Used to be a great place to hang after basketball. Great service, good food. Now it depends on whose working. Went there last Monday night… Out of jack Daniels and Hef. 2 Bartenders were too busy talking to the 5 people at the bar to give us table service. Time before that we got to watch a fist fight. …And my wings were overdone.

Went in yesterday to watch the KU game. Pretty low key venue with enough TV’s. One guy made the food, took our orders, and made the drinks. Good service but could be a problem when more people arrive

Snotty, unfriendly workers who act like they are paying you. Not service-oriented at all. Refused to cash tickets because I said Jess does not like to wait on Black people. Jess said to me «You really shot yourself in the foot with that one.» Shilo said I «pulled the race card» as if it was a gun I pulled on her or something. Telling someone they do not acknowledge Black customers is NOT pulling«the race card,» it is merely stating the obvious. Shilo said I had been nasty to Jess. Again, advising someone you notice a difference in treatment based on your ethnicity is not being«nasty,» it is merely advising an individual how their actions are perceived. I am not alone in my observation of disparate treatment. A Hispanic man shared with me that he had experienced the same treatment from Jess. I wonder if refusing to cash in video lottery slips because a customer objected to being treated less than human is something the Oregon Lottery Commission would find of concern. Long story short, if you are ethnically different from the servers at A&L Tavern, you’d do better to find a similar business elsewhere. A business that is in business to conduct business and not tolerant of moody, biased employees.

F this place. Ate here about 5 hours ago. Since then I’ve thrown up twice and gone to the bathroom at least 12 times. I am ill from the burger I ordered. I did not consume anything else in the last 10 hours. Just their burger and fries. I haven’t thrown up in years. Now that I’ve vomited twice I’m feeling a bit better, thankfully. On top of that, both urinals were busted in the bathroom leaving one toilet(that I had to familiarize myself with quite a bit) for 120 or so patrons(Monday Night Football game, Steelers). Honestly I think I’m gonna call the health dept on this establishment. Thanks for making me sick and ruining my night, A&L. Hopefully I’ll feel better and more forgiving tomorrow. UPDATE: I started feeling ill immediately after eating the burger. Might have been a moldy bun, or some bad veggies, or who knows… what I do know for sure is that burger made me sick for almost 24 hours. I could tell you what that experience was like, but it would be TMI for a Unilocal review. I hope these folks passed their health dept inspection with flying colors, and that this was a single bad incident. I noticed their inspection was overdue, but they god good marks last year. Hopefully they keep their act clean. And fix their nasty bathrooms. I’m ok with dive bars, but when the urinals are overflowing onto the floor with urine, that’s a bit much.

$ 12 for a pitcher of Mimosa. Yes please! Huge Steelers bar, but plenty of room for other fans too. LOTSSSSSS of tv’s and places to sit, but then again we got there early to make sure we had good seats before kick off. Service is definitely weak. They could use some more help or something, but that ish was SLOW! All you can eat breakfast, but can’t order much if your server is MIA… I had to wave her down a few times which was annoying. I heard the biscuits and gravy is pretty good, but get there early cuz they sell out! Overall, had a good time. We were all able to watch our teams and the BF enjoyed being in a place with so many other Steelers fans. Everyone seemed pretty friendly and even though my team lost, I was mimosa buzzed so I was fine. lol… If you’re looking for a place with a lot of tv’s, lots of football fans and a chill environment, check this place out, but don’t expect too much from the food and don’t expect much at all from the service!

A&L is your average sports bar… nothing fancy to holler about but nothing terrible to gripe about. I live very close-by in the neighborhood and have only been here twice, the first being when I was too inebriated to given an honest review. The second time, however, was very recently. The place was quite dead, although it was a weeknight, but the bartender was pleasant and had good input on the beer selection and gave us several samples before we narrowed down our choices. I will say that this place DOES have quite an impressive collection of beers on tap — 30+, actually. This place is gigantic and I’m assuming they get quite a large crowd during football season — it’s a Steelers bar — because they have a separate larger room off to the side that actually has a theater-style projector screen for games. They have one pool table which also has pretty good lighting considering this place is pretty dark for the most part. I can’t give any review of the food because I have yet to have any, but when I do I will put my two cents in an updated review. Overall, good bar to chill if you’re hopping over from across the street or if you live in the area, but don’t expect to be blown away by the atmosphere.

