I checked this place out that other day and it was pretty darn good. The ingredients were all high quality, great meat, great bun, everything was just high quality and didn’t drag you down like fast food quality stuff does.
I don’t remember the specifics about the burger, but the tater tots are what really stood out to me. Usually I don’t like tots, but I was feeling adventurous. When you get fast food tots, they’re mushy and weird and gross. Not these!
These perfect tots were fried to a crisp perfection with a crispy layer that transcended beyond the outer coating and into the tot body. Best dang tots I’ve ever had.
I’d go back, and not just for the tots.
Price was fair and it took a reasonable amount of time.

A food truck located in the Mississippi neighborhood, 503 Burger is a hidden gem of a food truck that delivers quality burgers. This review is based off being a burger fanatic, and everything about the meal was on point. Patty was juicy and has a char taste that i dig. I got the thunderdome which usually comes with a pork patty but i got it with the beef. I also got it with the tater tots which isnt something that is usually served with a burger but oh man was this an excellent side dish.
Make sure to talk it up with Johnny, especially if you are a visitor in Portland. He will make you feel at home. Thanks again, Johnny!

Best burgers in town! The quality and quantity exceeds any other burger joint in town and the tots are delicious! Love eating here and the service is amazing, but get there early because they sell out fast!

I’ve been looking for a good place to eat near work for a few months now and I came across this place after finding another of the carts in the pod. I came back the next day and tried the Thunderdome… Friggin delicious. Such an odd bunch of flavors that come together like perfection when you take a bite.
To give you a better idea of how good this place is… I’ve been back 3 more times in less than a week. I can’t pick a favorite of the burgers I’ve tried as they’re all just fantastically delicious. The Rocky is simple and straightforward, but it is absolutely full of flavor. The Chef’s special is amazing as well. Simply tell them what you don’t like and they’ll go to town outside of that. By and far away, the Chef’s special is the best value. In fairness, they’re all a good value for the kind of ingredients they’re putting on many of their burgers. As much as some of their prices seem expensive, they don’t rip you off in the size of the burger, the quality of the fries or tots and the ingredients themselves. The Rocky isn’t expensive at all… $ 5 gets you a decent sized patty, onions, bacon and other goodness, and the fries are only $ 1 more (though I don’t think they’re charging anyone for them). 2 patties only goes up to $ 7 with the extra cheese and onions they add to it.
By and large, the fries and tots are the gold standard here. Perfectly golden brown and perfectly seasoned. The Crunch is amazing with this nice, soft center. The seasoning though… that’s where the fries shine. I have no clue what it is about their seasoning, but it’s amazing.
This place is 5 star and worth every penny for what you get. I haven’t tried the shakes, but watching them make one helps me to understand why people love them. The drinks are a bit expensive, but that’s the same everywhere, so I can’t fault them for that. All in all, worth a visit and worth enjoying something unique, or something basic like the Rocky. Don’t be afraid of the Thunderdome though… it’s delicious.

Kids review: I liked they ketchup. It was good! It feels you up. Pickles were good. The burgers are delicious… and the fries are good.
Kids are brutally honest. Hope this helps… I did sneak a bite while they weren’t looking. They were good!

The tots are out of this world good. I dislike tots having grown up with the soggy, cardboardy tots of grade school. I got these only because the chef recommended them… and because I’m something of a people pleaser. They were what I consumed first and even went so far as to personally thank the chefs for them. Yep, that good. The burgers were also tasty though smaller than anticipated. Filling, nonetheless. Highly recommend.

Finally a proper burger joint that isn’t small burgers for a big price. I’ve been working near here for the past week and this has quickly become my favorite lunch spot. Back To The Future Burger and the Burnside Knife Burger with a shake. Proper service from staff and proper execution and delivery. In the world of ho-​hum service and dollars spent to receive food from folks who half ass it these guys are a breath of fresh air. Thanks 503. You’ve won me over. See you again tomorrow. Cheers!

Amazing. I had the Johnny Utah and it was a damn good burger. Meat quality is top notch along with being packed perfectly into a not to tight patty. The tots were pretty good with what I’m assuming was a custom spice blend. The tots were also served with an impressive cream cheese/​pepperocini dipping sauce. Highly recommended.

Great burgers. Better tots. Even better milkshakes. The staff was great but all I wanted was more burger.

The friendliest staff and the best burger at the Mississippi food pods! I had the roadhouse with tots and my hubby had The Johnny Utah with string fries, all were absolutely delicious. To top it off we had the nutty butter shake, omg!
