My dad and I made a pit stop on our way home from the players tournament and we experience great service, hospitality, and some of the best ribs we’ve ever had! They were catering for the tournament and didn’t have much room in the smoker because of the event, but they made room to make sure we could try some of their delicious ribs too. I finished my huge plate never more happy with every delicious bite I ate. Next stop in Jacksonville we will definitely be stopping back in!

Great bbq! I had the small pulled pork platter with Mac and cheese and potato salad. It was excellent! My boss had the rack of ribs with baked beans(which he raved about!) and Cole slaw, and his wife had the pulls pork platter with cheesy potatoes and Cole slaw. All of it was excellent. Also we tried the corn nuggets which were sweet and delicious! I would recommend this place to anyone looking for good barbecue in Jacksonville! The two sauces they give you are great one their own but even better mixed together. 10⁄10

The best pulled pork ever. Extra tender and juicy. Love that they have multiple sauces to try. Loved the Georgia one with mustard. Also had the brisket sandwich with peppers and provolone. I just wish I lived closer…

Just wonderful hole in the wall in Ponte Vedra beach. I come here from 60 miles away 2 or 3 times a year and never miss earing here. Several home made sauces are the stars, but I like the Memphis and Kansas City the best. Brisket is chopped not sliced, which I would prefer, but it is very good. Chicken is moist and tasty and the one time I had ribs they were very good. Hard to find but worth looking for.

Pulled turkey salad seriously the best: I haven’t found anything better than this and this is from an almost vegetarian. Turkey is soft, tender, smokey flavor and literally melts in your mouth. Love, love their balsamic vingrette(slightly sweet) soo good. I tried one if their barbecue sauces(not sure which one) and it was sweet and delicious too. Collard greens were the best too, almost sweet flavor that is rare to find as it is usually bitter. I seriously crave these on a regular basis. Fried corn on the cob is delicious too. Green beans were ok, I’ve had better. First time I had them there was no flavor but lately they have been better. The food here isn’t the healthiest but it’s very satisfying. Don’t expect much from the inside, it’s kinda small and has an open kitchen(good and bad) you can literally smell everything being cooked especially the fried food. Don’t quote them on their hours: I think it’s funny how they have posted opening times on their door as 11ish and 12ish(on Sunday’s).

Yum! Teeny tiny corner shop with only 6 tables and a bar area but boy do they serve up big tasting food! The portions are large and the prices are very fair. The smoked chicken was tender and juicy and the cheesy potatoes lived up to their name. Husband loved the fall off the bone ribs and he enjoyed tasting the different sauces. Get the corn nuggets. Crispy on the outside yet creamy on the inside. Our waitress was very sweet and helpful. We plan to visit again in a few days!

I judge professional BBQ contests so I know what is good BBQ. Barb and Wally’s is not competition quality; but very, very few restaurants have anything on their menu that is competition worthy. B&W is very good restaurant quality and well worth the effort to visit. I have eaten here on four occasions and each time was very pleased with the quality and quantity received. Much, much better than the big package BBQ places and in the upper tier of mom and pop joints.

The BBQ here is really good and they have an excellent range of different sauces. The only criticism I have is that when it comes to ribs, I prefer a dry-rub vs wet-sauce and they only seem to have wet-sauce style ribs on the menu. Other than that, the food is always hot and tastes great! I’ve been back here several times and will continue to frequent.

After visiting a few years ago, I was in town again and had to make sure I stopped in again. Food was awesome and service was great and friendly. They are a small place so get ready to wait if your there at lunch time. But it’s well worth the wait…

