I nice place with live music. My complaint, the band gets so loud that my ears were ringing. The patrons were nice and the good tasty.

When in town, we would stop by Slater’s for a bit to eat and drinks. Though we haven’t been there for awhile, we were looking forward an evening there. We went on a Wednesday for the Jazz night which was VERY worthy. The food and service. NOTSOMUCH. We had two dinners(NOT the burgers this time) though it was the«nightly specials» of chicken piccata, and mahi mahi with steamed broccoli over linguine in an Alfredo sauce. The drink«special» was BAREFOOT wine at $ 4.00 a Glass. REALLY? The chicken piccata was mediocre. The other special was worse: the broccoli was inedible(hard as a rock) and when my wife complained to the waitress, she said that she needed to take it back to the chef to show them as they wanted to «check it out» but a new batch would be cooked up. 15 minutes later, she brought the same broccoli back-saying that the chef didn’t have time to cook up a new batch but had just re-cooked it(zapped the dickens out of it!). Still inedible. By the way, the Alfredo sauce was super thick almost congealed and the mahi mahi unrecognizable, but we didn’t dare send it back… The Owner/manager was made aware of our complaint by the server(in fact, she stood directly behind my wife!) choosing not to address us personally but instructed the server to deduct $ 2.50 off the bill. Overall, we were truly disappointed. We would have stayed longer to enjoy the jazz band which translates into buying more drinks… more money for Slater’s BUT after this bad experience we left. We will NOT spend our money in an establishment that treats customers that way, there are too many other GOOD options.

Great spot to stop in for lunch or dinner, catch a game or just meet up with friends for some of your favorite beverages. The burgers are outstanding. Can’t wait to try the perch dinner next. Greg Y.

Had one good experience and one bad experience here. It’s a bar with pretty good food. I enjoyed my first visit and decided to go again on a different day. The bad experience had me waiting forever to be acknowledged and eventually walking out after sitting for 20min and getting nothing to drink let alone ordering food…

Unexpectedly great! This place looks run down, like a lot of the historic buildings in port Clinton. Not in that cool way where they’re aware they have these great old buildings unfortunately. They don’t know what they have to work with. Cool space, super dive vibe but burgers were great and hand cut fries were incredible. Bartender was a peach and waited on our table hand and foot.

The website states they are open until 230 am on Friday night, but the doors were locked at 1230 am.

If you ever find yourself in Port Clinton, perhaps on the way to Put-in-Bay, I can now recommend a good spot for lunch. Slater’s Madison Street Pub is on Madison Street just a couple of blocks from the Jet Express ferry terminal. Port Clinton was established in 1828 and the buildings in this section of town definitely show their age. The inside of Slater’s looks dated at well, but it has been well maintained for the most part. There are just a couple of low seated tables right when you walk in, and the rest of the space is served with a few high-tops and bar seating. In the back are a variety of classic arcade games. It reminded me of some of the bars I used to frequent in my college years. The food menu was actually much larger than I expected and features soups, salads, sandwiches, pastas, burgers, steaks and seafood options. There were a few lunch specials that I immediately took advantage of. My ham and Swiss melt on rye was great and the hand cut fries were a nice touch. Slater’s offers evening entertainment and a weekly jazz night on Wednesdays. I could see this being a regular stop for myself if I lived in the area.

Love the owner Aimee. She works incredibly hard to bring bands in and variation to the area.

I’ve only been here twice, and that was to get my drink on, so I can only review this place for the ambiance and service I got. They have a great selection of beer, including limited runs of local Great Lakes beers depending on their season. The bartenders are great at what they do and have made«specialty» cocktails that I requested but weren’t sure how to make(so they have patience with me). Every so often they will open up their 2nd-story dance-floor/bar area(like on New Year’s Eve for the Walleye Drop). Their space may get a little cramped for a bigger guy like myself on special occasions at the pub, so situations may exist if a line forms for their restroom(s). However most of the year, they have plenty of tables and chairs available, even on nights when local musicians perform there. For those like myself who enjoy playing older video games while knocking back a few, Slaters has you covered with around 5 – 6 classic arcade cabinets located towards the back of the pub. All in all, this place has a comfortable, «homie» vibe that makes for a relaxing kickback spot.

Aimee makes the best burgers around! I order a side of broccoli instead of fries and that is always good too. Her place has a wonderful feel to it, friendly and comfortable. I have been in on Wednesday for Jazz night and it is a great time. I would recommend her place to anyone who wants to enjoy a good meal at a great place!

I have been to Slater’s quite a few times. While in town for the Walleye festival this summer, we stopped in. It was nice that it was so close to the lake AND to downtown. I haven’t been to the Wednesday Jazz night, but people say it is great. They have a good beer selection. Each night, they have a homemade dinner special. My husband had the Madison Street burger and thought it was top notch. He could tell it was fresh made because it was so juicy. I would have loved to see a Northstar Burger on the menu, but I settled for the grilled cheese. It was awesome and really gooey. Try it. Kid friendly, nice atmosphere, sorta veggie friendly.
