My search started because our new neighbor at our RV Storage Unit decided to unplug and plug back on our RV at some point in the last 30 days. When they plugged it back in they created a surge of power and it blew out the circuit board on my Electric Fireplace in my RV. GREAT!!! NOT!!! So my mission was to fix the Fireplace… not replace it. You would think armed with the Internet, the original book, Serial number, make and model numbers, I would be easy! Unfortunately that was not the case. Turns out, the original MFG was located in China(there’s a surprise). But lucky for me when I searched by the model number I came up with ADDCO. Even more fortunate, Addco was located right here in Portland Oregon. I called and first asked about a replacement board. They said that might be possible, but a new model that was the same size was on clearance — they had 3 left and would make me a killer deal. Actually the price quoted for a new unit, was less than I had figured a new circuit board would be. I was very excited. The Addco staff was super helpful and friendly when I called… even when I called back with more questions they were awesome and patient. Like the other reviewer said, they did advise that I could come to them by appointment only OR on Wednesdays when they were open until 6:00pm. This was a Tuesday so I said I would come in the next day after work. They asked that I call again Wednesday to insure someone would be there and explained that they were an internet based business, not a retail store where you could just walk in. They explained further, that they had some displays at the shop they worked out of and that was why they were by appointment only. I called at 3:00 pm — was informed they would indeed be there until 6 and come anytime. My Husband and I drove there Wednesday — arrived about 4:45. The location is a bit out of the way and in an industrial area in St. Johns — N. Portland. When we found it using the address only, we were greeted with a locked door which based on their location seemed prudent. After knocking were let in and preceded with introductions. We were working with Brandon who I must way was super pleasant, knowledgeable and very nice! He took us to the«showroom/warehouse» where I was surprised to see so many options that were available in an Electric Fireplace… I think these guys are on-to a new trend. Brandon showed us the model we discussed and we really liked it. He even took the time to test our broken unit(we brought with us) to confirm our findings. He said that if he could get it to «run» he would at no charge. Keep in mind this company was NOT the original Manufacturer, supplier, or vendor on the old fireplace. So they were under NO obligation to help, yet they did — that is way above and beyond what you get in terms of service anymore. I was impressed. He even tried an old circuit board they had there from a similar unit to get it to work — again no cost to us. We eventually bought the new FP — brand new in the box… Seemed like the best decision. Ours was about 7 years old… I can’t help but say that this company was AWESOME! I’m sorry that the other review was lack-luster… I hope that more people give this company a shot! Thanks Brandon @ Addco!
