I went here to get a cut, color, and style and was seriously disappointed. I have dark brown hair and wanted to lighten just a couple shades and came out with orange hair. I had a really important day coming up and told the stylist all about it while she worked on me… I haven’t colored my hair in over 10 years and was really excited. I showed her a couple of pictures of what I wanted and she barely looked at them but I thought since she was the professional she understood what I was going for. After it was all said and done i had seriously bright orange hair. She kept telling me that it was fine and that I’m not used to a different color. She even had other stylists tell me how good it looked but when I got home everyone asked me why my hair was orange and I cried. I ended up having to box dye my hair that night because salon nine was closed sun and mon. And I had to speak at a conference on Tuesday morning. I wasn’t so upset about the mistake in color, because that happens but I was absolutely furious that I trusted the stylist(Darby) and she let me walk out with orange hair even though she knew how important it was to me to have my hair done for Tuesday. Also, she was way over booked and worked on two other girls simultaneously. she had the assistant help color my hair and the assistant styled me too. I definitely didn’t feel like a priority and it was DEFINITELY way over priced for the results that I had. I will never be back.

The salon is beautiful. Very spacious and clean. Excellent customer focused staff. I was greeted immediately upon arriving by a very nice receptionist and asked if I would like a refreshment. Can’t say that I am thrilled with my haircut though. I went in for a cut and style on December 10, 2014 with no real idea of what I wanted. I communicated that I wanted a change, wasn’t afraid of a short cut and was open to anything. I expressed that I wanted body and something I could easily style. What I got was a trim with no layers, no depth. I was really disappointed as I was looking forward to leaving the salon with a terrific haircut. I exited looking exactly the same as I did walking in minus an inch of hair. The young stylist was sweet, but inexperienced and relunctant to take the lead. She just earned her chair which doesn’t bother me, but I should have been told she was a new stylist. I know some individuals think that you have to tell a stylist exactly what you want, but that’s not always the case. If given complete discretion, a great stylst should be confindent enough to take the lead and give you a cut that suits you based on feedback, hair type and the shape of your face. Overall, not impressed with Salon 9. $ 60 not well spent. I could of gotten the same cut at a Fantastic Sam’s or some other chain salon.

I had just recently moved into Plainfield and a representative from the Chamber of Commerce stopped by and gave us a ton of coupons, one being for this salon for a free haircut. I had been procrastinating for a little but my hair had enough and it needed a cut badly. So I called and scheduled an appt for the same day and they had no issue fitting me in. I was a little hesitant on getting a specific cut I had been wanting for awhile but I went with my gut and did it. Samantha was my stylist and she did a phenomenal job! I have thick curly difficult hair and she managed to give me exactly what I wanted. She took her time and didn’t rush the service. I happy to say I believe I’ve found my stylist/salon. Never going to anyone else again!

I had a totally different experience at Salon 9. The stylist I saw never listened to anything I asked her to do. It was the worst haircut I’ve ever had. The color wasn’t close to what I asked for. To top everything I sent an e: mail to the manager and today I got a call asking if I was keeping my next appointment. So, they don’t listen to what the customer wants and they don’t read e: mails. This is a very over priced salon with people who don’t bother to listen.

I recently moved and had to find a new salon which I was pretty bummed about to begin with. I thought I’d find a place between home and work so it would always be accomodating. I read these reviews and decided to schedule an appointment. They got me in right away and the prices and services on their menu were similar to the salon I previously went to in Woodridge. I went for my appointment and thought the salon was very nice, the staff was friendly, the stylist was too. He listened to what I had in mind and went to work. The color was just what I pictured, the cut was ok, not exactly what I wanted but I liked it. When I went up to the counter to pay, I was blown away! I am used to paying about $ 175 for my cut, color and style, my bill here was $ 202WITH a $ 25 discount!!! I almost fell over. I paid the bill and left in shock. I called later that day to find out what exactly I was charged for because I didn’t get an receipt and she knew the haircut was $ 15 after the discount and the glaze was $ 25 but she had to get the stylist to explain the rest of the amount SHE charged me. He explained that because my roots were grown out(which they were a bit) and I was changing the color some, it was a multiple process which is what caused the charge to be high but, next time it won’t be that bad because it will just be a touch up. So in other words… if I change a color or add a color, it’s going to be over $ 200 again?! I didn’t feel good about it. I won’t be going back. I’d rather drive from New Lenox to Woodridge to my old salon!

When I first moved to Plainfield, I had no idea where to get my hair cut. We received a welcome basket from the Chamber of Commerce, and in it was a coupon for a free hair cut at Salon 9. At first, I was really skeptical. Free haircut– how good could that be? The stars must have aligned for me, though, because I was very fortunate to meet Dana, one of the stylists. She has been cutting my hair for over 2 years now, and I would recommend her to anyone! The rest of the staff is great, too– always friendly and accommodating. The only complaint I have is about the parking– it is a shared parking lot, and you have to park in the back and walk through a building and back outside to get to the front of the salon, which can be pretty darn cold in the winter. Definitely worth the trek, though. :)

I have been going to Salon 9 for years. I moved to Chicago a couple of years back and I now commute an hour south to get my hair cut and colored. Wonderful atmosphere with wonderful people that work there.

Most guys wouldn’t think to go to a salon like this for a haircut, but they do a great and consistent job. Going for a haircut is actually a relaxing experience — the wash with head massage they give before every haircut is fantastic. No matter what’s on my mind, this always puts me in a better mood. I usually see Ryan for haircuts and one thing I like about this place is the personal touch. Being a guy I generally go in for the same haircut regularly, and I don’t have to say a word and my hair comes out great each time. I’ve noticed there’s very little turnover in stylists, this is a good sign that they have good stylists with happy customers. Over the years I’ve probably had a cut from every stylist when my normal stylist isn’t available and I always come out looking great. The ladies behind the front desk always are very polite, fun to chat with, and always offer a beverage and to take my coat. Yeah, I could probably go to one of those chain hair cutting places and get a hair cut by someone different every time, who’s only looking to get me out of there as quickly as possible. I might even save a few dollars, but when it comes to haircare, you do get what you pay for. You can tell that the staff here really are passionate about their art and genuinely work to make you look your best when you walk out the door. I don’t know much about ladies hair, but they always look great(and seem happy) when they leave. . Highly recommended.

I have been going to Dana for years. I have never had a bad cut or color from her. In fact, I have never had a BETTER cut or color from anyone else. I have very long hair and am EXTREMELY particular. Dana tolerates my demands, and she does it with flare and a sense of humor. My entire family goes to this Salon, which includes my husband and three children and my mom. My daughter just cut her hair short after wearing it long for many years. She also got some highlights. Looked amazing. I recommend this salon to everyone I know simply because I know if they go see Dana, they will leave thrilled. The entire salon knows our names and greets us with professionalism and courtesy every time. They carry fabulous hair products(Prive, Morroccan Oil) and they send out coupons for their regular customers. They also post coupons on their Facebook page. I wouldn’t trust my hair to anyone else, EVER. BTW — Ryan and Cherise have done an awesome job when Dana wasn’t available.
