I love going to Umberto’s in Plainview at 10:45 in the morning just as they are pulling the first Grandma pie out of the oven. The sauce is rich and sweet and the dough is crisp and flavorful with the exact same texture as my Sicilian Grandmother’s homemade pizza. Eating this pizza brings back fond memories of my childhood in Cypress Hill, Brooklyn. There is nothing better than eating fresh pizza for breakfast! I just wish that they would put fresh garlic and chopped basil on top of the Grandma pie. It’s not really legit grandma unless it has the basil and garlic on top. Sometimes I get the slices to go and add the chopped garlic and basil at home.

It was a cold Sunday evening and there was a Championship Football Game on the tv… perfect time to stay home and order in! Which we did… Called Umbertos in Plainview and 45 minutes my order arrived! Got the Grandma Pie with ½ mushrooms… it was perfect! thin crust, wonderful tomato sauce and just plain wonderful. They are our go to delivery in the area… Thanks Umberto for coming out in the snow to make me happy and fulfill our need for Pizza!

The prices were a lil high, but other than that I liked everything about this place. You know those pizzerias that try a bit harder, they have tiles on the floor, flat screens, maybe a chandelier even? This is one of those places, hanging out unassumingly in a strip mall.

Very disappointing. I came with a groupon for a late lunch and the portions were very small. Calamari was under cooked and was sadly the best part of the meal. They also ran out of panini bread for my pollo panini and my husband ordered the chicken parm hero which came out with two tiny pieces of chicken. The icing on the cake was when they started cleaning with bleach while we were eating. We left because we have two small kids and the odor was intense. Waitress was nice but I will not be returning.

There seems to be a wide disparity in the ratings for the Plainview Umberto’s. All I can say is that the Pazzo Pizza, a deep dish pizza with Mozzarella, marinara, black olives, roasted peppers and the best home made ground sausage is mu favorite pizza on Long Island. The sausage is a family recipe and the pizza takes a little longer to cook because the sausage has to cook all the way through. I was told that Pazzo means crazy in Italian. Well this pizza is crazy good. As for the service, the owner(who I believe is a son of the New Hyde Park owner) has been there every single time I have come in. He couldn’t be nicer and he sees everything that happens there. So I’m not sure what all the fuss is about the service. Every single thing I have seen ordered there is either made to order or put in the pizza oven before it’s served so I just can’t see how anything eaten there could be cold. You do what you want, but I’m going back again and again.

I came in on a Monday for dinner with the family. Service was great, food was A+ and we were very happy with the portions and choices we had. Their bread basket had garlic knots and slices of a really nice Italian bread which was appreciated.

My boyfriend and I ordered from this place for dinner. We got a hero, 2 slices, knots and a salad and it was all pretty horrible. The buffalo chicken slice lacked flavor. I was severely disappointed. There was barely any sauce on the hero so it was dry. I would never order from them again. The only reason they’re getting 2 stars is because it was delivered very quickly.

Rude –really rude– staff; charred, dry, tasteless, over priced food; brown lettuce thrown on a plate with a few croutons cost $ 7.95… We would have been better off with Domino’s or a frozen pizza in our own home. Never again.

So I try to order a pizza with my usual; Pepperoni, Feta, olives and garlic. Feta wasn’t listed as a side but they sell greek salads which have feta. I even offered to pay for two salads hold the vegetables. The manager still said no. Seriously?

I absolutely love going to this place for slices. Their cheese slice and Sicilians are delicious! There is indoor and outdoor seating and this place is always busy! There is a parking lot which is smaller, but helps to avoid parking clutter on the street!

Never in my life have my family and I received poorer service at a restaurant. It’s a pizzeria so we didn’t expect a fine dining experience to begin with but our time there was far, far worse than anticipated. Our waitress, Daisy, forgot to put in my mother’s pizza order and it took several times of asking her where it is for her to realize she never asked those in the front cooking the pizza to have it made.(There is very poor communication between them and the waiting staff). So my father and I were sitting there with our food for almost an hour by the time my mother got her pizza. And it wasn’t just the fact that she got her food so late, because obviously people make mistakes, but the waitress was unaccommodating and unapologetic. It was an overall unpleasant experience to say the least and my family and I will surely never go back.

