JC Penney Optical

So, I’m unsure of what happened to my earlier Unilocal posts on this place… very strange, indeed!
That said, let me state that JC Penney Optical is my first choice when dealing with vision health and vision wear.
Tina, who manages the store, is first rate. And Dr. Cynthia, the optometrist is professional, convivial, knowledgeable, and approachable.
The selection has improved greatly over the years and getting name brands such as Rayban is now as simple as choosing something from the display.
Better still, I walked in yesterday with need to have my glasses repaired (I set them down and not only knocked them over but trampled on them!). I brought them to Tina and asked if I could get them repaired. «Sure!» she said, «No problem.» Ten minutes later the glasses were finished (all this in the midst of a very busy session). Oh, but it gets better!
I asked her «So how much for the repair?» All the while bracing myself for sticker shock, wondering if the cash I had in my wallet would cover the cost or would I have to resort to putting this on plastic. «It’s free!» she says to me.
My mouth hit the floor!
Say all you want about the competitors… frankly, I value customer service and I hit the jackpot with J.C. Penny Optical. What team, what great service!

After having problems and overpaying for our glasses at other places around town, we decided to try the optical services at the JC Penney at the mall in Pleasanton. I’m glad we did it. It was a Saturday almost at closing time, but Dr. Blaylock stayed a little longer to see us. She was very patient and competent. We felt confident and really trusted her expertise. She also listened to us and did a very detailed and thorough examination. Later, Tina, who also had to stay past closing time in order to assist us with our frames, also took the time to get us the best deals possible on our orders. She was very accommodating and helpful. We never felt rushed. Wonderful customer service, like we had never had before. We ended up paying half of what we were used to paying in other places. Highly recommend it.

Brought my dad along this year and he was able to use the 2 for $ 99 deal! He ended up paying more for better frames and lenses, but still far less than what he used to spend on glasses.
Turns out Dr Blaylock is there on Tuesdays and Saturdays, and it isn’t too tough to get an appointment that works.
