I’ve been coming here for over a decade now and I love this place. The service is awesome. They recognize my family and I and they even give us free treats. Downside is that the drinks are overpriced and the place isn’t always that clean.

This is my honest opinion I came here as a reference when I was younger someone had told us it was quite good and to me it was ! Awesome portions simple hellos and goodbyes and their food was on the salty side but I loved it ! Today 1÷18÷2016 I went and blah !!! Gross ! I’m more then positive they sold the establishment to someone cause the regulars are no longer there and they have changed the name to crane but it’s gross noddles are stiff and have no flavor the mushroom chicken(meat was disgusting) ! Just no I waited and waited for them to open back up and it was a major let down ! Thank you for your long time good food service but no longer going back !!!

Large portions and fairly priced. Looked fairly empty for a Friday night.

Yummy Chinese fast food, big portions and cheap price. I come to this fast food joint at least twice a week, yeah that’s right! Hey, if you like big portions and cheap price, I would give this place a try. Great service and very clean compared to other Chinese restaurant I been to. My favorites are their teriyaki chicken, chow mien, beef with broccoli, orange chicken and mushrooms chicken, yum!

i go here because it is close to my house and they usually give good portions, but when i went they had almost no chow mein left so she skimped me on that and i asked for teriyaki sauce to go so i could put it on myself when i went home and she didn’t give me any. instead she gave me some hot sauce that i didn’t ask for. the only reason i gave them two stars this time was their actual saving grace was the teriyaki chicken was pretty good. i usually get the orange chicken but this time it wasn’t normal orange chicken that you would think you would see at a chinese food place. it was actual big chunks of regular chicken in some kind of orange sauce. this will not be my first choice again for chinese food.

I’ll be the first to admit that I have a major soft spot in my heart for strip mall, steam tray type Chinese joints. I’m definitely not picky, and I’m pretty much down to subject my stomach to just about anything. Having said that, Hong Kong Express is probably not a place for food snobs. The location leaves a lot to be desired. It’s tucked in the back corner of a run-down plaza which caters mostly to the Hispanic population of Placentia. It looks a little shabby from the outside, and unfortunately the inside isn’t much better: a bit dingy, sticky tables, etc. They even have a weird tree by the soda machines in a planter filled with old egg shells. But I digress… The good thing about Hong Kong Express is that they’re considerably cheaper than a lot of other places I’ve been. I paid under six bucks for a 3-item combo, which is decent. I think the quality of the food suffers, though. Their BBQ Pork was okay, a little on the fatty side, but their Kung Pao Chicken was entirely too sweet for my tastes, and wasn’t really spicy at all. I was going to try their String Bean Chicken, but it looked as though it had been sitting under the heat lamps for hours. In fact, a lot of their food looked like that. I settled on the Teriyaki Chicken. I must admit, it was some of the better Teriyaki Chicken I have had. It was slightly crispy, although it didn’t have any sauce on it(perhaps I could have asked for some). The rice and chow mein were only so-so; relatively bland and a little soggy. Bottom line: I’m not going to go out and recommend this place to my friends. If you’re in the Fullerton/Placentia area and you’re looking for a decent fast food Chinese joint, check out The Wok Experience on Kraemer and Yorba Linda. It’s not much farther, they have a LOT more variety, the portions are huge, and their food is actually fresh. P. S. The parking in this plaza sucks now that Northgate Market has opened. In what used to be a nearly deserted parking lot, I had to hunt to find a single open parking spot. Quite annoying since the food didn’t turn out to be all that great.

In a relaxed, quiet, striplet with a uniquely excellent amount of parking, you find Hong Kong Express. By the 57fwy on Chapman near Placentia st in Placentia. It is not the most fancied up striplet or restaurant but it works. Plenty of tables to eat at, like 8 or 9. Selection was ok Enough orange chicken which many family and relatives like, lots of beef and brocoli which OC freinds like, they also had black bean ribs, some kind of seafood, kung pao, mandarin chicken, teriyaki chicken, fried rice, noodles some combos and various styles of fried rice. Chicken I had teriyaki chicken which I loved, a bit salty for many people’s taste, i enjoyed the way it was cooked. Though, I will have to eat more fiber & vegetable oil and no animal fats tommorow to balance out. Noodles I have seen noodles like these, they were rather soft, not my personal prefferrence. I like my noodles strong. Rice rather soft too, at least it looked like Jasmin rice, so that made me happy, but, overall, I though the rice was ok. From the conversation I heard, it appears the place is under new ownership, the people there are very freindly and service is quick. I was thinking of rating a 2, but I need to try thier other items. Plus, I really enjoyed thier chicken. Thier soda and ice from the self serve fountain was rather delightful. My rating my stay at 3 or go to 4, on future trips. Not sure when I will be back as there are so many great Chinese places around.

So I tried this place, twice for good measure to see how it compared to other Chinese spots nearby. Neither time I had that great of an experience. Friendly service, but it’s not the best looking location. Had orange chicken and mandarin chicken both times. They didn’t seem of the best quality compared to the other places you can hit nearby. Probably not worth your time.
