On a recent trip to Portland, I was walking through the Saturday Market with my boyfriend. We had several food options to choose from and decided on Beirut Café. We shared a Beef Shawarma — which was probably the most flavourful beef I have had in a long time! The right mix of spices for sure!

While wandering around the Saturday Market, I thought that this place looked interesting and decided to give them a try. I asked the guy manning the booth which was better — the chicken or the beef. He replied that replied that he would give me both. He put a reasonably generous portion of the beef and chicken into the pocket sandwich. Unfortunately, neither meat was any good. The sandwich included onions, bell pepper and lettuce. The sauce was pretty good but wasn’t enough to make up for the bland flavors of the meat. I think that I probably would have done better at one of the many other food booths at the Saturday Market.
