Living in Boston for the last three years has resulting in me being deprived of any authentic tacos so this review may be a bit biased… But you can’t really go wrong with Alex’s. Their tacos are $ 1.10, they don’t skim on the meat or the cilantro and onions, and their red sauce is fire. Their horchata’s not bad either, never had a bad experience with service, always get a smile from the ladies at the front. Best of it, it’s a hole in the wall hidden in a small alley so I’ve never had a problem with waiting or it being crowded, even during lunch or dinner rush hour. The surrounding area may be considered«ghetto» by some but growing up in Pomona, it’s nothing new. Definitely a hidden gem.

I was really excited to try out this place based on the reviews I’ve been reading. First off, the parking in the back is very tight. If you have a big car you may want to consider parking on the street side but make sure you’re aware of your surroundings, the location is kind of on the ghetto side. When you go in, the place is small. So be prepared to wait for a table or to take it to go. This place can get busy. As for the tacos, it’s pretty good. The meat portion is generous and the salsa is hot. Ask for it on the side so you can put as much or as little of it. I’ve only ordered the carne asada tacos so I can’t comment on any of the other food. But it is definitely worth trying this place out.

So far the best taco, burrito, and quesadillas I have found and trust. They are busy so call ahead of time! The prices are cheap for some good tasty food. Favorites include hard shell tacos De birria, carne asada or Al pastor burritos and tacos, and large quesadillas. Have eaten here many times, but a bad experience yet!

Came here based on Unilocal reviews and I will say it’s not a fancy place but the food rocks it’s inexpensive and very tasty ! If your looking to eat some tacos or burritos and don’t have access to a taco man this is the place, the tacos de lengua are bomb too! I will be coming back for sure!

The tacos here are great. BUT the service and management is terrible. When you order your food they do not give you a number. They just shout what you ordered. This is awful because this place gets packed and guess what most of the time what you order perhaps someone else ordered the same thing. I already seen customers and the staff confused of who the food belongs to. There was one customer who’s food got stolen from someone else. They should have tickets with the receipt they do sell them I hope they know that. If it’s your first time coming here be prepared for the headache

Ok so I recently moved to Pomona and was craving a good taco Tuesday. We turned to Unilocal for a little guidance. This place had 4.5 with 67 reviews so we decided to head in. They don’t give discounts for tacos on tacos Tuesday, but they don’t need it. Prices are great EVERYDAY! $ 1.10 per taco everyday! I got asada and carnitas. Can I just say, the asada was heaven!!! Oh my gosh! Seriously tasted so great! The carnitas on the other hand lacked flavor to me. It was definitely missing some pop. My boyfriend got chicken and he enjoyed the floor too. The tortillas were perfect too! Not dry at all, a little moist but not oily. If you’re in the middle for tacos, hit this place up! Downside: parking looks super sketch in the back near a creepy alleyway. Also, it’s freezing in there. We are our food there, but next time we will just take it to go.

New spot to go to for tacos, the tacos are about $ 1.10 each but you really can’t go wrong with that. Prices pretty much average around that in Pomona. The flavor is good and it’s not too greasy like some taco places.

Good taco shop. I tried the lengua and tripas tacos first. The lengua was tender but not a lot of flavor. The tripas was crispy, mildly gamey, and enjoyable. Then I had the dish they’re getting famous for, the birria tacos. I had one of each, beef and goat. The beef was pretty bland, the goat was much more flavorful. They’re unique and delicious tacos, fried on the grill so they’re crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Overall good tacos, might be great if they would just season the meat. A little salt makes a world of difference. I’ll be back for more birria; there’s not a lot of places that serve it, and it was a nice change.

Talk about knowing a great hole in the wall place to eat. This place fits that bill. Small, low key, humble locale. Omg, this place has some great tasting tacos and burritos, which my sis found. $ 1.10 tacos, wow! Meat is seasoned perfectly! Tacos, burritos, menudo, posole, sopes, and more on their menu. Definitely will return.

Another stand out taco joint in Pomona. This isn’t just another taco shop. Ok it is another taco shop, but it’s not«just another taco shop». Comprende? Yo entiendo. First. $ 1 tacos. If you complain about that then do not come here. Alex is more than welcome to take my money in exchange for some delicious, fresh off the grill meat and corn tortillas. Tacos are topped with onions and cilantro, and some red sauce. SPICY red sauce. At one point I considered asking for tacos without the sauce, but it is too good to give up. Second. Free salsa bar. They have pickled carrots/jalapenos, pickled onions, beets, limes, red and green sauce. This alone is a steal. I hate restaurants that are stingy with their condiments(ahem, King Taco), so Alex’s tacos takes the beans on this one. Lastly, this place is super ghetto. Not gonna lie. But it’s worth it for the food. The workers there are super chill and nice, and they’ll definitely take care of you. Parking can be difficult since they’re located on a main street. I haven’t parked in their personal parking lot(very small driveway) so I usually park on the street in front of the store. I’d highly recommend coming here if you go to WesternU

