I’ve walked past the rising loafer many times on the weekend and finally decided to go because it seemed like a good place to go to for breakfast. Well I was wrong. I have never been so disgusted with my breakfast. I ordered the California omelette. It was oily and filled with old guacamole! It was brown!!! On top of that my potatoes were not edible they tasted very earthy. Oh and my toast was cold. Absolutely terrible and I have no idea why this place is still in business

This place has really great food however the service is horrible. Coming from working at yogurt place I’m always smiling but these workers don’t even smile. They were not even friendly horrible customer service. The food is 4 out of 5! Love the food just customer service is bad.

I come here every Saturday after the Farmers Market and i’d had a great experience each time! The banana bread is really good and the staff is very friendly! :)

Rising Loafer is a nice local place for breakfast and lunch. I went for a second or third time today, a Thursday afternoon. Ordered a «Megan’s Reuben» with Sun Chips and their homemade potato salad. They were out of the usual NY rye but I asked for garlic basil bread. It’s all good, man. The bread came toasted just right and the Sun Chips are healthier than most other sides. Rising Loafer’s potato salad is homemade and tastes fan flipping tastic! Drier than some others, but no problem. Three quarters the way through lunch I noticed it wasn’t a pastrami reuben. Hmm. This is turkey, Mr. Absent Minded! Maybe I missed that on the menu? Ah well. Still a nice sandwich. I had iced tea. Bueno there too. Staff and service are great. Locked restroom is outside the back, very clean. Good wifi? Check. Outlets for recharging the phone? Check. $ 15 plus tip out the door. Worth it. Like usual, I appreciate that this is a locally-owned business.

What a flavor explosion in my mouth. I ordered the veggie egg Benedict. Atmosphere and staff were very pleasant. I definitely want to go back sometime.

Visited for lunch about 2 weeks ago. It wasn’t crowded and I was served quickly. The place isn’t very large, but at least it was clean. The lady serving me was polite, but not friendly. I wonder if she’s the person everyone is talking about. I got a half sandwich and a bowl of soup. The sandwich has house-made bread. It’s a little bland and crumbly, but they get points for making it themselves. The chicken salad filling was tasty and fresh. My veggie soup was hot and also tasted homemade. It’s not stuff that I would crave, but I wouldn’t mind eating there again. Coffee was fine… nothing special. It was kinda expensive too. Will probably try other places before returning here, though.

Disappointing. Went for brunch last weekend, expecting this location to be as good as Danville(now closed). Bread basket choices were dry and tasteless. I had the Loafers garden burger with avocado, sprouts, lettuce and tomato. It looked good but it was also tasteless and the bread crumbled apart. My husband had sunny side up eggs, sausage, potatoes and banana bread and he left much of it on the plate. He said it was bland and lacking flavor. The staff was polite and attentive, but the food needs help. We eat out frequently, and with so many other choices in the area, we won’t be going back here.

0STARSALLTHEWAY!!! You couldn’t pay me to return here. Rude to the missus, and I really thought at one point, I was going to smack our guy waiter. I’ve tried the one that was in Danville, and gave this one several chances, but they are horrible. I won’t even waste more air time on this crappy excuse for a business. Just so you know, I work and lived in Pleasanton, grew up in Danville, so I do know my way around the restaurants, in that area.

Service = 1 star. Mostly abrasive or inattentive. They also do not clean by wiping down each table after folks have left. The tables are dirty and I saw for myself a clearing of a grimy table involved a swipe of the leftover jelly with an old placemat, and that was it. Also, there are a ton of very young bus boys in this place. When we first walked in, we were not greeted for at least a minute or so, still not sure who is in charge of that. Ambiance = 3 stars. Not bad, I guess. Food = 3 stars, also not bad, but not great. Potatoes were overseasoned(picking thyme out of my teeth), otherwise the breakfast was what you’d expect.

First, the iced spiced orange ice tea is the best. I’ll stop in town just to grab a drink to go. Food here is good and fresh. My wife always gets a salad and loves it. I’ll get a different sandwich every time and they are always good. Today I got the Diablo grilled chicken sandwich and it was delicious. Soups are also always tasty. Today was vegetable soup and was the bomb.

$ 4 for a glass of orange juice. I’m serious. plus 75 cents more for less than a tablespoon of cheese on my scrambled eggs. it seems like the owner doesn’t let her employees take orders. it’s very weird. if you’ve seen the episode of «kitchen nightmares» where they visit Amy’s Baking Company, you’ll understand the picture I’m trying to paint. I like to support the downtown area but it seems like I’m sticking to Vic’s. will not come again.

