We eat here once or twice every month. Foods pretty solid and portions are good. My family’s a big fan of their shrimp chips and oysters!

Love this place! Great prices, huge portions, and tasty seafood. Best shrimp chips in town. The salt and peper shrimp are amazing! Also their staff is always friendly.

Ok… I went by Unilocal!Reviews for a good local seafood spot. Bruce’s DIDNOT disappoint!!! The S&P shrimp was best ever! Maybe just seasonal, but the fried crab(S&P) was very good as well… to be a glutton, fried oysters were spot on! Definitely will be back when I’m back in Port Arthur!!!

We tried this because the reviews were good, but we were not impressed. It wasn’t anything special. Disappointing.

My first time here today. Having 3 oysters and 3 shrimp to dine in. Good location here on busy corner. No fancy place but is modern and new appearance. Good service. Is good but I like another restaurant choice better. Batter in shrimp and oysters is a bit thicker here and less is better. And… they didn’t say ‘Thank you’. Poor manners from any business, in my opinion.

Their food is ways hot and fresh. The Pop corn shrimp are BIG! the fried oysters are the bomb and the boudain balls are to die for’! Boiled shrimp= YUMMM and their fried fish is awesome. I usually eat here about once a week when I’m at work and I’m never disappointed. Plus the prices are great. It’s not a fancy place. Just plain but always good eatin!

I was in Port Arthur, from Dallas, to deliver a vehicle, and I had it in my mind that I wanted seafood since I was on the coast. I found Bruce’s on the Unilocal app and thought that’s where I’m eating lunch today. I was a little surprised that it was a Chinese restaurant, due to the name. Regardless, I got three shrimp and three oyster meal. Even though they were deep fried, I could recognize the freshness. Very tasty. My only gripe would be the slightly toasted slice of white bread that came with the meal. It seemed like overkill along with the pile of fries and small salad. Other than that, the food was great! I would recommend Bruce’s Seafood Deli to anyone going to Port Arthur!

Once in awhile, you crave fried seafood, at least I do. Along the Gulf Coast there are loads of places to get the same-old, same-old Cajun, southern style, blah fried seafood. Frankly, you get sick of it. Then there’s Bruce’s Seafood Deli. Great salt and pepper fried shrimp, catfish, and chicken wings– just right spicy and cooked right. The fries are good too. The place isn’t fancy, not in a prime location, but dang it, the food is great.

It was a lot of fried food. Was over done. The atmosphere was dull. This is like a lunch spot for guys with very little time. Served in carry out containers even if your eating there. Does not deserve 4.5 stars. Only place I ate at cuz the misleading reviews. Never again.

I used to work here. Food is handled with proper sanitation. In addition it is delicious!!! I gained so much weight working here for like 3 years. I wish this place would move to California. Never found a place like it. «Unique»

A gem within Port Arthur that I never imagined existed! It is your atypical deep fried southern version of what seafood is but with the flavor they have and the pricing, you can’t beat that in PA. You can’t go wrong with any of their Salt and Pepper plates and they have a fantastic variety of foods on the menu. The only downside for me where the service(not exactly the warmest Asian reception you’ll get) and the sides they claim to be salads and fries with the plates. The salad is always hot and never fresh and the fries are tasteless and saggy. Overall a definite go to place for me…

The salt and pepper shrimp and catfish was great. I don’t regularly eat fried foods, but this was really good. The breading was light and the crushed red pepper and the scallions added great flavor. If you are looking for a little hole in the wall place with great food at a good price for a quick lunch, this is a find…

We eat the fried catfish and fried shrimp often. Always fresh tasting and seasoned well. Their french fries are way too salty though. Great tartar sauce. Prices are reasonable. Preparation time is OK.

Ehh, if you want generic fried seafood at a good price. Then this is the place. Other than that I wasn’t impressed.

