Souper Salad

We have eaten here many times in years past. Too much competition for share of one’s stomach in Collin County now.

We frequent this location because its really quick and easy. You can eat pretty healthy or go really bad if you’re in the mood. Their soup usually pretty good. I cant remember being disappointed in any soup. There are plenty of salad fixings to create a masterpiece. You can’t go wrong with a baked potato and all of the fixings. Tacos, nachos, pizza. Several tasty breads if you’re in to that. AND a dessert bar… brownies, soft serve, hot fudge…
When you don’t want to cook, this is a good choice.

Visited this location after a boot camp workout and unfortunately my memories of how wonderful Souper Salad use to be are just that: memories. I’m not sure if it’s just this location or if the company as a whole needs a revamp. The walls, décor, tables and most important the selection of food offerings all need a complete make-​over. With places like Sweet Tomatoes (review coming soon) on the market, Souper Salad will not survive if they don’t not do something soon.
The salad bar was, meh, at best. The quality of the salad options and toppings had me really considering if I wanted to test the power of the bacteria in my gut to digest this stuff. LOL. It was that bad. Diced ham was the only protein available on the salad bar and it looked like it was crying out for help; but, for an upcharge you can add grilled chicken strips. Meh.
There was a nacho? bar but the cheese looked shady. Everything about this place was shady. Except for the beef vegetable soup. THAT, was pretty darn good. THAT is what saved this from being a one-​star review.
In a nutshell: Don’t do it, just don’t.

Went at 5:30 last night and I should have left when I noticed no one was there. Lots of items were missing on the salad bar. The soups all had a film on top. The bread was hard after having been out too long. It was just a bad experience and I won’t be back.

This place reminds me of a CiCi’s pizza, but for salads. And I don’t eat at CiCi’s. It’s a buffet line to fix your own salad and a few soup selections. There were several huge bottles of dressing, but you have to pick them up — gross. They are oddly shaped. It was just, odd. I wasn’t impressed with the salad bar or soups offered. They were out of French dressing (the one time I actually wanted French dressing…). There was a small hot bar that looked unappetizing.
The little gingerbread and blueberry cakes were tasty.
The server was super friendly. She earned them one star by herself. She kept the table cleared and our sodas filled.
There’s also a small dessert bar. We had ice cream cones. There were lots of people there, so it appears they get good business.
I don’t think I’ll be back. Again, the CiCi’s pizza of salads.

Would give this store no stars.
1. Foul odor when you open the door.
2. Salad buckets not full
3. Hot food buckets were empty or totally dry food
Stuck to the buckets.
4. Pizza undercooked, for god sakes it was thin cruust.
5. Staff could care less.
6 manger in over his head blamed the general manager.
7. This place has been hit or miss for while.
Do not waste your hard earned dollars here
JUST GROSS

I went their with my twins @ 19:00. They had an excellent, fully stocked salad and soup bar. Excellent food matched on by the friendliness of the staff. I would highly recommend this place!

My Family and I visited this location for the first time on Friday the 13^th of March and were impressed by the wide variety of things on the salad bar and that pizza was included with the meal. Upon arrival we were greeted at the register and she explained that it was an all you can eat buffet and she pointed out the ice cream machine in the back were the kids could get a cone or bowl for desert. I’m not a big fan of buffets but this one I will be coming back to, the food was fresh and the staff was friendly even though they were busy .The person that was at the register I found out was the manager and she was not only at the register but also helping the staff make sure everyone was enjoying their meal and that the buffet line was full the whole time we were there.
I found the pricing at $ 7.49 +drinks for adults and 4.79 for my kids a good deal.
I have found a place for the family that is not greasy fried food… I’ll be back.

Worst service ever. The waitress never even said hello but, as we left I watched her walk over to our table to see if I tipped.

The salad bar has a wide variety of salad, pasta, dessert, baked potatoes (regular and sweet), mini nacho bar, pizza and different breads to feast on. The dinner price is reasonable $ 7.25 per person. Even with the staff being short handed they kept the bar and retardant m restaurant clean.

Salad was amazing with good options but the rest of their food was old, hard and had mold on it. They defiantly don’t care what they put out it how old it is. Never going back here:(