I purchased a cream cheese brownie on a Saturday morning(around 11am). Awful. Tasted like they had baked it and froze it and then defrosted it. It wasn’t warm — it’s sold wrapped in plastic wrap. It was such a disappointment and a waste of money. I’ve had better at a convenience store.

Well, I ate my breakfast but I was pretty hungry when I went in. Five stars for service and my waitress, she was very good. Three stars for the food. The potatoes had a LOT of seasoning that was just overwhelming. The mushrooms were supposedly fresh but came out looking rather brown. The hollandaise was okay, a little bland and full of pepper. There was a piece of sweet, dessert bread on the plate that was mediocre too. I really love breakfast but this was just lacking. :/

Have not been here in years One other table was occupied when we went in. Staff was nice and friendly. The floor was filthy. Food papers trash all over. We each ordered a cold sandwich. It probably took 20 minutes to get the sandwiches. The food was ok. Waitress never came back to ask if food was OK or not. Don’t think we will go back for a long time or ever again.

Came here for lunch for the first time in about 10 years! I ordered the café burger, and I was surprised that it came on regular bread instead of a burger bun. I then remembered that their bread is what they’re famous for, so I was excited to try it! Unfortunately, the bread was nowhere near as tasty as I remembered it to be, and had been made soggy by the burger fillings. I ended up just eating the inside of burger and leaving the bread! The accompanying fruit salad was delicious, made with a very fresh, good assortment of fruit. Just enough of a little dessert to follow my burger! The wait staff were very friendly and attentive, and never let our water glasses get empty. I don’t think I’ll be coming back here again in a hurry though…

Went here for the first time today following our farmers market visit as every time we walk by this place it’s at full capacity. Their food is good, we had ordered an omelet & one of their special sammies which were both good however their service was very slow and they weren’t even busy. Even if they were busy they were staffed with enough to people to cover all the customers.

Came in for brunch and was somehow possessed by the great weather to go for the French Toast. I usually steer away from french toast because I’ve learned that, in most cases, the idea of french toast is typically more appealing than the actual product you get. Boy, did this French Toast follow that rule. To put it simply, I got floppy bread. With sour raspberry jam on the side. It didn’t even taste like french toast. There was no hint of flavor from the batter and no crunch from its supposed time in the pan. Plus, the waitress wasn’t nice when I was ordering and started asking questions about the menu. She seemed annoyed and stared at me a long time before answering. This interaction made me disinclined to mention the floppiness of my «french toast» when I received it. I ate the bread and vowed never to order french toast on a whim again. Bad times.

Plain simple truth — the lady everyone is talking about — YES, SHE’S RUDE, IMPATIENT, LOUD, OBNOXIOUS, ANDOBVIOUSLYFAVORS, however if you’re a visitor then YOUROPINIONDOESN’T MATTERBECAUSETHISLADYISTHEOWNERANDWILLSTAYINBUSINESS. This is a thriving little café in Downtown Pleasanton and the owner has been here for quite some time, so as long as she has the whole town coming here — despite her horrible attitude she will continue to thrive. #customerloyalty — Yes, she does favor, I’ve been here twice with my family and during those two experiences, even though we were first these random people that come in 20 mins after us and other people are seated first. Unless you are on her LIST, she will most likely never serve you. And pray that she doesn’t if she does approach your table because she will treat you with the utmost disrespect. My family didn’t experience this but I was watching as another family clearly didn’t deserve to be treated in such a way. There food is ehhh good. I’ve tasted better but it is pretty reasonably priced. This place will always be packed. The management is horrible, everyone is kind of running around like chickens. Our drinks came out 10 mins later even though we asked for all waters. Our food came out slow but it was good, I did enjoy it. If Pleasanton opened up another café exactly like this with better management, customer service, and a BETTEROWNER… they would thrive over this place in time. So something to think about. Their sweets, muffins, cookies… those I actually enjoy a lot. Make sure you get one before you leave and enjoy a walk around the little town Pleasanton. This town isn’t for me — but it’s good for the majority.

A simple menu with good service in a great location. Breakfast and lunch basics with a bit of flair. My favorite is the Salmon Benedict. Smoked salmon was so good. Very filling. My kids love the Whole Wheat Pancakes and I enjoyed what they couldn’t finish. The smoked bacon is also great! The espresso and tea drinks are better than Starbucks. Sit on the outside patio if weather permits. It can get noisy inside. It’s fun to people watch on the patio.

Although this restaurant is rated only at 3 – 4 stars, I gave it 5. The service was great and the staff was very accommodating. Not to mention, they customized a Lox Scramble to accommodate my needs as well they serve a slice of their amazing Banana Bread with their dishes. A different addition aside from the normal toast offered with typical breakfast and brunch dishes. Also, the owner was super sweet and also known for the amazing breads.