This local sports bar is great! It’s kinda like a dive bar with lots of TVs so the atmosphere is inviting and staff is friendly– they are also SUPER trustworthy! I lost my wedding ring here(seriously) and we came back to look for it the next night and all the staff helped out– they finally got a hold of a co-worker who stated he had found it and locked it in a drawer!!! We keep coming back :)

The fan food and onion rings are my favorite! Awesome service and the most friendly staff! Plenty of tv’s to watch whatever sports game might be on at the time.

First of all KUBAR!!! Best place to root for the Jayhawks in Portland. They have an awesome amount of TV’s and large screens to watch any game you want, but especially the jayhawks playing basketball. They have a TON of beer selections on tap — I think like over 30? I also thought to food for bar food was pretty good. I got their egg burger(I’m sure it’s called something more official). Loved it. The service was pretty good. I never had an empty glass or had to flag down the bartender, he was on top of it even with a crowd. I will be back and bringing more people next time. The regulars seemed pretty cool too. Not a hipster bar, but older folks. Friendly and there despite the crowd for a team no where near Oregon.

Been here a few times since it’s super close to home and the experience has been pretty consistently average. They have a surprisingly wide variety of beers on tap and the bartender has always been helpful in steering me toward something I’ll enjoy. Just your typical sports pub…

Sat at the bar to catch the game and the bartenders, 3 to be exact, stayed in the same 10 foot area. My buddy waited 20 minutes for a beer and their old and crusty breakfast was less than desirable. It would be better for them to BYOB until lunch… bring your own breakfast…

Dude, they have tots. That kinda seals the deal for a fat kid like me. Killer tap selection. Sports! What more do you need. Do not be afraid of the darkness. Go in and explore!

You would never know that this place has 32 taps of really great local & national craft beer, would you? I know I sure didn’t, and I told the owner as much when I was introduced to him. The food is pretty standard pub grub. If you happen to be there in the morning for an early game, they have an all-you-can-eat breakfast with bacon that is surprisingly good quality and large portions. Staff are super friendly & nice, but I only go there to watch football games. The décor is pretty scruffy, but that’s kinda part of the charm.

1st time here had bad service. Figured I would give a second chance. 2nd time: Bad bartender. Same lady had the nerve to say she couldn’t serve me because I had«red eyes.» Then proceeded to ask me «what have you been smoking.» It was 5pm and I just got off work. Won’t be back. Oh and it was my medicine bitch, that’s why I walked here. Cause in Oregon, medical marijuana is legal. Screw you and your judgement. Not like I was higher than a giraffes vagina… I take the bus down the block for better service and no discrimination.

Not a bad place. Been in exiestence for a long time and is a good place to watch sports. Could sue a little TLC inside but the food is good and the owners are very friendly people. Big Steelers bar during football season.

Meh… nothing too special about this place. It is a really big«sports pub» if you want to call it that I guess. There usually isn’t more than a couple of people in this pub. I am not totally sure how they stay in business but maybe they get a large crowd for the big games. The people are really friendly. Staff and patrons are always fun to chat with. I just think that for a «sports pub» they could use a little work. The place is a little rough around the edges. They have a pool table and some fun games like pin ball but there isn’t really anything special that draws me here for drinks except that it is close to my bus line. They have a few good winter beers. My favorite is the ebinezer beer from bridgeport.

So as I write this review we are in the midst of March Madness and I have been spending a fair amount of time in sports bars. by far A&L has been the best venue for tournament viewing. First it it huge so there are lot’s of places you can sit and have a good view of multiple TV’s, which is very important when there are multiple games going on. Second the food is decent and cheap which when you are spending up to six hours in a bar over a three week period how much you spend is important. It’s standard bar fair nothing fancy or gourmet but I had fried fish and a side salad and the salad was surprisingly fresh. I also had 2 glasses of wine and was floored that my bill was under 15 $. Now I read some other reviews and I can’t really speak to watching football at A&L…but I will say as a fantasy football player who does like to spend an occasional Sunday morning catching multiple games I would definitely think of going to A&L. It’s not in my hood… and ON Deck which is, has ample TV’s so is my sports bar of choice, but the cost difference is staggering between A&L and ON Deck so if you live anywhere out on the East side you should be checking this place out. And bring all your friends because there is definitely room for big groups.

Despite not being a sports bar type of girl, I came in here once because it’s close-ish to where I live.(And because my upstairs neighbor REALLY wanted company while she watched LeBron get his ass handed to him by the Celtics.) That said, maybe my opinion shouldn’t factor too heavily here. However, this place is super dirty, divey and dank even as sports bars go. Surprisingly quiet the night I was there, too. Nothing really struck me as remarkable in any sense, but the staff was pretty cool and very friendly. So that’s a plus.
