My husband loves corned beef hash so when we passed by this restaurant last time I had to bookmark it. We came for lunch on a Saturday around 1ish. It was pretty empty which worked out for us. I’m sure there is a wait for breakfast. I ordered the corned beef hash omelette and he ordered the corned beef hash with sunny side up eggs. The corned beef hash omelette was ok, I wanted an omelette and corned beef hash so thought it was a good idea to try this but I think next time I would get them separately. It’s just not the same in an omelette. The corned beef hash was good esp with the runny eggs. Diner is a bit dated, it would be nice to have some updated booths and maybe clean the walls a bit. Felt a little dirty, but who cares? I’m here for the corned beef right?! Haha Seat yourself, don’t pick a booth by the door because that draft can get a bit chilly! Waitress was very nice, they were all probably college students. Note: Since it is an open kitchen, you’ll smell like food after… Plenty of Parking in the lot

YUM! Comfort food at its finest during both of my visits. The Traditional Reuben is a must and the corn beefed hash is the real deal. I typically don’t eat bread pudding but Bode’s is off the charts good. Relaxed atmosphere, fun and hardworking staff! It’s an historical monument so they can’t do much to change the place but the atmosphere is half of the experience.

One of my favorite corned beef sandwich lunch and corned beef hash breakfast joints. Diner style counter seating and booths, tables. The kitchen is small and on weekends you can wait 45 minutes for your food but it’s worth it.

I went there for the first time on a friends’ recommendation. The corn beef was excellent, I had no problem with that itself but, it was pricey for the size sandwich that they served. I paid $ 9+ for a corn beef with coleslaw on it but the sandwich wasn’t very big, in fact, I could’ve eaten two of them. I don’t think they should charge more than maybe seven dollars for that sandwich. But overall, I was delicious.

The food is okay. It’s a little on the greasy side and way overpriced. On the plus side, the service is good and it’s a charming diner style place.

It is a solid 4 stars I have been told there are new owners but do not notice a difference in quality of food and definitely nothing inside has changed lol but that’s not a negative it reminds me of a nice neighborhood dive feel the exterior is old school and the chow inside is a step above your typical Coney Island fare with good hash and extremely reasonable prices considering you’re walking distance from downtown Plymouth only thing I would say if there’s a line or wait just come back on an off day there are very few places that you should wait more than 5 minutes to sit down and eat when there are new experiences waiting out there.

Great corned beef! Juicy and not fatty. Cooked perfectly… But not much else. Old and very outdated interior, but this is part of its charm. I took a group of Japanese business men here, and they loved it! I wouldn’t go here every week, but a few times a year is worth it.

This is a nice hole in the wall kind of place. I would call it a diner, not the most impressive décor but they believe in good service and great tasting food. They have a large selection from breakfast to dinner dishes. I tried al’s caboose corned beef sandwich. It was big, with lot’s of corned beef! It was nice and soft, I just wished it had more flavor. Next time I will need to ask if they have different seasonings for the different corned beef sandwiches or not. The service was great, we never had to ask for a refill. The coffee was really good as well.

Didn’t know what to expect due to mixed reviews but took a chance this morning. Great choice. Ordered the Eggs Benedict. By far in the top five I’ve ever had. Price points are high then again, it’s downtown plymouth. Recommend if you want a grade A meal.

Lent is coming up and as much as I love the Corned Beef, I go here for the Friday Fish and Chips. It’s a Plymouth secret ;) Cool atmosphere, nice employee, and a good set of customers always in a good mood keep me coming back. Seriously…the Fish and Chips tho. Woooooo!!!

Good corned beef, loved the Reuben. Chicken fingers are embarrassing take off the menu. They charge 10% for carry out. Probably won’t be back

Nice service, great atmosphere. Very old-time diner. Had high hopes… Got the reuben, which came without any dressing as far as I could tell. VERY dry. Like, left over corned beef from breakfast, sitting on the counter and reheated 8 hours later kind of dry. The boy enjoyed the chicken pot pie, but for 9 bucks the portion was very small.

My Bode’s Review. I will throw out the disclaimer that I’ve been a fan of Bode’s for decades. My family has been patrons of this dining establishment since I was a little kid. Ownership was passed from Richard to the current owners a few years ago and from some of the Unilocal reviews, it wasn’t a great transition. I feared the worst for my beloved ‘go to” meal at Bode’s. I got the AUCE(All You Can Eat) entrée and it was just as I remember. The first allotment of chips I got were a «old» but the others were fresh out out of the fryer. The fish was good. 4 smaller pieces was a good start. Batter wasn’t excessive. It could have used a bit of salt or pepper in the batter but overall good. That’s what salt/pepper/malt vinegar is for. Getting the AUCE option is risky if you fill up too quickly on your first round of protein and starch. The waitress brought over the second wave of fish. One medium-large piece and two smaller ones. I can say that the quality of the fish and chips is the same as I remember even if the lighting of the place is a bit bright.

