See Laurel. You will never be disappointed. She’s been doing my hair for years. I will be making the trip to Portland from Massachusetts to see her. She’s a great addition to Bang.

Laurel has been cutting my curly hair for years and does a fantastic job! She takes the time to consult with me about my lifestyle and particular challenges of my curly hair. She looks at the way my hair falls around my face. She is a true artist. I love her work! I will be making the trip to her new salon in Portland from Massachusetts!

Krystal is great! I recently switched to her for both cut and color after trying out a variety of other salons. She really listens to you in terms of what you’re looking to achieve and explains the process it will take to get you where you want to be. And as an added, very appreciated plus, she is also somehow super fast!

Brett is amazing! His haircuts are great. He listens and is a great communicator. He’s good people all around – wants you to feel good about how your hair looks. He’s also a really really smart and thoughtful guy. It’s really fun to talk to him while you’re getting your haircut, so that weird awkward thing where you’re trying to think of what to talk about – totally not there.

A friend of mine has been going to Brett for years, and I’ve always really liked her cuts — funky layers & asymmetry — exactly what I’ve been looking for! I went to Brett last spring before moving to Maine from Brooklyn, NY and WOW! Great haircut. Since moving to Maine last May, I’ve been going to Brett, we’ve changed up my whole look, and I simply love it. After years of getting inconsistent haircuts in NYC, I feel like Brett really ‘gets’ my style and what I haven’t been able to articulate well. Great haircuts, every single time, and a fun group of folks at the salon. Thanks Bang!

Had a really positive experience with Marie the other day. I live here and there so I haven’t been going anywhere in particular, so I decided to try Bang while in Portland this time around. I’m really happy I did! I have very curly hair that is quite short so I’m nervous about getting it cut (it can either end up very triangular or very round), but Marie sat down with me before she started cutting so that she could really get a sense of what I wanted. I walked away with a cut I’m very happy with!
Tldr; I would strongly recommend Marie for curly-​haired people.

Sienna the Savior was FABULOUS! Her expertise, attention to detail, and ability to save my hair was nothing short of a miracle. My hair was cut 5 days prior from another salon. They absolutely botched it. It looked noticeably atrocious, it made me feel really horrible, and I was completely stressed out. She was very kind and attentive. She really listened to me, asked all the right questions, and explained everything before doing anything throughout the process. As I listened to her suggestions and watched her work with my hair, I started to ease up a bit, felt a ray of hope, and began to feel confident she was going to be able to fix it; and she did, she really did. My hair not only looks better, it looks GREAT! What a relief! I will definitely go back to Bang Cut & Color next time! Thank you so much Sienna!

What an amazing salon this is. Marie colored and cut my hair and I could not have asked for a better stylist! She was so meticulous with detail and made sure I got exactly what I wanted. I have been to dozens of hairdressers and this is the best hair I’ve ever had. I am just devastated I am returning to Australia. Marie if you ever decide to open a salon in Melbourne I’ll be the most loyal customer you could have!

This is the best hair salon I have ever visited, and I get the best haircuts that I have ever had. The service is wonderful, the staff are friendly, the atmosphere is comfortable yet stylish. After visiting Bang, Cut & Color, you will look better than you ever have before. I’ve been a loyal customer since my first visit several years ago, and I recommend them most highly!

Great full service salon. We dropped in without an appointment and they fit me right in. Very laid back salon with casual atmosphere in a fun setting. I had what little hair I have expertly chopped by Krystal. Super cool lady, very chatty and relaxed. If I’m ever back in Portland I’ll be back!

Been coming since 2013 and never had a bad cut. Go see Krystal if you want a cut/​color that’s edgy but still lets you have full control over what you want. The dog inside is cute too :)

Based upon reccomendation from another Unilocal user, I went to Sierra to cut this blanket of hair on my head. She is AMAZING. So nice and gentle and informs you what she’s doing every step of the way!

I never thought I would have a hairstylist that I swear by but now I do.

So in my childhood I was never allowed to grow my hair… I looked like Harry potter my whole life up until I was 18. I let my hair grow long and refused to get more than a trim.
My boss who gives great recommendations suggested me to get an appointment with Sierra.
I was really nervous. I really needed a change. New job, New city. Making life better for myself meant I needed to conquer my fears.
She was amazing. She guided me through the whole thing and made me feel like she was write on the journey with me. She gave me a sassy New look that complemented my face. I was really really please. I went back last month and she was just as wonderful as the last time.
The places itself is awesome. And the owner is very fair and really nice. Really really happy with this salon.

Krystal is fantastical! Not only does she do an amazing job making me a beautiful blonde, but she’s a hoot to chat with during the process. I’ve been going to her for over a year now, and I’m never disappointed.
Bonus: Bang’s shampoo sinks are way more comfortable than the typical pain-​in-​the-​neck sinks. Krystal’s magic fingers are a treat on your scalp, too. ;)

Go see Brett if you get the chance. I am so happy I found this little gem. Every time I have gone, my hair cut has been exactly what I’m looking for. Brett listens to what you want and gives top quality cuts and styling. He really makes the hair cut about you and has chopped several inches off my hair (which turned out great despite my nervousness) as well as small trims. He is a trustworthy stylist and has a great personality and will talk you through the process and make sure you love your cut and that it will work with your routine. His prices are great and gives you the cut you want (I am extremely picky about my cuts!). Def go to Bang; it will not disappoint.

I moved to Portland in June and have been bouncing around to different salons since, but I wasn’t super happy with my hair after going to any of them. I called up Bang on a whim last week and I was pleasantly surprised! Marie gave me a trim and I seriously love it.
I have really short hair, so getting the cut’s shape right is really important. One thing I love is that Marie cut my hair dry so that I would know what it looks like when I let it dry naturally. I love that! She was also just super nice and we kept up good conversation throughout my appointment.
I will absolutely be back to Bang, I am so glad I found a keeper in Maine!

Great place! I don’t trust anyone to cut my hair but Sierra. She’s amazing & really listens to what you want. Great comfy & laid back environment with lots of laughs.
Parking is sometimes hard, especially if there is a show at The State – go early.

Marie is a magician. I was visiting family in the area, and bemoaning that my hair was awful– my former stylist left the area, I tried a new place, I cried after my cut, and was in a PTSD-​induced cycle of ponytail hell. My aunt gave me a look and promptly pronounced «you need to go to Bang.»
Fortunately for me, Marie had a last-​minute opening, and as soon as she introduced herself, I knew I was in good hands. She talked with me right off the bat to get a sense of what I was looking for, what went right and wrong in past cuts, and what my day-​to-​day hair routine is like. She was very practical, and provided suggestions that were spot-​on. The cut is fabulous, and it was a lot of fun to be in her chair– not only is she a great stylist, but we also had a great time chatting, too.
The salon itself is a really nice space– a great loft style that’s fresh and modern. I couldn’t recommend it more, and am a bit heartbroken that I live so far away.
