Smuggler’s Landing Restaurant & Lounge

If you’re looking for dining in Port Angeles with a view, your options are limited. One of the few is ‘The Landing’. The interior is a little dated, but I can overlook that… the service was excellent and well timed. Prices are very reasonable. I have the Steak Oscar… the steak was average, but I don;t believe it rested enough after coming out of the oven because there was a lot of blood on the plate. In addition, I asked for medium and it was rare. The upside is it came with a big mound of Dungeness Crab which was stunning. My dad had the friend oyster plate. He swears by this and say they have the best friend oysters in P.A. (thats how locals refer to Port Angeles. The also have some nice smaller scaled down options for around ten bucks… a hit with seniors. I think I would eat in the bar next time.

We just had drinks, so I can’t comment on food, but service was top-​notch. Only the barkeep working and he handled our group of 8 plus other customers well. Kept us happy and was smiling the whole time. Support him! Great place.

Great place to take the family when you want to catch the game. Great service. I love their fries! With a side of their homemade ranch dressing. The Fish & Chips were a staple when I was pregnant with our newest lo.

My wife and I came here four years ago on our honeymoon, and again when we visited for our anniversary this weekend. As I’ve seen others say, the portions are large, the food is great, and the staff are friendly. If this place were close to where I live or work, it would become a regular haunt.

Just got out after talking to the manager.
Went in with my wife and 85 year old dad. My dad had said there were good fish and chips.
My dad ordered f&c, and my wife and I ordered bowls of clam chowder with a side of garlic bread. I ordered a beer that I had to remind the server about.
Food came.
First there was laughter about the garlic bread. I kid you not, there were two pieces of bread the size of fifty cent pieces. The server asked what was wrong, and I told him that I was expecting something at least the size of a hotdog bun. We got crostini. No offer for more.
The clam chowder was really raw celery chowder and inedible. Hardly any clams or potatoes-​you couldn’t tell because of all the RAW celery. After picking through the bowl, there was still a quarter full of celery. Get the idea that there was a lot of celery?
Between the three of us, we dropped $ 44 before tip.
As I said at the outset, we went in and talked to the manager. Happened to be server from last night. He was all, «That’s the way we always do it, I wish you had said something last night, and we can’t do anything about it now.»
Really? I can, and I just did. There’s a reason why people are flocking to the Crab Bowl or whatever it’s called across the street. I wish we had.

This is a solid place to stop in for some quick grub. You usually sit upstairs since that’s where you can see the ferry coming in which is cool. We got the cod and chips which was pretty good. It’s not the best food ever, but service is always quick and the food is filling.

Excellent fish and chips. Clam chowder was good too. Can sit outside on patio with dogs. Waiter brought big bowl of water for them. Right next to the ferry to Victoria, so lots of authentic ambiance to go with eating fish. Rest of menu looks interesting.

I have eaten a lot of mushroom Swiss burgers over my many year. And most even «Cheesecake factory» and «Red Robin» are bland just meat, no flavor cheese and mushrooms that you know were directly from a can. But I always got for the mushroom Swiss burgers that is what I got. It was amazing the meat was full flavor I could actually taste the Swiss and he mushrooms were big and sautéed nicely before they put them on the burger. I fully recommend at least trying one.

I should have read these reviews before coming here. A day after eating here, I was on the toilet and in bed for two days! Don’t eat here, unless you want horrible stomach pains and a severe case of the red ass!!! I’ll never eat at this hole again. We ate crab and both got really sick.

I should of followed the advice of others. I recently are there and had the crab roll. I’ve been experiencing some of the worst explosive diarrhea know to man. I’ve had food poisoning in Mexico and that was minuscule compared to this. If you need to lose weight quick or an excuse to buy a new toilet then eat here. If not stay away.

Went here the other day after a birthday party. My husband and I were really looking forward to fish and chips. Food was decent very small portions of fish but large portion of fries. Kids macaroni is decent size portion but it comes with no sides and no drink included for $ 5.99. Plus it’s like kraft out of the box with extra cheese added. Besides the fact that the food was about average the service was poor which is why we will not be returning. Our waitress never stopped long enough for us to order drinks we barely got our food ordered before she was off again. The place was not busy so there was no excuse except she wanted to chit chat at the bar area with some lady who walked in stayed for a chat and then left.

The food was excellent and the waitstaff friendly. I had the calamari and the strips were the biggest I’ve ever had! Clams were tasty in the special sauce. We will come back.

Fish and Chips are a bit overpriced for portion size, though it was good. Older gentleman on staff was not very pleasant while our waitress was better. Crab and Cream Cheese Chipotle Dip was phenomenal. I would go back and make that my meal.

Tourist trap! Don’t go. The fish and chips was not worth mentioning and the portion was small.
The calamari apps. Do not order. Very small portion and it tasted gross. I never had that bad of calamari before. The texture is just weird almost spongy.

Generally, I am not one to review restaurants. However, the silverware I received at this restaurant still had remnants of food on it, the burger was still completely raw on the inside (maybe that’s some people’s preference, but the waiter didn’t ask how I’d like it cooked), and I’m pretty sure I got sick from the food. Not to mention, the food was overpriced, especially for the quality of it. Wouldn’t recommend!!!

DO NOT EAT HERE. Food Poisoning
I wasn’t going to write a review, because I like to support local, but after hearing several other people experienced the same, I needed to warn others. My wife and I got very sick after eating here. It was definitely cross contamination on the lettuce. Two other friends were violently ill after eating their salad. DO NOT eat here until they fire their lazy cook and get their act together. It’s not worth the risk.
I am a former ServSafe instructor and recognized the illness as salmonella poisoning, most likely from cross contamination.

A great place for good food, large portions very nice staff. Plus community minded
Order burgers or fish and chips

The fish tacos were very unique. I loved them, but be sure to ask for a full description as they are very different from other fish tacos. They have a good selection of microbrews including a couple of locals. Bottoms line: go here while waiting for the ferry.

This place was gross, the food was terrible, and the service sucked. I was incredibly disappointed as my friends who came to visit me from Chicago wanted to have some authentic seafood while they were on the peninsula.
Our server left half way through service and didn’t even tell us so we had to wait even longer to get our check. I would never recommend this place to anyone.

This place is terrible. The food is disgusting, over priced, and in some cases not very well portioned. The décor is outdated and mismatched and the dining area is dirty. The only good thing I consumed while here was a beer that they had from a local brewery. The only reason we ended up here was bad luck/​bad group decision making wherein our group (a rather large group) had some terrible lapses in communication. The only thing that might potentially be a positive is how friendly our waitress was, but even there the service was slow and had several errors.
Do yourself a favor and never, ever, eat here.
