The food was good and well portioned, especially for the price. Clean environment and a cool beach view. My only complaint was the waitress. From beginning to end she was very distracted and not interested. Any time I would ask a question she would have an attitude or short response. She ended up screwing up on our bill as well. Drinks aren’t don’t have much of a kick, but taste good. I wouldn’t return again, but I would tell a friend to try it once.

Steamed clams were over cooked, chewy and small. Husbands ribs were fatty and chicken was nothing special. Clams casino, too little clams. topping was good. OTOH, the service was attentive and very good

The only thing that we liked was the bucket of clams. The salads & soup were not good at all and the tables are so close together it was hard to walk through the restaurant. The waitress was very nice and attentive.

My wife and I were down at Point Pleasant for a few days and decided to try Jale’s on Monday night which happened to be Labor Day. It was a nightmare 1) Service — Horrable 2) Knowlege of menu — Horrable 3) Never came back for a second drink order 4) Food very salty, tasted frozen out of a box — my wife and I did not even finish. How do you call yoursel a crab house with bad tasting crab cakes 5) Took 15 min to get check, once I got the check the server disappeared I had to give the check to the hostess. Server busy eating and texting. Worst experience!

So far, all the restaurants here in Ocean County NJ that have high ratings seem to taste awful to me, and then this restaurant that actually tastes good to me has such low rating. May be New Jersey just has the complete opposite taste and standard for food from California. I ordered a steamed pot with tasty clams, mussels(after eating a lot of sand filled or fishy clams in other restaurants in Toms River, I had tasty clams and mussels that had no sand in this restaurant), blue crabs, snow crab legs, crisp, sweet tasty corn on the cob and potatoes. The pot came with two pieces of delicious corn bread. It was $ 26. I don’t think it’s that expensive for a steamed pot of high quality and tasty seafood. The restaurant has very comfortable seating with fantastic ocean view of the beach and ocean. I really don’t understand NJ, restaurants like this have low rating while crappy restaurants that serve a big plate of foul and low quality meat are given the 5 stars rave. I think from now on, I just have to go the opposite of Unilocal ratings whenever I am in Ocean County New Jersey. I also love Point Pleasant as a beach town and the beach and boardwalk here. I had a great walk and a fantastic day at Point Pleasant Beach boardwalk, I totally love Point Pleasant.

Had the crab cake sandwiches for lunch. Decent. Pricy drinks, decent beer selections draft. Calamari was eh. Not a lot of options over pizza and dogs on the boardwalk. I’d try it again. Only 1 bathroom which was odd.

Three stars because the food was actually very tasty. Well my second order of food. Ordered fish and chips the first go around and was handed, no the waitress dropped a pot of fish and chips in front of me. And by fish and chips I mean, really greasy fish and cold fries. Sent that back and ordered the crab cakes. Good save here bc they were good. Fiancé got the lobster Mac and was awesome. Drinks were pricey. Prob won’t come back

The rating on this place should be a lot higher. I have been twice and haven’t had a bad experience. Everyone in my party enjoyed their meals on both occasions. Jake’s is a good mid scale dining option. You can still have a nice meal and be dressed casual coming off the beach. The seafood has always been prepared well. I am a fan of the soft shell crab sandwiches and they have always been prepare to my liking. The crab cakes are also very good. They have a good balance of crab meat and are not all breadcrumbs. I would recommend this place for families. It’s casual and very affordable.

No waiting to be seated. Friendly and quick service. Nice atmosphere. I ordered the ahi tuna appetizer & my brother had the Cajun chicken sandwich… both delicious. Will definitely go back.

So — this place dosen’t have the best reviews — but aye — sometimes you just have to try it for yourself. We ordered quite the plethora of food — all different types of things we ordered. 3 kids meals, 2 salads and calamari. Kids Meals — Wow — the size was great. Great for big kids! 2 of my kids had the hot dog with french fries and the 3rd had mac and cheese. This wasn’t Kraft thank goodness(i hate when i pay $ 7 for Kraft — drives me nuts). I ordered a house salad and calamari to share. Specifically i ordered the buffalo calamari which was perfectly tempura breaded and deep fried to perfection. It was drizzled with buffalo sauce and sprinkles with blue cheese. It was honestly awesome. My dining guest had a Cesar salad topped with crab. That was great as well! Service was wonderful and i have to say — their bathroom was the cleanest i have ever seen at the beach.

Horrible in ever sense of the word. Poor service, disgusting food and high prices. I spent the day on the boardwalk with my niece. After a long time by hot day, we wanted something more than your typical Boardwalk fare. We wanted to sit relax and get something to eat. This place looks nice and clean so we decided to try it. I ordered the«fall of the bone» ribs while she had the fish and chips. We waited about 10 – 15 mins before a waitress came to take out drink order. There were 4 or 5 waitresses working but they were all wrapping silver wear. After the drinks were ordered(2sodas) that took another 5 mins to arrive. We ordered the food. Our waitress, daneliella the places the order and returned to the table to inform my niece that the fish & chips came with potatoes(French fries, sweet potatoes Fries, mashed, baked etc). If I’m not wrong fish & chips is pretty much a standard dish and I don’t recall them being with mashed or baked potato. The food arrived and it was horrible. Ribs were covered in cheep BBQ sauce and dried out. The fish were frozen fish nuggets and tastes terrible. $ 61.00 plus tip later we had a hot dog on the boardwalk. Don’t go here, save yourself a few bucks and heartburn.

