Local Public House

This place is a dump. But I mean that in the best possible way. Cheap beer, dirty floors, ambivalent service. It is about what you’d expect from a place that used to be a Taco Bell/​Bueno. Leave your self respect at the door, and join in the fun?

Awesome place and cheap beverages. Good people and just place to hangout. Me and my co workers head here 2 x a week. Great staff and amazing patio!!! Thanks a bunch. Whoop!!!

Some friends and I decided to stop by and try this place out.
There was only one waiter attending all the tables, so we rarely saw him. Most of the night our water glasses were empty. We ordered the mashed potato balls, they were tasty. Ordered a few burgers, both the burger and fries were cold. Not a place we will visit again.

Loved Viviana as our waitress and the guy with the man bun was awesome! Although, we didn’t care for the bartender that had her boobs hanging out all night. Her boob was hanging in my ranch dressing. Not very appetizing!

Hands down worst ran bar I have ever been to. There are a few staff members that came from Allen wickers which those staff members are amazing and know what customer service is but the owners and managers and all the head people need to go back to class and see how bad is supposed to be ran. Close down before health department comes in and shut down entire building

Great food, great music! There is an open Mic at this place EVERY Wednesday night with a five time Grammy winner (Tim Alexander) on Keys, Long time musician recording artist (Mark Austin) heads up the fun starting at 9PM. Come on out and enjoy local talent and have a cold beverage inside or on the patio!

Was there on open mic night. Loud and musicians were clickish. Beer was cold, bar staff was friendly. Weird atmosphere.

Cant complain so i wont. Decent food, decent price and average service i give it a ***

Downhill faster than an Olympic skier. The new staff, as they are quick to tell you, are awful. We have been here for 5 hours and the staff has only come to check on us twice. Other than that, we have gone to the bar every time. Used to come here frequently, won’t be back now. The bar girl keeps telling us that they are changing it, but it’s much worse. Too many bars in Plano to come back here again

Love this place. Kick ass bartenders and amazing food. Live bands every weekend and great drink specials!

The power of Unilocal is great in all aspects. People use this this application to give personal feedback on their experiences. and they use it to rally around disgruntled employees or to pull down a business rating due to personal feelings. Piecing together comments and finding the common denominator isn’t that hard to do.
LPH is a great place to be at, work at and represent. The negative comments that have been made in the last few days by a small group of people only makes us stronger and gives us the tools to be better.
I edited this review on my own accord not because anyone talks about my chest or my choice of perfume in their reviews… or even the fact the people posting the reviews has no problem calling women bitches but because I think everyone can be better than that and I’ll be the first to change tune.

I personally feel sad. This was our home away from home and practically paid their electric bills we spent so much money. We would meet our family and friends up there because it centrally located and followed Leslie over there. We actually saw some rude disturbing actions from the new bar manager and others that work there now. Now this place turned from a very welcoming friendly place to some rude as people that call out employees in front of customers. Needless to say we won’t be back there again. Very, very poor management. The energy went to shit

This place is horrible you have to beg to change the channel to a sports events, high price drinks, service stinks

I expect to see this place on Bar Rescue.
We went in to find a decent local bar but we were disappointed.
We walked in and were not greeted. We took a seat at the bar. The bartender asked us coldly if we knew what we wanted. I asked if there was a happy hour, it was 6PM. I just got a, «No» in return.
My wife asked if there was Blue Moon on tap. Bartender just said no. No substitutions suggested, just no. We ordered two draft beers and wondered if we would be offered a menu. Nope. What a shame since we read about the good food on Unilocal before we came.
We got our beers, and received the bill, which was $ 14.07. I just laughed.
We paid and shook the dust off our sandals as we walked out.
Anybody that knows me knows that I give people and bars the benefit of the doubt. But this place is the pits.

What can I say about LPH. Great bartenders, great drinks. They have a surprisingly good Cheeseburger. I have met a few of the owners and they actually care about their customers. After one night they know your name and what your favorite drink is. They have some great bands on the weekends. The karaōke on Thursday nights is a blast! If you are a smoker then you are in luck because they have a large patio with plenty of seating.

We liked it! Good food, beer and pretty good music. Nice little neighborhood place. We will be back and telling friends and neighbors.

Soooooo… this place used to be a Burger King.
If you walk in and look at the tile… Burger King.
If you look at the doors to the bathroom… Burger King.
If you get busy in the bathroom… that’s technically still funny, in a 90s rap song sort of way.
But hey, they have good beers on tap. You picky or something?

Went here quite a bit when it was known as «Bullwinkle’s». Not sure if the ownership has changed or not. Been to «Local Public House» four times in the past year and it’s fairly consistent. They have a great tap selection with some local brews.
Prices are meh. Service is prompt but the bartenders are aloof and not real social. Huge covered patio area. However, the inside is not very ergonomic and the bar area is cramped if you don’t grab a seat at the head of it. They have live music regularly but it doesn’t bode well in a place this cramped and attempting to have one of those in-​depth drunken conversations is damn near impossible when a cover band is wailing «Sweet Child O’ Mine» and shredding guitar.

Finally got a chance to eat at an entrée at The Local Public House. I went for the chicken fried steak.
It was a Saturday afternoon and there were only a couple of people at the bar so service was incredibly quick and the beer cool and refreshing after coaching a 1^st grade soccer game that morning!
Anyway, this steak came out and I thought I’d got a side of beef. The steak literally filled half the plate. The mashed potatoes were buried underneath and there were two triangles of toast.
First observation of the potatoes, they looked real and tasted real, not out of a packet. Seemed to have some skin on so maybe the wash was home made. The steak itself is what you pretty much expect, except for the batter. I usually expect a thick, heavy batter. This one was light and crunchy. Something I would expect to find on cod. In fact, if they did cod in this batter, you probably wouldn’t be able to pull me out of that place. Still, had a nice taste and the crunch was different.
The whole thing was covered in a white pepper gravy which was thick and didn’t run off the steak when you tried to eat it.
If I was to improve this dish, I would say maybe reduce the steak by ¼ and add a side veggie like green beans, corn, or something else. I guess it helps ease the guilt feeling if there’s something healthy on the side.
4 stars for this visit for quick accurate service, very nice meal, a star off for the thin batter, overly large steak (at least half the size of the plate) and lack of some vegetables to go with it.

The crowd at this place is hit or miss. One Friday/​Saturday it will be packed and then some weekends it’ll be dead I still can’t figure out why. Though, I can honestly say that their food is good it’s nothing out of the ordinary but they are done right. It’s very near where I live and that is a plus.
