On Sunday, August 24th2014 around 11:30 — 11:45am I walked into the Point Pleasant, NJ Deep Blue Boutique. This boutique is a distributor of O’Neill merchandise. I walked in with the intention of buying something, but walked out disgusted. My boyfriend and I were walking up to the cash register to ask the cashier if there were a different size of flip flops in the back. Before we got to the register, the cashier made eye contact with me and yelled«Can I ask you a question?» I walked closer and said«Sure, no problem.» The cashier had a dress in his hand and a customer in front of him. He held up a dress and asked«Would you buy this?» I said«No.» I said«no» because I did not like the dress. I went to realize that the customer in front of him was trying to return the dress. He would not let her return it because the tag was bent. The dress was fine, but the tag was just a little bent. He was screaming at the lady and embarrassing her in front of other customers to the point of tears. She was crying, so I went up to defend her and she told me that she didn’t even want her money back, just a merchandise credit. The cashier said that the lady was stupid for trying to return the dress and that there is no way he would take the dress back and give her merchandise credit. The lady pointed to the receipt and said«the tag is on the dress, and that is the policy, I am not even asking for my money back, just a credit.» She explained nicely that she spent fifty dollars on the dress and had no use for it(it didn’t fit, or something). The cashier proceeded to be ignorant and yell at her in front of other customers and said that it would be a disgrace to the boutique and O’Neill if they put the dress out with a bent tag. Words can not explain the situation well. But I have worked in customer service for years, and am in upper level management and I would never have that guy working my front counter. He should have explained to the customer that he was doing her a favor and gave her a credit instead of yelling at her, embarrassing her in front of other customers and making her cry. My boyfriend and I were going to buy three pairs of flip flops that were each $ 50, but we walked out with nothing just because of how rude the cashier was. The situation really got to me, so I walked back in the store about five minutes later to ask for the associates name. He refused to give it to me, instead he yelled and said«I’m not dealing with customers like you.» I did, however, get his photograph. This is the first letter I have ever written about a bad customer service experience and I’m not even the customer. This was such a horrible first impression of Deep Blue Boutique and certainly does not represent the O’Neill brand well, either. I am simply copying and pasting the letter that I sent to Deep Blue and O’Neill so others can read it as well.

Decent selection of Bathing Suits at Reasonable Prices! They don’t just have string bikinis, and such; they have more conservative cuts, tankinis, and skirt-bottoms. Many, Many flip flops, and some accessories, too.

My friends love DEEPBLUE. They sell good quality merchandise, which is hard to find on a board walk. The store always looks beautiful. Return policies are return polices and we all have to deal with it. The staff is very kind and helpful. I understand their return policies have to be a certain way since they are a seasonal business. Why would you have your boyfriend buy you clothes? That was your first mistake. Nevertheless, just because you probably did not get your way, there is no reason to slander a store and staff that are great. Their customer service is excellent. To anyone who reads this, this person apparently just needed to vent. I love the store and they always have new nice things. For example, last time I was there, I saw they were carrying Nixon watches. GOODLUCK this summer, DEEPBLUE.

Cute beach store across from Jenkinson’s nightclub. If you’re looking for shirts like«I heart Pt. Pleasant» this would not be the place. Instead, it’s filled with beachwear ala Quiksilver and Roxy. This also means of course that the cheapest pair of flip-flops is about $ 30 and is Sanuk.

Great little place on Pt Pleasant Boardwalk to pick up a hoodie, flip flops or a fun accessory. We just bought new Sanuks from here. They always have a good selection of beach wear and the employees aren’t pushy. Every time I’m in Pt Pleasant I’m compelled to stop in and check out the new merchandise.
