Chimichanga Cozumel. If you are into shrimps and scallops, and avocado, go for it. You will lime it or love it. Is probably my best Chimichanga so far. Spicy enough that doesn’t delete the flavors. Greens and mushrooms. Great service, very cordial and enjoyable. Terry the place

What made this place 3 star worthy for us was solely the service and margarita. Came in with a couple of friends on a Saturday night and were seated and served without much of a wait. No one likes waiting to get their grub going on a Saturday night. On to the food part though… So we realize the other entrées may be better but as far as the quesadillas go, my 3 year old niece probably knows how to make a better one. Not sure where the cooks learned how to make quesadillas but I can bet it wasn’t from someone who’s actually eaten one before. What we got: two tortillas with steak/chicken inside, heated up enough to be warm but not pressed to be kept together, with sprinkled melted cheese on the top tortilla. That’s it, not sliced, just thrown on a plate with rice and beans. To sum it up, don’t order the quesadilla unless you like to eat yours with a knife and fork and slice a gummy tortilla apart.

I love the fact that they offer three different types of freshly made salsas to go with their thin and delicious crispy chips. I’ve been here several times and do enjoy the food. The Tilapia Veracruz I ordered was good but sauce was so rich. Menu states that the sauce is a spicy tomato based sauce. Not so much. Very rich, no spice. Tilapia was good though. I ordered the large portion :). Also ordered the Bacon-Wrapped Stuffed Shrimp as an appetizer. It tasted okay, but wouldn’t order it again. I believe it’s a little over 7 dollars. You get three and that’s fine. But the taste was not commensurate to the cost. Margaritas not so great. I ordered the Skinny and requested that they put very little of the skinny mix because too much will make it taste super sweet. I got a really super sweet skinny. I returned it for a regular margarita and it was still sweet. My server yesterday failed miserably. She did not check on us and had only thee tables in her section. Basically, she was never to be seen and was not acting like a server. She even brought my two-year-old a coke served in an adult glass. I was so irritated I wanted to complain to the manager. However, I did not do this. Would’ve given it 4 starts, but service was poor.

This is grilled steak fajita tacos?! Sorry these were the worst fajita tacos I’ve ever had. And how can you mess up fajita tacos?! It was not grilled meat, more like roast and what was this gross gravy on the meat. Rice and beans were averaged. Service was ok but a little slow considering the restaurant was pretty empty for lunch on a Thursday. Won’t go back. Glad I didn’t get the potatoes, they look like gross too.

To be honest, I didn’t really like this place. I gave it some stars because the service was awesome. The food however, seemed like it was microwaved and I’m saying this because it only took a few minutes until our order came out and our plate was super super hot. Again, our server Nick was very attentive and helpful. The environment was nice, and inside it really looked like we were in Mexico almost with the decoration they had in there. So the food was ok, but the service was top notch!

This is seriously the best place ever. My dad is visiting from Oregon, so we wanted to take him someplace nice before he returns home. Our waiter really set the bar high when it comes to unbridled service, I wish I had asked for his name so I could put his name on here. He was exceptional, and gave us chips to-go and habanero salsa to take home because I loved the salsa so much. We seriously left this place feeling like royalty because the service was so amazing. Even the hostess was extremely sweet and made sure we had a booth for our two little ones. Definitely my new favorite Tex-Mex restaurant, we will definitely be back. Did I mention the food was amazing??!

The server was nice but service was bad. We were seated immediately but waiting 30 minutes just to have our order taken. Our food order was incorrect, and the food here is subpar. Definietly not worth the money paid. Do not recommend.

Love their ambience… beautiful fountains, artificial sky. Perfect for a date night or lunch. I enjoyed the lunch better theres lesser crowd & i like it quite. Enjoy their 3 different types of salsas with the chips. You can ask for a spicier version of their salsa if u can handle the spice levels. Jalapeño chess fritters, spinach stuffed mushrooms, firecracker shrimp are the best in their appetizers. I only have the house speciality Pescado Guerrero. … wow it’s soooooooo delicious. I just ask the chef to make to we’ll cooked & non smelly. And it comes out perfect all the time. Love this place. Expensive but worth every penny.

