Bernie’s Hamburgers & Teriyaki

Damn good burgers here, its a hole in the wall but its really good and fair priced.

Teriyaki chicken & beef tasted great, big portions! Cheap prices! Will try the burger next time.
Update: Just had the Burger…& wow! Tasted fantastic! Had the double teriyaki burger with egg bacon & cheese. Really good!!! This guy would give all those Hipster food trucks a run for their money!

The rating of this restruant is proof of my thought that community demographics has everything to do with the standards set for this place. Majority of this neighborhood is flooded with blue collar workers who may end up giving the same 5 star review to a Wendys.
Coming into this restruant was a scary experience. The smell reminisced the same odors I would partake in when going through an asian live seafood store. This place smells disgusting. There is a thin layer of grease that covers everything you touch. Every surface feels sticky, in perfect congruence to the smell radiating through the air. The owner who himself looks dirty, looks like he gave up in this business years ago. His attitude seconds that with his lazy half sentence/​questions.
The food is edible. This is the only saving grace. Not anything memorable, but it doesnt make you gag. Do not be suprised if your food is served on a shitty paper dixie plate. The mediocre food was not worth putting up with the depressing /​disgusting atmosphere. Will not be coming back.

Good and cheap. Fries are a must with ranch. They are heavy on the teriyaki sauce so make sure you ask for light sauce or else your food will be drowning in it.

Burger bento eggrolls and more good lunch specials cheap. And very good size meals also

Looking for a Teriyaki dealership closer to my house and checking out Unilocal reviews, I made the plunge at Bernie’s. Like many other reviews have noted, this place does not look spectacular from the outside. In fact, I’ve lived within a mile for 12 years and never come in here.
I’m glad I tried it.
Bernie’s is very good. You get fresh food, hot and very tasty. For 6.25, I got a large container of Teriyaki Chicken and Beef atop rice, served with a side of steamed veg.
My favorite Teriyaki in PDX til now has been Du’s. I think Bernie’s is a serious contender for taking that title.
I’m looking forward to going back and trying their salads and even their burgers.

Bernie burger is my stop and go place to eat.
I would recommend anyone going!
The good is really really really good especially the Chicken Teriyaki and his French fries.
It has reasonable price not to spendy at all.

Looks can definitely be deceiving, if it looks like a dump, it is a dump. Age old wisdom. Older than the cracked linolium floor here. But this dump is Bernies, and the food they serve here is down right good for the money. I haven’t tried the burgers, it’s the old I don’t eat beef thing I have. but both the pork and chicken and veggie dishes here are very tasty. I’m not gonna say it’s always perfect. Sometimes the veggies are still cold for example. And once the chicken was very dry. But multiple times they’ve hit it out of the park with solid effort. I saw one reviewer bemoan the fact that Bernies isn’t open on weekends, but it is open on Saturdays. Definitely a dive worth coming back to.

Don’t be thrown off by the appearance of this place. I eat here all the time because it’s conveniently located close to work and presents an incredible bang for the buck. You can’t go wrong with the teriyaki dishes, they’re pretty good and the price is even better. The Gyoza are simply frozen and heated up. The hamburgers are mediocre, nothing special, but not bad either. Very fast service. There is seating available and can fill up during lunch hour.

That it’s seriously awesome teriyaki chicken! I’ve never come across a place that has burgers and teriyaki. Solved our, «we want teriyaki but the kid will only eat burgers» problem. The chicken is so moist and not hard or crunchy at all. The sauce is good and there is so much food for the price. And, I swear they brought it out in under two minutes. I will definitely come here again when we’re it this way.

Don’t let the inside or outside scare you! For $ 6 you can get an extra large portion of chicken teriyaki and vegies and/​or rice. I think every blue collar working in PDX comes here for lunch and every time I’ve been there I’m the only chick in the place… maybe a good dating location as well? Anyways if not… the food is worth the stop!

you know, for a little hole in the wall teriyaki joint in the middle of nowhere, these guys won me over today. Bernie is very nice and that dude moves quickly with service in mind, and BOY! Does he make some mean ‘Yaki! I ordered the beef/​chicken teriyaki combo and to my surprise, the meat was moist, tender and deliciously char-​broiled to perfection! You can’t really beat that for six bucks.

Dave S. has it right. It’s certainly nothing special to look at but the quantity, quality, and price are legit! Stop there if you want to be full on good food for cheap…

Quick, Cheap. Delicious. Plentiful.
$ 5.00 Chicken Teriyaki deal can’t be beat. Going to find a bunch of hungry working class folks here, getting great value for their dollar. Bernie works the cashier/​expediting position himself and he’s always cheerful and quick. I’ve been there now dozens of times, always get the food to go, and have never waited more than 5 minutes for my food.

The place is nothing to look at but, judging from the line the food is great. The burgers are big and fries are plentiful. The Teriyaki is great and more food than any one should eat for the $$. Only drawback is they aren’t open weekends.
