The food was okay, but the service was fairly poor. If the restaurant had been busy, I could have easily overlooked the slight, but it was super quiet. We never received everything we ordered, and the server never checked on us to refill our drinks. Given the minimal options for Indian food in town, it’ll get the job done, but if you’re going to eat here, I highly recommend getting it to go.

It’s 5:20AM and my dinner from last night is about to have its second wave of revenge on me. I’ve been up for about 2 hours with the second worst stomach cramps of my life. It is quite possible that the lamb korma from Mus Kan is to blame, since breakfast and lunch were both the same(Raw Meal organic meal replacement shake) and I eat Raw Meal about 5 of every 6 meals or so. That being said, one can never say with absolute certainty what is the cause of what, but the correlation of what I’ve concluded to be food poisoning and last nights restaurant choice is almost enough to prevent me from returning there. The combination of the current state of my G.I. situation and the lackluster food is what will prevent my return patronage. The dining room was dimly lit, and mostly full. The water tasted faintly of butter, and wine glass for my one glass of Cabernet was tiny. Staff were quiet but friendly and food arrived quickly. I had ordered my korma«2 stars» and my boyfriend ordered his lamb vindaloo«4 stars» because the menu specified dishes served mild UNLESS otherwise specified, and included a stars-to-spiciness guide for ordering. Both dishes actually arrived with almost no spiciness – I would have rated it zero stars. My korma was about twice as salty as it should have been, and half as warm, temperature-wise. And it was all but missing the golden raisins promised in the menu description. I ate almost all of it, because I wouldn’t say it was bad, and my boyfriend was very sweet in planning this date night. Besides the lack of spiciness, he had no complaint about the vindaloo. Prices were average for Indian food. But as the second round of sickness overtakes me now, at 5:42AM, I have made up my mind not to go back. I’m just glad I don’t have work in the morning.

excellent value. Each dish was good, vegetarian, Lamb saag, curry, roti, naan. you can easily try 2 dishes from the large menu as they are affordable. Friendly service. They seem to do a lot of «food to go as well» which is a good sign for quality(repeat local customers).

It didn’t start out too well the place needs some love on interior design, they have a bar? but don’t use it excepty to store a few liquers. One waiter for the dinner shift is not the best idea either, waited quite a while for someone who we could barely understand! I felt bad so mostly we just smiled and nodded but after the food came everything was amazing!(I did help myself to pour my own water because the waiter was busy but I didn’t mind, I understand.) We got the appetizer sampler which was delicious, there was pakora, I forgot the names of the other ones but the fried onion bites and mashed potato/pea things were so yummy! Our lassis were too yogurt-y, kind of sour which was disappointing… also boyfriend was grumpy(mostly hungry) but they ran out? of soda pop! WTF Rice was pure perfection, soft and just the right amount of moisture. Butter chicken was great as usual, I tried Nirvana? with chicken I asked for 3 out of 5 spicy level and it was milder than ketchup lol But it was yummy still I’ll ask for the 5 next time. Great dipping sauces FULL of flavor. We had so much food we got togo boxes which I had for lunch the next day :) I told the waiter it was my birthday and we got free rice pudding! The dessert was okay, I was just really happy after eating so well. Oh! And can’t forget the naan!(Hard to screw up I think) They had like 6 different kinds of naan! But we went with our favorite and classic, garlic naan. We’ll be coming back hopefully next time we’ll get a 5-star experience!

Food was pretty bland. Chicken Tikka Masala is my baseline for Indian cuisine. I wasn’t impressed at all. The chicken was dry and the sauce kind of bland. The rice needs some serious work, it was just plain sticky rice with some cloves. Adding cilantro, fennel, and/or coriander would do worlds for the dish. The other dish we tried, the butter chicken, was actually burnt. Price was also expensive. The server however was very nice.

I go here fairly often, Great food(I see people have complained about the buffet, which I have never had). The staff is super friendly, very talkative.

A couple of us had dinner here last week. Food was very good, excellent service. We all have eaten a lot of Indian food in the UK, and this was as good or better than any we have had. Did not expect this caliber of Indian cuisine in Washington.

