Really am astounded at all the positive reviews. This place looked great and smelled great. I enjoyed the atsmosphere even though there were only two other people there. But when i got our food home and saw it, i was very dissapointed. The only staff were a couple of high school kids and they cant cook. The creamed corn was brown and tasted like a cast iron skillet. The burnt ends were just a tough cubed roast that had an acrid smoke flavor. They gave us no sauce. And the portions were definantly not worth the price. I will never eat here again.

Good place to eat. Owner came by the table with samples of side dishes. Burnt ends were very good. Beer selection is a bit limited but food was very good and the service was very good.

Friendly staff and owner. It’s nice to be thanked and talked to each time we visit. Food is always good and their pork burnt ends are great. Hubs always get pork and tonight tried sliced pork. Said he liked it best. The son ordered sweet potato fries and I’ll order them next time. Food is always fresh and hot. Mmm

So glad we have a good BBQ place in PHill. The new owners did a great job updating the old building and creating a better menu. If you are riding through Pleasant Hill, I recommend Bare Bones as a place to have some good lunch.

Bare Bones smoked a ham for me for Thanksgiving. The best ham I have had in years. Their food in the restaurant is just as good an the customer service is impeccable. The new owners have really cleaned the place up compared to when it was TNTBBQ(my wife would not go back before). This will become an anchor establishment in Pleasant Hill for years to come.

First time at Bare Bones tonight and it won’t be our last. The family loved everything. From the onion rings to the burnt ends, we thoroughly enjoyed our meal. The pulled pork is great, and the sauce has a great mix of sweet and spicy. If you’re looking for a great BBQ place, pop by Bare Bones.

New owners great food. Let’s start with the sauce. Original, something you would come back for. Not fourteen choices just a good Mildly sweet sauce. They also have a spicy sauce which was indeed spicy. Have to ask for it. The potato salad is the best I have ever had. EVER. The owner showed me the pit and the additional smoker the have gotten to keep up with demand. They know what they are doing. The ribs were very good and huge. Burnt ends very good but they offer pork and beef. I had never had pork before and I agree they just aren’t as good as beef. The beef were so good they stand alone and I had quite a quandary on whether to use the sauce or not because the sauce was so good I wanted it but the meat was so good plain. Problem solved by ordering onion rings to dip in sauce. Homemade ranch dressing also good. This is just one of those local bare bones joints that you make a regular spot and get to enjoy knowing your neighbors and community. Not a huge menu which I like because what they do they do well. Always new specials to try. To sum up, I would drive 30 miles and pass up many BBQ joints to eat here. And in Kansas City that is saying a lot.

bq sure is not the best it is the only one in pleasant hill, not great if you like ok it make poo$ please don’t say it is the best BQ in town when it is the only one in town. come on P. H news paper get real. did they pay you to put it in the paper? I put my ol man can do a lot better REALLY. if you like your bq with no season meat just hit of hickory, beans looked like the open a can of pork an beans put a little bq sauce in it, slaw ok, had better. the guys in the kitchen looked like bums, long hair shabby, standing there stuffing there faces, no food gloves on. I had the pork, my husband order the brisket it looked like pork tasted like pork we told our waitress she said it was beef we ask her which one was the pork which was the beef she could not tell us, really we will never go back again,

Definitely an improvement over TNTBBQ! I love the new sauce, and the place is finally clean inside. The new owner seems eager to please and I’m glad this restaurant sold to someone who cares!
