Great sandwiches and salads! Nice atmosphere and like previous comment the natural light is great!

Borealis has a great, quiet and comfortable location in Portland and I often think of it when planning a meeting with colleagues or even friends. The food is good, not great and I believe they charge a bit much for their product compared to other similar Portland eateries. To be fair, I DO believe they use quality ingredients, but a chicken pesto sandwich for $ 9 could be found somewhere else around town for $ 7. My other issue with Borealis is the vibe from the people working behind the counter. I have been waited on by 3 different people and seen the same others working the background and I have never had someone take my order who has been the least bit friendly! I always feel like they are slightly irritated by having to take my order. I have always figured that the owner/manager of Borealis must be this way in that they hire people of like minds??? I would urge them to consider a more friendly approach to customers!

We only got coffee here. Cheap and it was easy to see why. It was truly awful. I think light roast means warmed up dishwater.

Not sure why I haven’t tried this place sooner, living just up the road. My parents were in town and we walked over one morning for breakfast, great selection of breads, bagels, baked goods and prepared salads and sandwiches! Three people in my party had egg sandwiches and I had the breakfast pizza and it was delish! The next day my parents went back and picked up bagels and they were great!

This place is FANTASTIC! The product is delicious and always fresh. It’s a great place to take kids in the afternoon. The only down side is that it gets awkwardly crowded in there in the AM– Early morning, wish it were a bit bigger. Parking is great, too!

I’m not sure how to feel about this joint. On one hand, the pizza, sandwiches and drink selection are straight forward and tasty. The interior is clean, lots of natural light due to the large windows and the staff is friendly. On the other hand, in my opinion, it’s wayyy too expensive for what it is. And orange soda with a standard sized Cuban sandwich for $ 15??? It’s basically a slightly better version of panera bread and they charge you accordingly.

To be honest, this bistro has good food, especially breakfast and desserts. However, the atmosphere is not comfortable. I’ve been about 5 times and every single time the employees are scrambling, everything is dirty and there is complete chaos. I’ve had my order messed up twice. They sell Coffee By Design but it is made to the poorest quality… I’d go elsewhere for that. Ordering take out to go is about all I’ll do anymore. There are way better places to go in Portland…

Very nice interior with interesting artwork. This location had a huge menu, including delicious pizza. My friend and I ended up trying a slice of pizza(peppers and onions) and a penuche square treat. We were very tempted by some of the other items too as there is a great variety. The woman behind the counter was nice although we had to wait several minutes for service. The seating area looked nice, and the prices across the board were more than reasonable.