This used to be a 4 to 5 star place due to their killer corned beef and local coolness. Sadly, since it’s been under new ownership the corned beef is not nearly as good. Why anyone who is sane would think it was a good idea to change a recipe they are known for is beyond me. Corned beef is in their name! I’m done coming here, unfortunately, unless I hear they came to their senses!

I’ve eaten here for breakfast a few times, and while the has is okay, it is too typical for me. I am a bigger fan of an omelet filled with corned beef and Swiss cheese or some of their other breakfast options. I need to go back to check out their corned beef lunch and dinner options. The last time we went the place was under new ownership. We didn’t find anything better or worse. Service at this place is pretty good, and the unlimited coffee doesn’t hurt.

This place has been around a while, and after seeing the largely positive reviews, my husband and I stopped by for lunch. The waitress was very nice and we didn’t have to wait long for our food. That being said, we were both a bit disappointed. Their fried pickles were good — not too heavy on the breading, and homemade buttermilk dressing was pretty good too. I’m a Reuben fan, and while the corned beef was tasty and a good sized portion, the sandwich was a bit dry and missing sauerkraut and dressing. There was a side of slaw that I used, but still, it was a Reuben I was craving. My husband got a club sandwich, which seemed a bit light on the meat and was also on the dry side as mine was. For the prices and what we got, I’m not sure we’ll go back.

Stopped in at Bodes on a leisurely Saturday late morning. Based on input from people at work, I had high hopes for a grand experience. I ordered a California Reuben(turkey & coleslaw) & a side of corned beef hash. The food came out quickly enough, and I was surprised at the extremely small portions based on the prices. The Reuben was very tasty, the turkey had a nice roasted flavor & was thick sliced on a toasted rye. A very good sandwich actually, too bad it was so small. I’m talking 3rd grade lunch size. The hash was good & tasty, with a little crispiness from the flattop. You could tell it was home made, but not overpowered with green peppers like some get. VERY light on the potato in the hash. Again, way too small a side for the price. I’d go back for the food, but only if I wasn’t all that hungry & someone else was paying. Otherwise, I can find food that’s just as good for a better value.

So, this review is sort of two-fold and is pretty hard for me to decide on a rating. For one, the corned beef hash and eggs is all I ever get. It’s delicious. It’s some of the best diner food around. Yes, diner food. You’re not going to get gourmet experiences here. But all the food is good, hot, spot-on, and homey. The coffee is hot and good, my eggs are always cooked perfect, and I’m always greeted warmly. Onto why I’m giving this a low score: my husband and I went here really early one morning for breakfast. Our food was spectacular, and our server was great. However, one of the regulars, an older white gentleman, was reading the paper and talking to another server. The place had JUST opened, so it was slow, and I understand talking to the regulars. However, I could hear them and they were saying VERY racist remarks about some people in the news. It was pretty offensive to me and it’s not the sort of stuff you should be saying out loud in a restaurant where ANYONE else can hear you. I didn’t want to create a stir, so we paid and left. I tried calling them multiple times over the course of the next TWOWEEKS to talk to the owner or manager and tell them about this event. The servers who answered were rude and horribly evasive. Even when I identified myself as a customer and not a salesman, I just got a lot of «he’s busy» or a flat out brush off of my comments. I didn’t want to tell the story as a message to anyone who answered the phone(to avoid it being«misplaced» or something). I wanted to talk to the owner or a manager. After two weeks of being ignored(I left my number for him to call me back) and chased off by the phone answerers, I gave up. I’m not sure how much I’ll go back to Bode’s. I DO love their corned beef hash and eggs. But the servers who feel comfortable enough to say very racist remarks for anyone to hear, along with the lack of care in fielding a customer’s call, just makes me wary about giving them my money anymore. Besides, I’m not often in Plymouth much and there are closer, just-as delicious diners where I can get breakfast.

I’ve always wanted to try this place, and stopped one morning on impulse after getting my semi-annual dental visit over with. The place is small and dive-ish, with assorted coffee cups hanging from the wall. My kind of place! The coffee was fresh and hot. I ordered(what else?) the corned beef hash with over-easy eggs and rye toast. Now, I’m not a fan of finely-ground hash. The texture reminds me of cat food, and who the hell wants to eat cat food for breakfast? Rather, I’m a fan of chunky hash. This was, in fact, finely ground hash, but obviously homemade and far tastier than that crap in a can. The service was good and the atmosphere was relaxed and homey, with newspapers available for the reading. My bill was about $ 6. I’ll definately be back. On top of needing to explore more of the corned beef options, I’d like to check out the fish and chips, which the waitress tells me is quite good.

Cheap, cheap, cheap… says the little chicadee… corned beef hash. Breakfast here is very inexpensive but I went here for lunch. This has always been the best place to get corned beef/hash. Lunch at it’s best in Plymouth: Al’s Caboose Corned Beef With Swiss Cheese, Lettuce, Tomato, and Slaw — Great, sloppy, thick and tasty.4 Stars Drink — Soda… No rating Service — pretty fast, lunch is a very time, reasonable speed and accuracy…3.5 Stars Gotta come here for breakfast soon… must remember…