I have to go with 3 stars because every other time I’ve been here it’s been great. We had Joey as our waiter. He treated us really badly. He told us he was going to try to roll us through because he had somewhere he needed to be, but had to stay because we requested him. I suggested that he turn our table over to a different waiter because we don’t want to rush. He said, he would take care of us. After two salsas he made comments about us eating too much, and then reminded us that he needed to be somewhere. We finally got our entrée, a double order of beef fajitas and 3 corn tortillas to share. For the rest of dinner he was nonexistent. No refills on anything — no salsa, no tortillas, no drink refills, nothing. We finally flagged down another waiter for a drink refill for my kid. The next time we saw Joey, he gave us the check. This was an $ 80 dinner. We left feeling self conscious and ripped off. I still feel that way. Next time I’ll prob go somewhere else. I get that he didn’t want to be there, but we did. My sis was in town so I took her to the one place I knew we would get good service, only to have a waiter treat us like we were an annoyance.

The service and ambience is special here, but that’s about it. We ordered queso con chile, and though the chips were thin and crispy, the queso itself was just gross microwaved cheese. With all the tex mex in the area, i don’t get how you can do that. I ordered the vegetable enchiladas which came with tasteless vegetables and tasteless lime rice. The guac was nice though I noticed the food is never hot, such as the tortillas that come with enchiladas, or even the queso itself.

Ribeye was absolutely good I recommend to say medium rare and center cut and the chocolate molten cake was moist and goes along with the chocolate sauce and the only thing wrong was the cake was not hot enough

This is my mom’s favorite restaurant, she brings me over here almost every two weeks. I really love the cheese cake in Abuello and it was very good. I took my best friend who is from Japan to this place and she also love the style of the restaurant. I would like to come back again!

Came back because I really enjoy the food. I have to say, we had exceptional service this time around, from James. We had drinks, chips and salsa before my bf could join me at the table after smoking. which NEVER happens. James was super attentive and we were never without drink refills, full salsa bowls and chips. We even got one chip basket per person, so I felt special. We usually get the dip sampler, but the queso diablo really varies, sometimes it had a lot of meat, as pictured in the menu, but more often it has way more queso and is not that much different than the chile con queso. I decided I did not feel like arguing this time around and just ate it. James brought me more than 3 flour tortillas the first time, which is usually how many I get when I ask, and just have to ask for more. My green chile quesadilla incorrectly came with chicken and without the sour cream and ranch it comes with, but this appeared to be the fault of the kitchen and James had it quickly fixed and it was delicious. Stuffed chicken medallions were a hit as well. James even offered us drinks to go on a hot summer day. I asked for a manager to ensure he knew that we received exceptional service at this visit.

Visited from California this past weekend to celebrate my birthday and visit my sister & her fam. We have a lot of great Mexican food here in California but I knew this place classified as Tex-Mex so I was especially excited to try it seeing as this was my FIRST experience with real«Tex Mex». I loved it. I tried not to judge it up against the traditional mexican food — I judge it for what it was. And what was it? Amazing. It was amazing. The queso, the dips, the salsas, the chimichanga. The chips were even good! Super thin and crispy — not dense. I like that! None of us were really fans of the«Papas con Chile» which surprised me a bit because it looked promising and seemed to be a favorite here. Our waiter even went so far as to make me a customized drink! Like Strawberry lemonade but with Sprite. It was delicious! Can’t wait to come back to this place on my next visit.

I have been to this place numerous times and every time the food is good and most of the time the waiters are very good. The alcoholic beverages are always on time even the house margarita is good and normally the house drinks are not. They have a lunch menu that averages anywhere between $ 10 and $ 12. I ordered the chimichanga with the charro beans and creamed spinach.

After 25 years in business, it is safe to say that Abuelo’s is doing something right. Scratch that. They are doing A LOT right. I revisited Abuelo’s this past week after about a 10 year hiatus and it is just as good, if not better, than I remembered. Although the menu has changed over the years, the fresh ingredients and amazing service hasn’t changed. The guacamole is fantastic although a bit under-seasoned for my liking. The Firecracker Shrimp appetizer was the clear winner of our group. Spicy and crunchy it really holds true to it’s name but the mango salsa balances the heat and makes you come back for more. I had the enchiladas which were absolutely incredible. I literally could have eaten about 10 of them which I’m not sure would have even been enough to satisfy me. Ending the evening, we had the flan which I have to say, I wasn’t particularly thrilled about. I’ve never been a flan person, its a texture thing BUT I could have eaten this all by myself. The flan here is a family recipe and the secret is held close. It is tasty, rich and carmel-like with just the right amount of sweet. I can’t wait to go back!
