Long but necessary; especially for those who depend on Unilocal for recommendations. They had a 5 stars rating, so they must be good right? WRONG!!! There is a chance that the good reviews are from the company members or people who took the $ 45 discount in exchange for a good review. This stuff cannot be made up!!! I declined the discount so that I could freely write this review. So, three dudes show up in a budget truck? At my apartment on a Tuesday morning. A budget truck! really? The company doesn’t even have their own truck? I bet I will be paying for the truck rental. Anyway I’m thinking, three instead of ‘two men and a truck’ I usually go for should be much faster. I only had a two bedroom apartment to move from. Boy was I wrong. I should have known when I saw one of the guys; a grown man carry a small table lamp in one hand and a flower vase in the other slowly shimming towards the truck. Needless to say it took them forever to load up. To make it worse I periodically spotted one of the guys sitting on the floor playing with my one year old puppy!!! And I’m paying for this!!! After the loading they decided to take an hour’s lunch but insisted that it was only 45 minutes even though I had my front porch camera at my new home capture the exact time they pulled in. The unloading was even slower. They were determined to take their time. I have never seen a person carry a single box on a dolly? Its ridicules! My girlfriend and I who are booth less than 5 foot 5 had to join in the unloading just to keep up some kind of pace. This is the first time I have actually helped movers help me move in my life. Once everything was unloaded they insisted on assembling the dismantled furniture stating that«this is very complicated«in a thick eastern european accent. I assured them we would be able to figure it out and I could see they were disappointed. That task would have added at least 3 hours onto my time. Eventually it was all complete and after I had declined to do the review on Unilocal for a discount, they left. They did not tell us where the screws for all the dismantled furniture were. Even after 2 attempts to call the company to ask where the movers had placed them, not only did they not answer the phone, we did not receive any call back after leaving messages on the answering machine. Luckily we combed through the huge pile of plastic wrap they had dumped in the living room(geez at least pick up your trash people) we found the screws. One of the guys also left their filthy jacket behind on my kitchen counter! I probably should drop it off to a local voodoo priestess. I still had to go back to the apartment and transport in my own car all the items that were«too little» or too fragile for them to take. This has been the worst most expensive experience I have had with movers. There are certain items two weeks after the move that I still cannot find… Stay away from this company.

Over the last 10 years I have done a lot of moving. I have moved from coast to coast, intrastate, and across town and each experience has taught me that quality movers are a rare commodity. When it was time to make my move from Oakland down to San Diego, I wanted to find a moving company that would treat my things with respect, without having to sell a kidney to pay the fees. Movers Northwood came highly recommended from a friend in SoCal and I figured I would give them a try. I’m so glad I did. This was the first moving company that was punctual, professional, and didn’t drain my savings. My things were packed with care and arrived at my new home without any damages(I can’t tell you how amazing that is)! I highly recommend Movers Northwood if you are looking for efficient, affordable, and professional movers.