Don’t waste your time. Joe’s Crab Shack is 10,000 times better than this place. For a boardwalk restaurant and the prices, this place is just terrible. My boyfriend payed $ 40 for crabs and barely was able to eat any because there was absolutely NO meat in them. I ordered beans instead of the Yukon potatoes and they looked and tasted like vomit. Seriously?! Lower your prices or make the food better. Never coming back.

Well, I was disappointed. I have to agree with the other reviews. First, I ordered a salad which by the way does not come with your meal. So I ordered a wedge salad, which I don’t recommend… The wedge salad was to me a lot of lettuce with hardly any dressing. The wedge salad was very dry for $ 11. Then on top of that I just started eating my salad and they brought out my dinner. So, you have to eat your appetizer or your salad or your soup very fast because they’re going to bring out your dinner soon afterwards. And on top of that there were only four tables in the restaurant, so it’s not like they were trying to get us out the door because the restaurant was full. For dinner I ordered the lobster mac and cheese. It was ok it was more a lot of macaroni and a lot of seems to me American cheese. It did have a lot of lobster meat in it. Will I go back to this restaurant, if the restaurant was a lot cheaper inè prices I would say yes but because I pay $ 24 for my mac and cheese I’m going to say no I’m not returning. My husband had the crab cake sandwich, in my opinion it was more breading than actual crab. The crab cake sandwich was not that good. If you look at all my other reviews you will see that I am not that picky of a reviewer. But this particular restaurant I was not that impressed.

Overpriced — Took my parents here for fresh seafood. Crab bisque was served cool and asked to have it reheated. Had the softshell crab sandwich it was bland. Best meal there is the fish and chips. $ 18 What’s up with the $ 99 crab legs for two?

Awful food, and very expensive. The service was sub par and if this restaurant wants to stay in business they should consider doing better in every aspect but for the beer selection.

I wasn’t expecting a whole lot out of a restaurant on the P.P. boardwalk and this place exceeded my expectations of how bad it could be. i ordered the«wild clams» for an appetizer. The only thing wild about them was that they were microscopic and tasteless. I ordered the Soft Shell Crab with butter on the side and of course it was drowned in butter when it came to the table. It came with bland store bought pasta and was borderline disgusting. I left grossed out and still hungry after paying through the roof. Just don’t.

I have eaten at this restaurant a few times, so I know the food is okay here. This review is for my most recent visit last week. First, let me address the bathroom situation. You guys really need to invest in another one. Seriously. You know that Point Pleasant boardwalk basically only has one public restroom facility for the entire beach, so of course, there will be a beeline for the bathroom in this restaurant. I don’t think, a a guest of your restaurant, I should have to stand in line for 20 minutes waiting to use your ladies room that accommodates only one woman at a time. On top of that, it was dirty and had no tissue. You guys can do better. Secondly, I was not a fan of your softshell crab sandwich. It was overcooked, and didn’t taste fresh at all. I have had the crab cakes here, so I should have gone with that as I normally would. Third, what’s with the high prices? I just don’t understand why you charge so much for seafood when we are right at the beach. That is all(climbs down from soapbox).

We took a chance on Jake’s Crab House today after prowling for a parking spot for a half hour around the streets just astride Jenkinson’s boardwalk attractions. Their entire menu is attractive – there’s something there for everybody as long as you’re willing to pay through the teeth. With that, please allow me to share some of my personal observations about the meal today. The waitresses seem clueless… Our waitress forgot who at our table ordered chowder. The chowder was slightly bland and it seemed like it was something the chef just threw together in a rush; potatoes and celery were in enormous chunks that has to be cut smaller with a knife and the broth was mostly chicken stock. Cornbread came to our table after we were done with chowder – It was excellent. Moist. Warm orange marmalade with cornbread was perfect. Sweet and flavorful. This was perhaps the best part of the meal. Kitchen and serving staff have no coordination whatsoever. I watched our food cool-off on the countertop for several minutes. Server has no help. It took 3 – 4 trips to finish serving our table of 7 diners. Lobster Mac ‘n cheese $ 24: oily and drowning in garlic; it should’ve been called lobster scampi with campanelle, it was definitely not Mac ‘n cheese! The hero here is supposed to be the seafood, not garlic. What a shame. Wisconsin Burger came out raw. How do you mess up a Burger at a beach-front restaurant? Dreadful. Our waitress was absolutely clueless. She was overwhelmed with tables, and she probably should’ve asked for help from a manager. It’s summertime in point pleasant… it’s always like this. She should step it up or get out of the way. Just my two cents.