Every time my wife and I visit family in the area we make a point to stop by Bruce’s at least once. It’s by far the best quick seafood restaurant in the area. Although their menu is pretty large, we usually get the same thing, large fried shrimp and catfish and it’s always great. The last time we went in the wait wasn’t too bad at all and their prices are very reasonable.

Salt and pepper combo(chicken wings and shrimp) w/fried rice and extra flavor(must add extra flavor). We(everyone in my department) orders this every Friday and we act like a kid on Christmas when we open the to-go box. If I were to eat one last thing this would at the top of the list!

VERY busy spot! I asked for a take out menu and lady said they didn’t have one because the items change so much(?), ok, whatever. Still the menu on the wall looked pretty permanent to me. Although there were hand written papers tacked around the pass through window. So I guess that’s where we were getting that menu info from. I got the salt & pepper shrimp so praised by Troy(I think). It was divine. Hot and fresh, with pepper flakes and green onions on top(I’d have taken more of those, thank you). Also the vietnamese egg rolls were really tasty, much better that their Chinese counterparts. Easty to find location of a corner, limited parking, busy. This is not McDonalds, folks, but well worth the little wait. I’m not complaining, my mouths full.

Champagne tastes on a beer budget, and 5 Star fresh seafood for the blue collar worker. I am originally from this area, but have since moved away to the Austin area. Ever since I have learned about this great place from my family(word of mouth advertising is the best) I make it a primary stop to get great fresh fast seafood at an affordable price EVERYTIME I visit. THELOCATION: Aesthetics, don’t fuss over them, because this is where the locals eat simple great tasting seafood prepared by a talented Vietnamese family. The place is a re-purposed building that has simple seating, laminated menus on the wall, and the specials written on paper stuck on the same wall. There is no fancy advertising, catchy theme, or trendy dishes. Just find what you like, tell them the number and wait for your freshly prepared meal. The most modern things they have in there are the TV’s to bide your time, and drink coolers to get a beverage from while you wait. One of the great things about the atmosphere itself are the people who go there. This a pure blue collar hard working town, and the lunch time crowds on a payday can be large, and don’t be fooled into thinking this is a job site by all the large trucks and contractors hanging out in the parking lot… they are all there for the food. THEFOOD The 2 main items I always eat, depending on my flavor mood and reasoning, are the Salt & Pepper Chicken wings or the Salt & Pepper Shrimp. Personally I prefer the shrimp since wings are not always my favorite thing to eat. From talking to the family members who work the front, the items are prepared simple. A hot wok fire, oil, your items lightly breaded in corn starch, then tossed in the wok/pan. Inside the searing pan they toss in: a few seasonings, red pepper flakes, and finish off with julienned cut green onions. The oil is so hot that it fry’s the green onions almost stiff with a slight crunch at times(tasty and nice). In the finish, they lightly coat the shrimp/chicken choice with fresh sea salt to complete the fresh taste. Your main selection is rested on a bed of french fries, white bread, and a small salad(on the side) then all presented to you in open to-go container for your approval. Personally, the presentation is a great touch for a small place that ensures you that you get what you ordered each time. I ordered 3 portions to-go for my family and they opened each and every box for my approval. THEPRICE The average price for the Salt & Pepper Shrimp is about $ 10(plus tax). That includes 12 medium/large shrimp. Well worth the affordable price. I challenge another restaurant to come close for the taste, food, and value. They keep their costs simple and low in overhead to pass on the great flavor to you. THEFINALWORD So the next time that you are in the Port Arthur, Texas area either for work, family, or because you wanted to see a hard working town recover from 3 major hurricanes in the past years. Give the great family at Bruce’s Seafood Café a visit, and see how and why they have endured the hurricanes, trendy restaurants, and fly-by ideas of other businesses to provide great tasting, fast prepared seafood at a low cost for a community that celebrates is heritage and diversity. And if you happen to eat something else on the menu. let me know, because there is always room in my heart for more to love than just Shrimp and Chicken!