4.5 the bad … the sides. i didn’t like any of them … dishwasher was broken and they were only serving — «to go” — to keep from increasing the number of dishes they had to wash. whaaaaat??? but things happen … the ceiling needs cleaning & repair … they were out of brisket … the kitchen area seemed clean and that is what was important(to me) … the good … appetizer … fried corn is pretty good. THEBABYRIBS !!! personally I am not a big fan of baby backs. they are a more tender cut of rib and not as hard to cook BUT i haven’t had real good one in a long time BUT these are pretty DAMNGOOD. Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh my!!! I didn’t know what to expect, a reviewer or two said they were fatty … BUT not in m case! Sheeeeeeeshhh!!! The half rack is «a plenty» for sure!!! Chicken … just needed a dash of salt but the test is the white meat, which people overcook and usually comes up dry. not in this case — moist and with a touch of smoke. it was very good but i’m in love with the ribs, the chicken will have to wait but it is good! I put their mustard based sauce on the side, «Georgia» it was a HiT! Did I say the ribs were good??? They were better than good — some of the best I have had! Try ‘em Try ‘em You won’t be sorry unless all of your taste buds are under the bottom of your feet … I most definitely will be back … Jenkins … I love you but I have a new girlfriend now — Down South

Things around Sawgrass Marriot are expensive and not so good. I just happen to find this place on Unilocal and it was outstanding. They have a variety of sauces from all over the place. They go well with their BBQ, pulled pork, and brisket. They are juicy and tender.

Stopped in during a road trip. The two guys working were very friendly. The owner(I’m guessing) had me laughing the whole time. The food was AMAZING. All the barbecue sauces are made in house. The fried okra were delicious and not too salty. I ordered the sloppy joe and collards. Holy crap was it perfect. HUGE portions. The collard greens were some of the best I’ve had. My boyfriend ordered the cheesesteak and he said it was great. If we are ever back in the area we will definitely stop by again. All in all some of the best barbecue I’ve enjoyed. Thanks again!!!

Tender, moist shredded pork & beef with a variety of tasty bbq sauces. The aroma hugs you at the door of this hole in the wall eatery in one of the many strip malls. While you couldn’t pick it out of a line up driving by, I’m glad Unilocal helped us to find it for a filling & satisfying lunch. The owner was friendly & helpful in guiding us through a simple but thought provoking menu.

In town for a wedding and tried Wally and Barb’s and we were not disappointed! My husband had the Philly Texas Style which was a great twist on a classic sandwich and I had the baby back ribs. Everything was great. I must say that my personal favorites were the CHEESEYPOTATOES and the CORNNUGGETS.

I live in the area and was a regular. However I have noticed that the place has become very run down. It is a shame because the ribs are very good. You get a sense of how dirty the place is starting with the front door. It looks like it has never been cleaned. The inside of the place is just as bad. Ceiling fans are covered in dust. Worst of all the kitchen is caked in grease. In conclusion, they have lost my business until they clean up their act.

Ribs were good, but unfortunately the rest of the items we ordered were not so great. The pulled brisket was dry, macaroni and cheese was bland, and the collard greens were a bit too greasy for our tastes. The bbq sauces they have are unique and flavorful, but no amount could save the brisket.

Corn nuggets. Sauce selection. And good Cue! The choice of sauces is awesome, but the bar-b-cue is so good you don’t even need the sauce!

And the search for great BBQ in Jax marches on. I stopped by Barb and Wally’s on a Friday night recently to try out the ribs. It’s a little mom and pop type of place on the far end of the same strip as Pussers in Ponte Vedra. I typically really like these little places, and I really wanted to love Barb’s but it fell flat on a few things. I ordered a half rack of ribs with cheese potatoes and fried corn on the cobb. They said it would take about ten minutes for the ribs. I’m not sure where they are smoking these, but I guess they store them afterwards and reheat them on the grill for 10 minutes or so. That might be my fault for coming in late. The ribs were ok. They were really big for the price(about $ 13 with two sides), but they were fatty. The sauces that they make in house are crazy good. The Georgia sauce is a spicy mustard based BBQ sauce, which was my favorite. The vinegar and tomato based sauces are also delicious. The sides are good here. The cheese potatoes were like hash browns with cheese, which were pretty good. The fried corn on the cobb was really good. They take an ear of corn, halve it, give it some sort of garlic rub down and toss it in the deep fryer. It sounds greasy, but it’s really not. It was probably my favorite thing here. They also serve the ribs with the obligatory piece of white bread texas toast. I doubt I’d go far out of my way to come here but I would probably stop by again if I was in the neighborhood. Not sure about all of the 5 star reviews…
