It’s so great to have a place like this in Pompano Beach where you can get together and hang out, enjoy a band, a free movie, watch kids play in the fountain, or get an exercise class in. This is something Pompano I has needed for a long time and really adds to the city.

Whimsical Walks In The Grass & Sand In Beautiful Pompano Beach SITREP Just north of Ft. Lauderdale, lies this beautiful stretch of beach, with white sands, salty air, and the rhythmic crashing of the waves… THESETUP The Great Law, as it is called, is because it is a multi-purpose area that can be utlized for festival, and day events where people can stroll on the grassy lawn adjacent to the beach. And yet with the beach so close, it is easy to sprint off quickly to the sand as well! CONCESSIONS&REFRESHMENT There is a nice picnic table to chill & relax as well, and catch some refreshments! NIGHTSTROLLS But the funny thing is, as much as I LOVE getting sunburned on the beach during the day — and this beach is no exception — this has been one of the most transcendent sandy points I’ve enjoyed in the continental 48 states that is PERFECT for a midnight stroll by oneself, or with a friend or two. While here on my last Ft. Lauderdale trip in December, I was able to enjoy not just one, but TWO midnight strolls in fact! The Milky Way is panoramic here, and this was the spot where I first enjoyed really using my smartphone app«Skyview», because the astronomical views were breathtaking here. THELOWDOWN The perfect beach spot for NIGHT!

I grew up on and off in Pompano. When I was here, there was no great lawn. Now with the refurbishment of the area, new money coming in as well as all the upcoming construction — this area is the little Brooklyn of South Florida. Lots of fun things to do including the great lawn with the fountain shooting water from the floor.(The kids love it) Parking was surprisingly easy as was getting in and out of the area. I will definitely be back when in the area. Its the easier and cheaper place to go compared to the hustle and bustle of the beaches off Los Olas.

I had never heard of The Great Lawn until the Unilocal Spring Break event. My gps showed it was on the beach, but I thought maybe it would be the back part of a hotel. It turned out to be a cool concept of this open space right in the prime real estate of the beach boardwalk. I think the greatest appeal is that you can have a closed off private event right here while being literally on the beach. The parking is quite convenient too. There is an open lot adjacent to The Great Lawn. The downside is that if there was an event at The Great lawn then the parking area would not accommodate everyone. However, there are additional parking alternatives along the streets. The city takes advantage of this spot with their monthly Music Under the Stars series. As I said, when I visited, it was for a Unilocal event. There was plenty of space for all kinds of vendors to set up. The area was in a L shaped mostly along the boardwalk and then a path lined with vendors leading right to the sand of the beach. As a local I was impressed, so I can only imagine what the out-of-towners must think. There are some good places to grab some drinks and food from only mere feet from The Great lawn. Nearby is Galley, specializing in specialty seafood burgers. There is also the Riverside Grille with waterfront dining. The Briny Pub has Irish dishes as well as occasional live music.
