This is my second checkin but I’ve been here many times. I have yet to eat from the lunch menu. The breakfast is great. Good solid food. The portions are good. The price is fair. Typically my wife and I spend 30 to 40 dollars. Which is eggs, bacon, hash, pancake, coffee and orange juice for 2. The staff are always welcoming and friendly. It’s a quirky decorated place, but we like it. If your in town try it out. We are regulars.

Got seated quickly, staff friendly greeting. Locals come here. Bacon, eggs, hash browns, toast + pancake was good. They heat maple syrup up so it flows easily. Bacon and egg sandwich and coffee was good. Neat decorations. Food came fast.

Coffee, pancakes, and great service are the highlights here. Other selections over priced and okay to average.

Come here a couple times a year and always a winner for breakfast and always busy but good service. Good old fashioned breakfast diner style without the grease. Pretty varied combinations for breakfast something sure to please most. Friendly staff. If you want high end décor and foo foo menu this ain’t the place. If you want traditional breakfast with Good service and reasonable not bargain prices try here.

Shirley’s is a breakfast place — get breakfast and you can’t go wrong. The cook is awesome and clearly loves his job. In short, completely solid!

The atmosphere is kinda like not classy… but the food is good! My bacon looked oven baked. I ordered the #2…2 bacon, 2 eggs and hash browns… I got 5 pieces of bacon and at least 3 – 4 eggs. It is spendier than I would’ve thought, but the portions are huge.

One of the best breakfasts I’ve ever had! I got the steak with hash browns and eggs and it was so much better than I expected! Large portions and super friendly people! My steak was cooked perfectly and all my food was amazing!

Save yourselves! The«Swiss» cheese on the mushroom ‘swiss burger’ was processed cheese food. The mushrooms were from a can. I’m NOTKIDDING! They opened a can of pre-sliced mushrooms and dried them off on the griddle-they certainly weren’t grilled or even fried-and then put them on top of a frozen and very strange tasting burger. It was an odd texture. As if it had pork in it, maybe. Or something, I’m not sure what. It was the texture that got me… sort of… springy and spongy. The ‘swiss’ cheese had turned into liquid. It wasn’t even quality processed cheese. How is it possible that you can miss on EVERY single item on the plate? There wasn’t any mustard or relish at all, nothing but some generic tasting mayo or something on the one lonely side of the burger. My brother ordered a veggie sandwich and guess what it was? Two cucumber slices, tomato and a thin piece of lettuce on a gummy piece of white bread. For $ 7.59. It came with some off tasting potato salad. We argued that it could have been from using Miracle Whip or maybe a bit too much vinegar in the recipe. It stayed on the plate. The tuna sandwich, hah! No relish, celery, onion… nothing in it. Nothing. Just a bit of poorly drained tuna, so so mayonnaise and white bread. It was WET! Wet… ugh. Even the waitress apologized and said she couldn’t do anything about it. No one finished their food, it was horrible and expensive, frozen and poorly cooked, everything that could come out of a can or a freezer did so. Weak coffee and the waitress claimed they were ‘more known’ for breakfast. I ask you, if they can’t even slice a mushroom would you eat here? Would you? Worst meal I’ve had in years. Bar none.

Good and solid, but not great, greasy spoon, diner-style breakfast food that is a bit on the high side price-wise. The hash browns are especially good. We ordered them with onions and green peppers, each ingredient costs extra, but worth it, if you like that sort of thing. My wife and I also ordered eggs over easy and they were okay, as they should be for a place that serves only breakfast and lunch. I also ordered one biscuit with sausage gravy that was too heavy on the creamy gravy and too light on the sausage. The service is friendly and efficient. The coffee was a little too weak and watery for my taste, since we have an espresso machine at home I may be spoiled, but the waitress kept my cup full and I finally had to let her know that I wanted no more. The ambiance is a bit quirky with old license plates, from practically every state, hanging from the walls and ceiling. There are old photos of US Presidents: Eisenhower, FDR, and an amateurish painting of John F. Kennedy. The chairs are high-backed and on rollers, making it east to swivel and get up and out in any direction. If you’re looking for an old-fashioned American style breakfast, this place is okay.

