I called ahead and asked about the buffet, and they told me it was open from 1 – 8 pm. When I arrived I waited for a few moments before I was even greeted, then told to sit down, I say for several minutes, before asking if I could get a drink and get some food, explaining that I had to be somewhere shortly after, and finally she took my drink order, got up to get some food, low and behold all the food heater slots where empty, when I asked her she said«oh, we make it fresh, it will be 15 minutes before food is served. I expressed my frustration and explained to her that she should have told me that before I sat down or when I had called. She apologized, but I am still upset about the lack of costumer service.

It is in great location, reasonably priced, small variety buffet, nice servers, good, but not great.

Stopped on Monday when traveling thru the area shortly before noon. I’d looked at reviews beforehand to plan where to eat, plus viewed the only menu I could find on-line(which proved to be very outdated). Lunch buffet was only about $ 1 more than lunch specials(drink extra), so we opted for the buffet. Two vats of soup & two stations, one for a few pieces of sushi & some cold fruit & basic salads & deserts(none of which we tried), & the other for 15 «hot» dishes, most nearly empty(there were less than a dozen people there when we came, a few more when we left). All«hot» entries were lukewarm at best(when most dishes contain chicken, this is a concern for bacterial growth); when we told our server, her excuse was that they leave the air conditioning on overnight, so it takes awhile for the water bath to warm up. Come on — they were open nearly an hour — wouldn’t the first thing to do is turn on the warmer when the person comes in to prep a lunch buffet ?? Plus the dishes were very bland or tasteless, most overcooked, & the sauces were very watery. However, as the pans were(very slowly) restocked, the food was hot coming out of the kitchen. Service was attentive(then again they were not busy). Restrooms were somewhat clean/not filthy(should’ve been much better so close to opening). Outside of building not maintained at all(should’ve been a warning sign). It is very rare for us to not go back for seconds at a Chinese buffet!

We ordered sizzling rice soup with chicken, «vegetable deluxe» and moo shu chicken. The vegetables were cooked just right, with a light, flavorful sauce. The pancakes were fluffy and soft, the moo shu itself very tasty. The portions were satisfying and our server was extremely gracious, even with a number of picky special cooking requests we made. A good experience, one we expect to repeat soon.

I stopped in for lunch on a Tuesday. I chose not to eat off the buffet but opted for a shrimp stir fry. The shrimp was over cooked and the sauce was not very pleasant tasting. When I asked about the menu choice when ordering, I felt it would be a true stir fry. I did not see Japanese food here. The luncheon buffet and menu seem to be Chinese. IThis comment excludes the Sushi. The waitress was friendly enough but brought the wrong drink to the table. After the food arrived I had to find her to get my check. Several locals were in eating from the buffet. They seemed happy enough. I won’t be coming back though as I did not find the experience pleasurable.

Very disappointing. Cold clumpy rice. Lack luster sauces. Tough, over cooked meats. Very little heat for spicy dishes. We won’t come back again.

I should have read the reviews first; we went there on Friday, May 1st for dinner. The waitress suggested the buffet, so we took it(did not see any signs that indicated the price was $ 17.49 each – not including drinks). As Patrick A. mentioned, the selection is minimal(at best), no dessert items, sushi«ok». Not too many entrees, lots of small appetizers, crab legs and shrimp. We even had to ask for our silverware. So, for $ 36.00 I’m thinking we should have eaten elsewhere. At first I thought they had moved because there’s a Mexican flag on the back of the building. This is not the Tempura House that used to be on Post Road. I suggest eating elsewhere.

Love the rice noodles n kung pao chicken. Not a big fan of their buffet but regular menu items are better than the rest in the community.

I love their seafood buffet on Friday nights. The sweet and sour shrimp and crab legs are great. I would give them 5 stars except that their floors always seem sticky. I’m not talking sticky spots, but sticky everywhere. Maybe it’s the floor cleaner they use or maybe since it’s tile flooring they don’t want you to slip. Whatever it is, it’s annoying. Great staff, great service though.

I give it one star but it should get –2 stars this place is a dump it’s a dive don’t waste your time don’t waste your money! We ate at their buffet if you could call it a buffet because there wasn’t much to select from and their soups were nothing but broth honestly people this place should be condemned! I hope I don’t get food poisoning!

Unfortunately the quality of the food here has declined dramatically in the last year. We will not be ordering anymore, but we will really miss seeing Henry!

Tempura House has a identity crisis. Is it a Chinese OR a Japanese restaurant? Is it both? Is it even Asian food? We entered with no one manning the front counter. The waiters walked passed us carrying food or menus but no one greeted us. 5 minutes in, we were ready to leave but someone from the kitchen came and asked what he could for get us. He asked if we wanted a Japanese or Chinese menu. I asked for both. The Japanese menu is basically a sushi menu. Food is mediocre. The service was slow even if the place was empty. They have a buffet but yeah, I probably will not return to know how it is.

Mild flavors. American Chinese. Green peas in my schezwan? Really? Mediocre service. Too many menu items. Stick with Japanese items on this menu and you’ll probably be satisfied, tho. This is one of three Asian restaurants in the immediate area. I’d rank it third.

Couldn’t even give one star here. We came to this place under impression it was Chinese /Japanese restaurant. In reality it is a Chinese Buffet with some ‘sushi’. But the reason for our disappointment was not the food but the way we were greeted. Nobody paid attention to us when we walked in. The hostess was busy with something at the counter and didn’t even look at us. It felt like we were invisible. The smell was terrible. It felt like we were in the kitchen. We didn’t have to think twice — we left. End of story. Don’t think we’ll be coming any time soon.

I thought I was coming to a Japanese restaurant for sushi and was kinda caught offguard when offered a choice of Chinese and/or Japanese menu coming in?! Sushi was OK but this restaurant is having an identity crisis. My fortune cookie should have read«Paying a butcher to do a surgeon’s job isn’t always the best option»

Gotta try this one of a kind tempura place. Get an assortment of fried veggies and shrimp. Better than french fries at mcdonalds!

Once every few weeks we call in a take out order. We’ve never been disappointed. Great food at a moderate price.