There is only one Indian food restaurant in Port Townsend. Thank goodness it is so wonderful. It has become a ritual to enjoy their food once a week for our family. Sometimes we order takeout but we prefer to eat at the restaurant. The food is authentic, fresh and delicious. You can taste the love they put into preparation. The staff very attentive and friendly. You are greeted at the door with warm welcomes and tended to as soon as they seat you. They check on you often. And take away dirty dishes as soon as you are finished. The family knows us now and that always feels good when you are greeted and treated so warmly. In the mood for Indian food? Then I highly recommend Port Townsend’s one & only Indian restaurant — Muskan Indian Restaurant.

This was quite possibly the worst Indian food I have ever tasted… the buffet offerings tasted like prepackaged microwavable and/or frozen Indian fast food and everything I sampled was extremely watery and bland. I must be spoiled by the previous Indian restaurant I frequented that was owned and staffed by actual Hindus and Sikhs and made EVERYTHING from scratch. I would say the food at Muskan was sub par at best. Needless to say I will not be going back… this white girl can do better at home with a good cookbook and some curry spices.

We went for the buffet and it was a big disappointment. The variety was very limited. The chicken was flavorless and so were the vegetable dishes. In the buffet table many of the inserts were empty. I guess good Indian food is too much to expect in Port Townsend. Next time we’ll wait till we go to Bellevue where there are many choices for great Indian food.

I absolutely don’t like writing anything other then positive happy reviews… but this Indian food was so incredibly awful. First they got our order wrong, no big deal that can happen to anyone… anywhere. There must of been a sale on cilantro that week cause every aspect of our meal was covered in it. It looked a little like mini little salads on our Naan, in our curry and all through our Basmati. I won’t say anything bad about the staff they were friendly and fairly focused on what they were doing. I LOVELOVELOVE Indian food and I wish people who have never tried it could walk into any Indian Restaurant and have an experience that was unforgettable in the magic layers that Indian spices/food can bring. We should of made a big stink and got a refund but… pathway of least resistance… or something like that. We moved on and Clay Pit here we come, we should of never left you. Curtis T.

I went here with my parents a month or so ago when I was home visiting and was very pleased with the food! I had been eager to try this place ever since I’d heard of its opening. This building has been several restaurants over the years so it would be nice if Muskan can be successful and make a go of it here in Port Townsend. Jefferson County was in dire need of an Indian restaurant so this is another reason I hope they make it. On to the food… I had the chicken tikka masala and it was very good! Great sauce. The chicken was a bit on the tough side which seemed odd. My Mom had the mango chicken and said her chicken was not tough at all. I tried her dish as well and it was very tasty. Service was pleasant. Interior was nice enough. Looks like your typical Indian place. I look forward to going back when I am home! I ate my leftovers that night. :)

Pretty good Indian food. The buffet isn’t anything to write home about but it’s cheap and ordering off the menu the food was great. Love the Palak Paneer(cheese cube/spinich). Service is fast and the people are nice, nice atmosphere, good location. Dal, Raita and Garlic Naan(sp?) are great

Very happy to learn of the much needed Indian restaurant in town! This place hasn’t been open long but good word of it is spreading quickly! I don’t think that there is much here that will disappoint Port Townsenders. They offer an honest lunch buffet for $ 8.95 with plenty of vegetarian options as well as meat. You can check out their full menu online at their website, There is so much great stuff offered here, I have no choice but to return several times! On to the review! I ordered saag paneer, bhindi masala and lamb mahkani. The spinach made me squirm and giggle with delight, the bhindi masala was sophisticated and perfectly executed and the lamb, well I didn’t eat any of the meat, but the sauce was perfect, and my partner described the meat with high regards. Their naan is crispy and perfect. Everything was so lovely and perfect. Truly deserving of every star. Ambience wise, it looks like this place has seen many different ethnic restaurant themes(Mexican, Thai…) and this is Port Townsend, so service is relaxed. Come, eat your fill of perfectly cooked and spiced Indian cuisine without driving all the way out to Bellvue!
