We shop at the Grocery Outlet typically for wine only, and were inspired to write this review based on the excellent customer service we received from Greg today. We purchase about 100 bottles a year here and have never met this guy! Greg had incredible knowledge of his entire stock and helped us create a perfect mixed case of wine. Because most of the wines we buy are for gifts, it is really important that we get the best wines in an attempt to impress our visiting wine connoisseurs! Greg knew his stock inside and out and we are hoping to be able to be able to tap into his of wealth of information on future visits. Thanks Greg and thanks Grocery Outlet for providing these great values!

We go to this store almost every week. The store is clean and the people working there are very nice and helpful. Can’t beat prices!

Yay! I’m fan. that should sum it up. ;) I like shopping here, compare to Savmart down the street or expensive Safeway and raleys other side of town. This store is clean and always seems to have better selection of produce than the folsom location. Customer service is ok. i don’t expect store clerk to engage in a long converstaion, while they have 20 other people in line. i don’t know what Nicole H problem was. did she expect a personal shopper while in store. who knows. i think GO staff and store is good. with everything it can be better. Pros: Great selection of wines & produce Cons: expired boxed items(like cookies and cheese)

I felt like I didn’t find as many goodies as the GO in South Lake Tahoe but I was happy with what I purchased. It’s a smaller darker store than I’m used to and it’s always crowded whenever I go. The first time I went I was so overwhelmed I left without purchasing anything. The second time, I braved the traffic jam by the produce and the long lines at check out. I got some hair masks, a couple plastic bins for organizing my closet, seaweed snacks, milk, produce, and enough goods for dinner that night. It can definitely be a first stop before you hit Raleys if you don’t mind driving across town.

There aren’t many grocery options in town, with Raley’s being a high cost option, I was really glad that Grocery Outlet was around, even though you have to drive clear to the other side of town to get to it. There’s a Dollar Store in the same shopping center so you can combine trips. I’m not below that, and I hope you aren’t either. I love a bargain. Clerks are friendly and helpful here and they aren’t snoody like the clerks in town and at Raleys.

There are some really great GO’s especially around the Bay Area and some really rate 5 stars. I’m affraid the Placerville store doesn’t come up to this high standard, but it does offer some nice bargains. Wife:She heads for the cheese Me: I run to the wines You can not go into any Grocery Outlet and expect to do your complete grocery shopping list. Like going to the Fine Art Museum of San Francisco(DeYoung) you can find some fantastic art to relish, but you wouldn’t see everything there is to see in art. A rather stupid comparison but at least it caught your eye. What I mean to say is that you go to the Grocery Outlet to see what bargains they might have today. It may not be there tomorrow but that is the Grocery Outlet experience. Examine the bargain you find and look at the expiration date. Let the buyer beware! I love the wine selection and really have not had a totally bad wine buy and sometimes some truly great experiences.

Maybe I’m spoiled with the South Lake Tahoe G.O. as my own, but in comparison this one is super ghetto and not very friendly. 2 stars for the usual G.O. good deals, but that’s where it ends…

My family is a fan of a good deal(isn’t everyone?) and have frequented grocery outlet stores in Sacramento as long as i can remember, the west Sacramento store is pack full of odd candies, frozen foods and cheep toys. With the economy the way it is in El Dorado county I expected this store a similar gold mine. I was wrong. The whole store is mere five short isles which barley filled!

I do love me some white trash nostalgia. My mother has affectionately referred to this chain of stores as «Goutlet» since our days of shopping at the now defunct North Highlands location in the early ‘90s. If you’ve been to any of the other locations at any point in the past, you have an expectation: ridiculously low prices and a potential hazard to your health. Fortunately, the Placerville edition of Grocery Outlet is easily the cleanest and most loaded one I’ve ever been to. That’s not to say I’m going to start buying non-frozen meat and dairy products here, but it’s certainly good for other things. You know, getting 4 frozen pizzas for the price of one, pallets of kidney-stone causing Shasta cola, off-brands you’ve never seen anywhere else, and making the employees wonder just how much weed you smoke by buying 10 boxes of Boo Berry cereal in one shopping trip. You’ll feel right at home if you’re paying with food stamps. They even have Hamms beer and a closeout DVD rack that for some reason will randomly have an art film mixed in with your routine Matthew McConaughey puke-a-thon. The staff is friendly in that«I live in a small town and I’m desperately lonely» way, although they’re easily startled if you’re on lack of sleep and generally pissed off during your shopping trip. If you’re thrifty and a native of Placerville, I highly recommend coming here as your first grocery stop and knocking out as much of your list as you can before finishing up at Raley’s. All your junk food needs are covered. Eggs? Nah, I’ll be a hippie douchebag and get some organic ones from Noah’s to trust that my liver wont shut down.

I can’t even begin to add up the money I have saved here! I love that I can find the same organic food and body supplies for several dollars less than any where Else. Every time I walk out of there I feel like I’ve scored! I’m def a fan of the G. O:)

Now I know I may just be a lowly Berkeley grad student on my way to a few days in Tahoe, but good ol’ GO in Placerville isn’t too good for me. The store was a tad bit more organized and cleaner(albeit smaller) than my local Berkeley location, and you just can’t beat getting enough groceries to heartily feed 5 people for 2 days(plus pleeennnnty of beer and wine) for about $ 100. The staff was really friendly, too. For kicks, my friend picked up a spiffy pair of headphones here as part of his snowboarding outfit. Never saw a bigger smile on the dude’s face. PS I do agree with the previous reviewer on produce — fruits and veggies are better fresher, and I’d rather not spend time picking the good out of the bad.

If you’re in the lower socioeconomic strata, this might be a reasonable place to shop, but otherwise… nuh-uh. A –lot– of the foodstuffs are either closeouts from out-of-state chains, or the expiration dates are almost expired. The prices may be good — but not if you wind up throwing stuff out because it went bad too quickly. I’ll stick with Raley’s.
