Blu and Awesome bar in Downtown Plainfield. They definitely accomplished their intention of appealing to a broad clientele. It is a very inviting space with modern décor. If I didn’t know better I would feel like I was in downtown Chicago. You can dress up or not and feel comfortable either way. They always seem to have something going on. Karaōke, Trivia, or Ladies Night. As far as drinks, they are delicious! Shout out to Nikki and the rest of the AWESOME crew at BLU! If you’re in Plainfield stop by and say hello to Michael the owner. You can usually catch him at the corner of the bar greeting folks as they come in.

Came here for the first time on a Friday night with my cousin for a girls night. There were only two other people in the place which I thought was odd, but figured maybe it was still early. The bartender suggested a martini ended up being awesome! We had another & decided to go next door to switch up the night. Now I know why no one was in there & next door… wow was it expensive! $ 10 a drink! We went next door & it was half! Overall, the drinks were good, the place has a great atmosphere & décor. Bartenders are nice, but not worth the high prices.

Been here a couple times, atmosphere is good, decent place to stop in. Here is where the bad review comes in. This is supposedly a martini bar; the bartenders did not know know how to make a French Martini. So then we ordered Cosmopolitans which were undrinkable. I tasted it and it was terrible. I ordered an old fashion, and once again it was terrible. If you drink bottled beer or order«easy» drinks then this place is decent but this is a martini bar!

My mother and I stopped in for drinks on a Tuesday night to celebrate her birthday. The bartender, Cassie, greeted us as soon as we walked in and was extremely attentive throughout the night. We had the Indulgence martini, Wasabi martini, Caipirhina, and a still-unnamed Jameson & Schnapps shot(I’m lobbying for the«Irish Peach!»). The drinks were poured and presented well. A DJ came in around 8:30 or 9 and played pop music. It was karaōke night but only 2 or 3 people had gone by the time we left around 10:30. All-in-all an excellent place to grab a drink after work or go out a little later in the evening with friends. We’ll definitely be back.

The atmosphere was engaging and the staff was attentive. Drinks were free poured but balanced. Reasonably priced and affordable.

I had been seeing words like«high end» «upscale» and«sophisticated» «cool vibe»…so I finally made it in on a weeknight to check it out. This was NOT what I encountered at all. There was a DJ playing country music right after a couple of frumpy women finished their karaōke. complete with the spinning disco light. YUCK. Maybe we have different definitions of what«high end» is, fellow Unilocalers. Im not wealthy, but know that the finer places cost $$$$ and sometimes I like to splurge… if the money is well-spent. Next, I encountered a sloppy, poorly dressed bartender that kept her back to me the entire time I got there, sat down, etc… shes eating — - with her hands, and then reaches over to handle things at the bar like like drink guns, etc. Not«upscale» to me. I said«excuse me miss… whatcha eatin’ there?» in an attempt to get her attention. to which she says with a mouth full of food«cheese curds». Classy? Upscale? NOT. Looks like an acceptable drink menu, for the masses… when I check in again I’ll hit the wine list. The crowd was small but seemed to be a mix of standard suburbanites and a few tatooed flannel wearing bad boy types. Right now Blu is not«high end» at all by my definition for cocktails of 10 – 15 bucks. *(For an example of «high end» compare it to a place like«Vie» in Western Springs — See for yourself if you think Im being snobby/pretentious.) These drinks I was seeing made and served seemed to be Like drinking goofy umbrealla type drinks… like sunny D with a splash of booze. And no, a chocolate martini with some hershey swirls in the glass isn’t extraordinary to me. Plus I would suggest you serve the drink with a cocktail napkin underneath. When you have a garnish, in this case a slice of jalepeno pepper, that garnish should be fresh. The pepper was wrinkled, wilted and was dehydrating after being exposed in the air for what im sure was a long time. I really, REALLY want this place to succeed, really I do. But I like to tell it like it is, and be pretty blunt about what«high end» customers are expecting… so the management knows how the place is being perceived. Yes, I will pay $ 15 bucks for a good cocktail. But I don’t want a kareoke machine and the hosts eating cheese curds. Sorry. I’ll try again a few times more, since they are new and trying to find their stride. a normal evolution.

Upscale yet cozy environment. Amazing and unique drink selection. Try the watermelon mint martini. Friendly service and no pretention. We need to support local places like this!

Great and fun bar with unique drink options with local, fresh, and rare ingredients. They offer whiskey flights and tequila flights which I found interesting. We found their servers and service attentive and fast. There are small plate food options here but we have not tried them. They have also accomodated us for large groups. This business is owned by the same people that own Hop, Scotch & Vine — another great downtown Plainfield location.

Last Thursday me and my two girlfriends went here to grab a drink, looked like a fun new place to try. Before we even ordered our drinks the bartender started taking pictures of us not very discreetly. We felt super uncomfortable and after a few minutes we decided to leave. While walking out we hear rude comments shouted to us. I’m sorry but this is not the way to attract customers and make a name for your business.

My Girlfriend and I stopped by on Wednesday just after the happy hour ended. Of course we did not know that this is the first time we have been to blu. We walked inside and were impressed by the upscale atmosphere, the bar seats were very comfortable(probably the most comfortable I’ve sat in) We didn’t have to wait long at all to be greeted and have menu’s presented to us. The bartender was friendly and answered any questions we had. The menu was nice and simple and not too long just short and sweet. I ordered an old fashioned to start with and got it for the happy hour price which was very nice of the bartender. My one complaint is they did not have any oranges left for my drink but it was still good. We had 4 more drinks between us and they were all fantastic. Highly recommend the blu colada and the lemon meringue martini. Pros: Good drinks Atmosphere Music Service Cons: I wish they could expand on the food selection(but I understand they are not a restaurant)

Plainfield just got cooler. I spent the best years of my youth living in Chicago, but since becoming a family guy, now I’m a schlep in the ‘burbs. If you love city nightlife, this is your bar.

Don’t bother going there. Waste of time and $$$. I can’t see how Plainfield can support a place like this with the prices they are charging. I had high hopes for this place but after visiting once, I will not be returning.

It has a high end South Florida vibe. Great to see the explosion of downtown Plainfield. The night we came it was partly crowed with good music and strong drinks.

Absolutely my favorite new place in downtown Plainfield! The drinks are made with fresh ingredients and the bartenders are amazing! I’d make this a stop in your travels for sure! There’s a light menu for food if you desire, but it’s the delicious array of premium spirits that’ll keep you coming back again and again! A DON’T MISS!