Quality of various products is like Russian Roulette.
I go for a easy salad built the way I want it. There are problems as stated by some of the other guests. Service for me has been very good every time.
The hot bar where the chili and the cheese sauce is, was in disgusting shape. The cheese sauce had been sitting for some time and looked very unappealing. The chili was full, but looked watery. I had been hoping to have some nachos with my salad, that didn’t happen… I sometimes like tacos too, the taco meat wasn’t fit to serve to a dog. (See note below)
After I had sat down, SS worker replaced the items with appealing versions and cleaned up the mess from the lunch rush. I just wish it had been done sooner.
I ate my custom salad, and the meatball pasta soup. I enjoyed both very much.
Pros:
Salad lettuce (s) were fresh and crispy!
Salad bar was well stocked!
Soups full and hot with lots for meat and pastas in them!
I like ALL the choices to make the salads from.
Cons:
Unsupervised kids serving themselves (kinda, if that is what you call dripping stuff everywhere) at the pizza and desert bars.
There was no cottage cheese on the salad bar that I could find. Maybe that was a blessing.
I wish the tomatoes were a bit more ripe, but they weren’t bad. (just being picky)
I have to agree with the Unilocaler about the dressing bottles. The idea that all these people have touched those is not a thought I like. Use a napkin and adapt! I am no Germophobe.
Pizza was scant! Don’t remember seeing it at all.
Blueberry muffins had nearly no blueberries in them. Corn bread is generally dry and lacking flavor. Garlic bread was fresh, and hot.

Seriously, get off your fat butt, and serve your kids! The rest of the adults don’t trust their hygiene practices! Oh, and the same goes for the grocery stores! It is NOT O.K. for your kid to handle the produce in the produce section!
Oh, and for the Blonde in front of me, who took all that Fettuccine Alfredo with corn, I want you to know, it is TOTALLY fat free, and that your husband is going to love your new look in a few years!

Absolutely disgusting! I used to love Souper Salad but this just ruined it for me. Good tasted terrible, absolutely everything we tried was horrible. Dirty and worse of all the dessert area had a foul odor, ice cream machine was melted and tables were sticky!

I would never never ever visit this place ever again. The place didn’t look very clean and the décor was waaay past dated. The food was utterly disgusting, even the ice cream. There was also an area for build your own tacos and potatoes YUCK It was very dirty and looked nasty, needless to say I didn’t try it. The salad bar was eh not completely horrible but not good either.

This place is pathetic. The food was terrible and all of the dishes were dirty.

I’ve been here a couple of times and it’s never been that bad. The interior is kind of cramped here and the layout is really obnoxious.
The food all looked pretty fresh. There were no flies and there were no spills. They should get rid of the pizza. It’s nasty and no good. Their low budget breadsticks have always been a favorite of mine. The wheat they use is so highly refined that the moment you bite into it it starts turning to sugar.
It won’t stuff you, but it will fill you up and when you’re done eating you wont’ feel quite as bloated like you just ate a burger combo.

I just moved here from Los Angeles, so I think I’m the right person to talk about crappy food. (that was a joke… kinda)
Anyways, my family wasted $ 50 on this place. All you can eat mush. Wet/​dirty plates, frozen chopped eggs, some of the food was rotten. We were starved so we ate a bit and left. It was awful! I wanted a good salad place, I thought it would be like:

But, instead of being as good as Soup Plantation or better, Souper Salads is a cheap crappy imitation.
Don’t waste your money or time. Pay $ 20 at Whole Foods if you want a salad.

Ummmm… Can I have a side of flies, please?
Yes, this place was buzzing with flies and I quickly lost my appetite. Before the sight of the evil flying demons, I ate a little of the Caesar salad, which was good, and the Tortilla soup, which was not spicy enough for me, but still good. So, if you choose to go, bring a fly swatter.

One part of my salad (I don’t know WHICH part) tasted very bad. Everything else at this buffet was sub par. The cornbread wasn’t great, the soup wasn’t great, the breads weren’t great. Nothing at all was amazing there, or even very good. It was like everything I had was missing something.
I don’t recommend this place. Shell out a few more dollars and go to Sweet Tomatoes.

I’ll start off with the positive.
This place will give you all you can eat for $ 5.99. All you can eat salad, soup, pizza, breads, jello, ice cream, baked potatoes, pasta and tacos. This particular location has some really nice service staff, though, they do turnover quite frequently.
So parents, please keep watch over your kids. One young girl climbed up on the counter and dispensed herself some ice cream and once she had enough, she walked away, leaving the ice cream machine to continue to dispense ice cream. Children running amuck!
You can see what they’re serving online. I really like the lentil soup. And that they have spinach for the salad. If you like baked potatoes, you can make one and put chili in it. The pizza is thin crust and it’s tasty if they’ve baked it long enough, the past two times we’ve gone, the crust was soft, even soggy.
So on to the specific unpleasantries, luckily I haven’t experienced any of these at this particular location.
Have you found that Souper Salad is a magnet for disgusting people? Not that everyone is disgusting, it’s just that one person. Particularly the people who have total disregard for sanitation. So at a different location, we had a woman scrape the cool whip spoon with her own personal spoon. And even worse, at a different location a woman who scraped the cool whip spoon with her finger and licked it, turned to my brother-​in-​law and said, «I just can’t help myself.»
We continue to go to Souper Salad. I guess a little «Ignorance is Bliss» is in order here. If you see someone doing something unsanitary, report it. REPORT IT. You are obligated. The more people that report stuff like that, the better you are, the better ALL of us are. If you don’t stand for something, you’ll fall for anything. In this case, you’ll fall victim of influenza.
