Holiday Inn Express & Suites Port Charlotte

Pros: Clean, well maintained, breakfast is really good and it went until 10:30, and friendly employees.
Cons: Loud air conditioner that kept turning off and on even though it was set to its lowest setting. No ice machine on the floor (second) we were on

The staff were all excellent and very friendly so my review is not against them. They were wonderful.
I travel the US and world weekly (although new to Unilocal reviews).
This past week I ended up staying in 3 Holiday Inn Expresses as well so it was not just a bad experience and timing.
This hotel is in serious need of updating and renovations. I almost checked out the second I saw my room but it was late so I stayed.
Everything is from the 70s or 80s… I was disappointed. Average for cleanliness … Found the typical hotel grime and stuff if you looked hard enough but nothing out of the ordinary.
I should have taken photos but to the hotel owners — it’s time to reinvest and update the place.
There were also air freshener a hanging all over the hotel in the breakfast area, lobby, halls by vents and intake ducts. Is there an air quality issue ?? It did smell in certain areas.
The other two holiday inn express hotels I stayed at were on par for this ‘level’ of hotel. They were both modern and renovated within the past 5 years.
I was upset I paid for a room that was subpar I’m décor, lighting, vibe and feel.
There were stains and other items that were gross on the carpet but I can live with that when paying under $ 200/​night.
There should be a standard all hotels within a chain or operating group follows… This hotel fails.
Again the employees were wonderful this is about the state of the hotel rooms.

Check-​in was great! Nadine is great at her job, excellent customer service. Rooms are simple, spacious. Pillows are too flat

The hotel was exactly as I expected. Clean, comfortable rooms and a good hot breakfast. I would definitely rebook next time I’m in town. Recommended.

Wont go back to this one. As a Platinum Elite member for IHG, I would at least expect to get the kind of room that I book instead of being bumped to a different room. I booked a non-​smoking room, as I do in every one of their hotels. The hotel was full and I was bumped to a smoking room since I checked in late. I wont be back to this hotel and will probably start switching the 200+ nights a year that I stay on the road over the a Hampton.

The staff at this hotel were fantastic. We called to request early check in — as we were traveling with our baby and needed to get home base established before heading out for an evening baseball game. They kindly accomodated and cleaned our room immediately so we could check in early.
Everyone we talked to at the hotel was kind and helpful — very friendly. The room was clean and well maintained. If I were in the area, I would definitely stay again!
