Tru Salon

I’ve had every service possible from Kristine – facials, manicure, pedicure, makeup application, waxing, stress relief treatment… she is amazing. I get a facial and waxing from her each month and she did my wedding nails and makeup. She is so great at her job, with great recommendations, and super friendly. Do yourself a favor and get in to see her.
I’ve had a variety of stylists cut my hair. It seems that each time I find one I like, she leaves or adjusts her hours. That being said, all of the cuts have been good and Molly did an awesome updo for my wedding.

Tru is a very nice salon. The atmosphere is pleasant. It’s always clean and they usually play calm/​relaxing/​upbeat music. The stylists are super professional. I’ve gotten many good haircuts there (and a few subpar cuts when my stylist wasn’t available).
My main complaint about the place is that once a stylist becomes high ranking enough or popular enough, their prices go up and their availability goes down. I have a ridiculously hard time getting in to see the stylist I’ve been seeing for 5+ years if I just call, so I’ve switched to scheduling in advance (which is harder for me, since my schedule varies).
They do good work, and in the end, that’s what counts.

I’ve left Tru twice for other salons, each time for the same reason: obvious and unappealing hierarchy in the salon’s organization. I get it that clients should pay more for more experienced stylists, but I don’t need to know the micro details of who ranks above whom, etc. Whenever my stylist wasn’t available, the scheduler would encourage me to switch to someone higher up the scale, insinuating that I wasn’t getting the best, etc.
Aside from finding all of this quite tacky and transparent, I also think they’re wrong in their assessment of skill. I have thick, curly hair and having a stylist with similar hair and a good handle on its quirks was far more important than getting yet another boring, straight-​hair cut by another interchangeable «senior» stylist. I liked my «low status» stylist — she’s why I went back after leaving the first time. When I recently learned that she’s left the salon, I was happy for her. She didn’t deserve to be put down to her own clients by salon management.
I know it’s Pittsford and people want to feel like they’re getting an «elite» experience. I live here, I get it. Tru will charge elite prices but offer an elitist environment.

A few weeks ago, before coming to tru, I visited a different salon that completely botched my highlights. They made them very stripey and brassy which made me so upset. On Monday morning, I called tru salon in Pittsford to see if they had any openings, explaining my situation. I had not been to tru prior, but instead read and relied on online posts from customers.
I absolutely love the location of this hair shop. It has a parking lot with many different shops and restaurants around (just incase you arrive early). At first, I was very hesitant and nervous, but after I entered, the receptionist was so warm and welcoming. She asked if I would like anything to drink and my appointment began exactly at 12 as promised. As I waited, I looked at all of their organized, aveda products! This salon is smaller than other salons I have been to, but very clean, organized and modern. I love the large mirror stations!
At 12 I worked with MOLLY who is absolutely AWESOME! She is young, pretty and most importantly — nice! I explained my situation with my highlights and showed her ideas of what I might want instead. She assured me she can fix my highlights with no problem and I put trust in her! We talked throughout the entire appointment. Molly was very interested in everything I had to say, and she even recommended me to a delicious icecream spot which i tried after my appt! I felt really comfortable working with her. Molly washed my hair and blew dry my hair so softly. She really has a lot of talent and I ended up with exactly what I wanted done! I feel 100% better and I am looking forward to booking another appt.
At the end of my appt, I met the owner (Julie) who was very vibrant and kind. All of the girls complimented me which made me feel really good! Lastly, the receptionist gave me a 20 dollar offer card to use towards a future service. I will def. be back!

I had such a great experience here. The ladies were so nice and welcoming, the girl that did my hair did a wonderful job with the highlights, cut, and style, and they even give hand massages while you wait. I’m from out of town, but will definitely make appointments for the next time I’m in town.

Went here for the first time recently after moving to the area, and got a haircut from Julie, the owner. I loved the cut, and Julie was so friendly. I’ve moved a LOT for work so I’ve tried out a lot of different salons in different cities, and this is one of the best. I’ll be back for sure!

Love the salon and everyone that works at tru but just can’t stand julie the owner. She’s very narcissistic, fake and all about her self. Love going can’t stand going and seeing her. She’s the only downfall.

I see Courtney and have been for about 3 years. She is wonderful, not only her personality but the way she cuts my hair. She is on point everytime, if I am going to change up my hairstyle or just a trim. Highly recommend her and Tru Salon itself. I can tell you Courtney does have a lot of clientele so if you are in need of a new hair stylist you’ll probably be on a wait list.

«Sure, my life isn’t perfect but my hair is…» thanks to Tru Salon. I’ve been going to Tru for almost 10 years. Today, I am a loyal customer and friend to Courtney; she never lets me down. Courtney is extremely talented in coloring and she always keeps my vision/​style a priority. The atmosphere at Tru is very relaxing and enjoyable. Everyone at the salon is extremely friendly, courteous, and skilled, not too mention the whole salon is scented by wonderful Aveda products. Often while I wait for my color to process, I smell the Chakra wall, get a free hand massage by one of the girls, and flip through a variety of popular magazines. I dread the day that I’ll have to leave Rochester and find a new salon; it just won’t compare to Tru.

I booked a facial with Christine due to some minor skin problems I was having. I have had a facial before, and it wasn’t something that stuck out to me. However, I wanted to give it a try again, and I went in hoping to relax and feel better in my skin.
My experience with Christine went above and beyond any expectations I had for my session. It was incredible. She explained everything to me, and addressed my body-​mind-​spirit instead of just the redness on my face. Which, by the way, saw incredible results. She explained to me how the layers of the skin work, why I was experiencing what I was, and formulated a plan for me to resolve it. I was blown away– and booked another session with her on the spot.
I also got my hair cut afterwards with Courtney. She was so nice and did a great job listening to exactly what I wanted and making it happen– and also checking in with me through the process to make sure I was getting what I wanted. I’ve had bad hair experiences in the past– but she made me feel better about getting it cut more often again. I booked with her again as well.
All in all, you cannot go wrong with this adorable salon & spa in the heart of the pittsford village right on the canal. It was a phenomenal experience for me. The confidence boost was so incredible and I cannot recommend these women enough.

I actually go to the Tru Salon on Park Ave. (same owner and company), and I always have the best experience. Gabriella has worked with me over the last couple of appointments to find the perfect hair color and style for me. All of the employees are so courteous and nice, I always look forward to my appointments. I highly recommend this salon!
