of beers here, from fruity to wheat, dark, light or white– with rotating taps that seem to have had a lot of thought put in to seasonal preferences. However, I come here for the food and previously mentioned cocktail. Yesterday’s visit involved a new banh mi sandwich and a gorgeous salade niçoise. I chose the former and was very pleased to have the option of added spice to mine and the pickled vegetables were just the right range of sweet and sour. The space itself is dark but with this outrageous spring we’re having the light pours in through the big windows and every server here has always been attentive, patient,(me and my off the menu drink requests) and competent about their offerings be it food or drink. I’ve heard the poutine is good and the few times I’ve indulged in a burger, it’s always been fantastic. I’ve read some complaints about noisy kids here, but I’ve never noticed it, and it is a neighborhood spot with plenty of over 21 choices a few blocks away. Additionally, sitting outside here is always a pleasure and very relaxing. If you’re in the neighborhood, definitely stop by– even if you’re not, it’s certainly worth a visit and much easier to park than one of the more well known groovy areas. Yep, I’m positively grateful.

This place is swell. We decided to try out a new spot for our Shanrock trivia, and this one will suit us just fine. Decent parking in a fun area of town. Trivia is usually not too well attended(so one team told us), providing more opportunity to win! The food was pretty darn good — I tried some burger & fries and pulled pork. I had the chicken satay which was well cooked but a little dull. The Pulp Fiiction signature cocktail was deliscous. They are not cheap at $ 8.50 a pop. Food is decently priced — burger and fry for $ 10 and $ 7 for my appetizer satay. Happy hour offers some cool deals, I will check that out some time. The vibe is mellow, and slightly«vibe-less» but sometimes you appreciate that. Gets kinda loud and heated during trivia — but in a good way. Service is fine, our waiter was swell. I don’t usually hang where I cant find cheap booze, but for trivia’s sake… I’ll come back.

Went here because we got a groupon, which was very easy to use by the way! Service was good, family friendly environment… not so much on kid friendly meals deals… Happy hour was awesome and the groupon was good for the happy hour… drinks not that strong but good food.

Mac and cheese. I always order the small size, and plain — because the mac of the day is usually meat-laden, i.e. not veg. Sigh. Still, it’s good, and they top it with a spackle of smoked paprika which adds a really nice flavor. Sweet potato fries — OMG. Seriously, seriously good. Not the mushy, floppy, greasy kind — but the lightly coated, super crispy kind that you just want to gobble up because they make that lovely crunch sound. They do have a veggie burger which I have yet to try. Prices are a little on the high side for the food, but it is a gastro pub so I guess I expect that on some level. The deep fried artichoke hearts were really good, but there were 5 of them, for $ 8, and the aioli that comes with it is just lightly drawn on the bottom of the plate(and not actually a dip as you might thing). The service was friendly, though our food took a REALLY long time to come out — and when it did my mac and cheese was cold(not cool, but actually cold in the middle). I told the waitstaff, and they immediately brought me a new one(much warmer, whew). My guess is the mac was sitting there while they cooked my husband’s burger. Anyway, they made it right for me, which is always a plus. We will be back to try brunch at some point.

This is an updated review– I have to lower my rating. The owners have added some new stingy charges and rules that are disappointing. There’s still some decent food to be had but several entrees have deteriorated. This is a hop house — that means brew is the specialty right? Too many of the drafts arrive flat. There’s a new limit of 3 samples per table and the glasses barely have anything in them. If this place is going to count tastes then perhaps customers should start to measure them. Our waitress kept saying«the bartender counts the samples» or «it’s the owners’ new rules». She brought us someone else’s bill, then our bill had a charge for a paper cup of mayo. «The owners’ new rules» again. I used to frequent this place but I’m not sure I will return. Maybe things will get better? Sorry guys.

I admire this location and the one on Hawthorne. Long list of draft beer and cider. Kid Friendly, Good food and friendly service. I dined for lunch in the Sun! A fabulous setting. Service was a little slow, but one server handling the lunch crowd. I had the Chicken Satay Salad and it was good, except it was drenched in dressing. The flavor was good, just too much dressing. Server was sweet and had a nice smile. Will be back. Open at 12 Noon now, as of April 2014

Dropped in on Sunday for a beer and some happy hour grub. Manged to get a little table out front, just as the sun was settling in behind the neighboring trees. We ordered a bunch of the Happy Hour food, and it was all pretty good. Really enjoyed the fries, sliders, and chicken sandwich. None of us were big on the deviled eggs, though. There were 3 of us, so we decided to go big and do the 24 beer flight, which pretty much covers the entire tap list. It’s a little spendy, but it was a great way to get to try EVERYTHING. Great tap selection, and the food was good, too. With the all day Sunday Happy Hour, I’ll be back for sure.
