Acorn Host Web Hosting

I have used Acorn for years but to echo the other reviewers, the past year and especially the past few months have been the worst. They have gone downhill in a hurry. Domains get blocked all the time, I have massive spam issues and my email is always going down. I am constantly on the phone with customer service who are very nice but ineffectual and struggle with the English language. You cannot get a local person on the phone. They simply don’t answer the phone but refer you to the website.

Horrible experience in the end. I hosted with Acorn since 2005 and for many years, this was an excellent option. However, the last couple years it is NOTHING BUT strange glitchy issues, either crickets or attitude when I need support and non stop inconvenience and downtime. Goodbye Acorn. It’s been interesting but life is too short for this kind of aggravation.

I have had them for years and they were fine until this last year. Their tech support appears to no longer be local and you cannot get anyone on the phone for billing or sales. Their service is rife with problems. My IP has been repeatedly blacklisted for no reason and my website is down again for NO RATIONAL REASON. My tech person hates them because they don’t know what they are doing and I am GONE.

Web hosting is a minefield, it’s all crap and lies and spin and it’s impossible to tell who actually owns what. And it’s almost entirely built on a massive sea of fossil fuels.
Against that backdrop, the ethics of acornhost and their awesome customer service really stood out for me, I’ve used it to host a few simple websites with no problems so far.

I was so excited to sign up with Acorn. Their customer service is very responsive. However, my company experienced so much downtime– as much as an hour a day when our website didn’t work and our entire company would lose email messages for several hours a time. The response of acorn tech support was basically, «Sorry, we can’t recover your emails. Sorry the server was down.» They didn’t do anything to fix the problems so eventually we just had to move because it was negatively impacting the business when people would send us important emails that we didn’t receive; and when our website was not accessible for at least 20 minutes a day. Bummer– I think they are a well meaning company. They just have a profoundly unreliable product.

I did a simple search for good web hosting with politics that I like a few years ago and found acornhost. My experience with building websites is limited, and as a do-​it-​yourselfer I make mistakes here and there. Acornhost tech support has always been knowledgable and prompt to help out. Today I accidentally deleted critical files for my wordpress site and acornhost had my site restored with a backup version within 4 hours. Bare in mind that I’m using the cheapest hosting service they offer. I love these guys.