It’s a little past two, I’m tired and beat I’m finished with work, I’m ready to eat I’m looking for something with rice, beans, and meat I chose Alex’s Tacos from the many among There’s a front single step when you enter this space(BECAREFUL!) It’s a mom-and-pop neighborhood hole-in-the-wall place When I see the meat choices, my heart starts to race And an idea in my mind has sprung! A «con todo» burrito with tongue That’s what I said A «con todo» burrito with tongue A «con todo» burrito with tongue They warmed the tortilla on their very hot grill The chopped up the lengua; my burrito did fill Poured a spoonful of salsa, not one drop they did spill Scoops of rice and the beans they had flung I added lechuga for a fresh crunchy pop Onions, cilantro they sprinkled on top I took my first bite, and for a while I just couldn’t stop My happy bells inside of me were rung A «con todo» burrito with tongue Woah Woah Woah I tell ya A «con todo» burrito with tongue A «con todo» burrito with tongue I’ve had their $ 1 tacos with and beef and pork street-style Small and petite But so good, hard to beat Lengua’s great, but it’s a meat I can have only once-in-a-while So when I feel the need To Alex’s Tacos I’ll speed For A «con todo» burrito with tongue Woah Woah Woah I tell ya A «con todo» burrito with tongue A «con todo» burrito with tongue

Okay! So, my daughter-in-law and I came to this place Alex’s Taco’s … We ordered 2 burritos and 4 tacos. Let me tell ya my burrito de carnitas con todo it was good and burrito de carne asada con todo that was for my son well he couldn’t finish it too much chili too hot! Daughter in law had the tacos which she loves tacos she didn’t like they were to bland and had fat pieces. But, this is the place if you love chili they got it. Hmm, now that I recall I didn’t get chili in my burrito?

I am the type of customer that goes to the said restaurant at least twice a month,(I gotta cook myself sometimes) so I will say of what I have seen… Alex’s Tacos is by far my favorite Taco Joint in Pomona, the meats are amazing, the drinks are fair enough, but overall I’d say great place for Tacos. To be more specific the meats are great, they range from Asada, Chicken(Pollo), Guts(Tripas), and so on, and I am a Tripas Lover. You may say yuck at first, but hear me out people, These Guts are quite tasty and crunchy, the way they are cooked here is quite a knocker. The other meats I have yet to find anything wrong with, no fat parts, ETC. So thats another award I can give to Alex. The location is small, I suggest not getting your hopes up for seating if you plan to go in the Afternoon. Overall I’d say Alex deserves a 9⁄10 the only flaw being the small location.

Summary: Awesome, toasty street tacos for $ 1 each. Great salsas, too(nice and spicy). A tiny place with about five or six tables and a parking lot. Very nice staff. Recommend the carnitas and al pastor. Bring cash, or pay a $ 0.50 credit card transaction fee. My wife and I came here on a Saturday just before 6pm for some dinner after doing beer tasting at the nearby Sanctum Brewing Company. We were in the mood for some recovery food, and this sounded fantastic(also it was 0.3 miles away). We pulled into the mostly-empty parking lot behind the building and followed the wonderful smells emanating from the building inside the back entrance. The restaurant is definitely small, but it had pretty much every table occupied with more patrons coming in and out throughout our visit. We started by ordering two carne asada tacos, two carnitas tacos, one pollo taco, and one al pastor taco, all with onions, cilantro, and salsa on soft corn tortillas. I grabbed a couple cups of green and red salsa to help spice up our meal(the red has a nice kick!) and some limes while we waited for our food to be made. Soon it was done and we dived in. These tacos were fantastic. Super hot, fresh off the grill, but oh so tasty. The quality of the meat was also excellent(no gristly, chewy bits). After demolishing those six, we ordered two more al pastor tacos and devoured those, too. The total for the eight tacos came to just over $ 8, so it was a bargain for such great-tasting tacos. If we are in the area again, we would definitely come back.

argh. what a fail! I’ve driven myself mad bc I had high hopes for an authentic taco place with great reviews. But, it must of been a long night for the two employees in the back bc there was nothing special about my tacos. as a matter of fact, they skimp out on the onions & cilantro. & I love onions & cilantro on my tacos! it was a sad night for me. The asada was good but the texture was a little different probably bc I was given most of the fat. also, the chicken was dry and again, the crappy end of the stick with the pollo taco. I won’t be returning bc I’ll be scared for my life considering the location & the stare down I received from the vatos. Yes, people… Asians eat tacos too.

Great tacos! I ordered 2 carne asada tacos just to try them but went right back to the register to order 2 more because they were so good: P the salsa they give you on the tacos is pretty spicy so ask for it on the side so you can put as much or as little as you wish. When you pick up your order there are self serve containers of jalapeños/carrots, radishes, limes, etc. along with small plates. There is a parking lot to the rear of the restaurant as well as street parking. The restaurant is very small so you will most likely need to take it to-go or eat in your car. I found an open table and waited about 5 minutes for my order around 2pm on a Friday. The only downside is there is a 50¢ fee for using debit/credit cards and there was a man who came in through the back entrance asking us if we wanted to buy rosaries from him… I’d like to enjoy my lunch without solicitors.

This place is the epitome of a «whole in the wall» restaurant. It’s tiny and hidden in a Pomona. I’ve lived less than a mile away for over 3 years and finally noticed it. Not much seating inside so you might want to take it to go. The food was really good. I had a few tacos to try them: asada, pollo, birria, carnitas. My favorite was the asada. Personally, I like my meat a little charred plus their salsa Rojo. … yum! I’m definitely coming back.