Rudest delivery kids ever. They lost my business. I liked the pizza but had to witness my wife be insulted at the door.

We came here because of Groupon. Very disappointed. We got chicken Marsala, but linguine came in another 5 minutes cause they threw away the Marsala sauce so they gave us Francaise sauce instead! Really? Not coming back !

We each had an excellent slice of plain pizza to start. Our meal was preceded by some really good garlic knots. Everything was going great until the main dishes arrived. My girlfriend got a chicken marsala which was 2 small cutlets in a very oily sauce. So much so she sent it back for a pasta and vegetable dish which also left a ton to be desired. Bland with soggy vegetables. I wanted to try the veal and chicken so had a chicken parm hero and veal parm hero.(Not a pig ate half of each) Both were ok but not great. I preferred the chicken. That said we would certainly return for pizza or sandwiches but not for the entrees. Prices for entrees were kind of steep too for a pizzeria but prices I would be ok with if dishes were good.

Highly recommend! Visited this since I’ve been craving pizza from Umberto’s in New Hyde Park. Did not disappoint — excellent pizza, perfectly cooked thin crust with the sauce(oh the sauce). Get the regular pie, didn’t care too much for the margharita slice though. This just made my top 5 list for pizza in Suffolk County. Note — we plugged in the address to our gps and got lost. They are located in the area near Fairway, not the other shopping center.

Great family spot. I’m not from the neighborhood so I did a quick Unilocal search for pizza(my son’s fav) and came across this spot. The place wasn’t crowded at all. The staff were very welcoming and inviting and we got great, attentive table service. Although this place looks like it’s just another pizza spot, my hubbie and I ordered full meals from their list of specials — veal for me and chicken for him — and we were pleasantly surprised at the high-quality of the meal. Plus, the garlic knots that came with the meal were delicious! If I’m ever in the neighborhood again, I will definitely be back.

I’m a big fan of Umberto’s Pizzeria from New Hyde Park. We decided to try this one for dinner. We ordered shrimp scampi, and bolonese tortolini, the pasta was okay but the shrimp scampi was extremely salty. The restaurant is a lot smaller than what I expected it probably seats less than 20 people. I will stick to the NHP Umbertos.

These seem to be the days you have to expect paying 6.50 for two slices of pizza(one plain & one white slice) but just look up and youll wonder why they dont have any pride in thier good name! On a friday at 1:15 the pizzas under the glass were less then fresh at all. Dried up sauces nothing appetizing about them. My two slices were burnt on the bottom and spaces of dried dough with no cheese or moist sauce. The shocker is above your head. The ceiling tiles are brown and stained. The ac vents are rusty and filthy so what does the kitchen look like? Yeiks they say you can tell the cleanness from a restaurants bathroom this is right out in the open! Big name no Shame pass and try the next place. At least until they feel the neighborhod is worth thier business and they fix the obvious neglect in thier own resturant

Their Sicilian pizza tastes just like the one I ate as a kid at Pizza City in Howard Beach, it’s great. Didn’t try any others, but I will be back. Great customer service, I got up to get a second slice and the waitress threw out my soda by mistake, and then ran to get me a new one as she apologized. Very nice & friendly feel.

BESTGRANDMAPIZZA. EVER
So So good. I really love my pizza. It one of my favorite things. Saying that, grandma pizza from Umberto’s is at the top of my list. Very similar to sicilian pizza but with a thinner crust. We ordered a regular grandma style pie and it fed the 4 of us very well! The pie comes with 12 squares of cheesy goodness! So worth it for the price you pay. Umberto’s does it right, the pizza is nice and crisp with the perfect ratio of cheese and sauce. Thankgod i dont live close to Umberto’s because i would be tempted to order from them all the time. This new location is also very nice, the staff is super friendly and make you feel welcome. I prefer this location to the one in New hyde park, there is much more parking and the restuarant is nice and new. I also have an excuse to go here now since its so close to fairway market, you can shop and then eat! what’s better than that?