The food at Shirley’s is not actually bad, but whoever you are and whatever your skill level, you could make a better breakfast at home. And not have to pay $ 5 for one scrambled egg.

On a weekend trip to PA, my boyfriend brought me here for breakfast. Love that it’s a local spot, family owned, and friendly. The ladies working were very sweet and the food was delivered quick after ordering. This wasn’t the best, nor the worst, breakfast I’ve ever had. It was simply scrambled eggs, toast, and hash browns. I’d love to go back again one day when visiting. The atmosphere was enjoyable for a snowy, slow morning and I was thoroughly entertained by the decorations.

My husband and I took a day trip to Port Angeles and stopped her for breakfast. We seated ourselves and we very quickly brought 2 glasses of water. I had a bacon and cheese omelette with home fries and toast, while my husband had a belgian waffle. Our food was brought to us very quickly after placing our order, and we were given a carafe of water so that we wouldn’t run out while we were eating. I thought the food was very enjoyable. The potatoes were crispy. The omelette was packed with bacon and cheese. My husbands waffle was crunchy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. The syrup was served warm. Our server was very friendly. Our only complaint was that the restaurant was slightly expensive for the portions that we were given. It was around $ 11 for my omelette and around $ 6 for his waffle. Make sure to enjoy the quirky décor. There are license plates all over the walls and ceiling(and some of them have funny sayings on them). There are also several windchimes hanging from the ceiling and a few posters on the walls. Make sure to check out the poster of license plates. Some of the plates on the poster are pretty amusing.

I recently moved to PA from LA. A cousin recommended this quaint restaurant. This is a well-kept local secret. Gourmet food it is NOT — just your good comfort food served by friendly people. Many, like me, regularly eat breakfast here because it is consistently good. And, if you are a kid of any age, the train running around the ceiling is a definite magnet. It is a little hard to find, but definitely worth the effort.

I’m in a «moving to a new town» state of chaos and sorely needed a good breakfast and COFFEE! I’d spotted Sihirley’s Café my first day in town and it looked like a «locals» kinda place — my favorite! Self-seating, first cup of coffee arrived promptly — yay! So far, so good! Unfortunately, the food was mediocre — and spendy for what you get($ 11.33 for the standard 2-egg & sausage w/coffee b’fast). Then again, I’m new to PA and perhaps the prices are a bit higher than Vancouver/Portland and Seattle prices I’m used to paying for breakfast! I digress … eggs were undercooked — really runny!, country potatoes were *way* undercooked, sausage patty was *perfect* and the homemade biscuit was small and dry — the jam in the li’l plastic cups appeared to be old/dryish! A second cup of coffee was offered as I took my last bite — *sigh* — the third cup arrived in a relatively timely manner. Lots of wait staff on hand — no idea why coffee refills were so slooow! All-in-all, I was disappointed — doubt I’ll return. Addenda: As I was typing this, a waitress appeared with a To-Go menu — I’d told her I was new in town! That added a star!

On a recent February road trip with Don L, celebrating the 2 year anniversarry of when we met. he surprised me with a trip out to the pennisula and down the coast. We hit Port Angeles at a perfect time to have ‘brunch’. Our random decision maker was working well this weekend. Driving through town, we came across Shirley’s and new it was the place. It gives off all the right«here since the dawn of time, local establishment’ vibes… even from the curb. Inside, it was a fest of kitsch and kooky. Old license plates cover nearly every available surface from the ceiling on down, with photos of the likes of JFK, Jackie O, Elvis and various former Presidents and such mixed in for good measure. And let’s not forget the dozens of windchimes and silly«old timey» signs and random bumper stickers as well… I think it would take hours to actually view it all. The food was exactly what good, local greasy spoon, owned and worked by the same people for decades is. Perfectly crisp hashbrowns, ample slices of bacon or patties of sausage, coffee strong enough to put hair on your chest… The wait staff was super friendly, and had us pegged as «tourists» before we sat ourselves in the awesome circa 1970’s full backed diner chairs.(think 13 coins…) They chatted us up and doted on us our entire meal. I’d definitely go here again on my next trip through PA.
