I called up on an early Saturday morning to get a tube replaced and the owner couldn’t have been more accommodating, friendly or professional. I will go through here for all of my future bike(or board) needs.

Pittsboro NC is a bicycle friendly community which has been, until recently, devoid of a local shop. Until May 2014, Pittsboro bicyclists were limited to shops in Chapel Hill, some 12 miles north of Pittsboro. I was really glad to see a small hand lettered sign out front of the Chatham Mills Co-op, pointing the way to Pittsboro Bicycles, located in a small workspace«around back» of the Co-op. Following the sign around the Chatham Mills building, I found Pittsboro Bicycles set in behind the building, across from some old storage barns. The shop is new, but well appointed, with a good number of high quality bicycles mounted in a very attractive and professional looking array. What looks to be a well stocked workshop is set up behind the counter as well. The proprietor, Eddie, is a Chapel Hill/Pittsboro local, having worked with bike shops in the area for some years. He is quite professional and personable, passing a quick ten minute chat while he touched up a few things on my bike(and showed me how to inflate my fancy-pants inner tubes, which I’d forgotten). I prefer to shop local whenever possible, and to benefit a local store owner even more. I was very impressed with the quality of service I received as well as the person from whom I received it. We need more stores like this in Pittsboro: locally owned, serving a local community, and providing a service which will benefit the community even more. Eddie’s manner and bearing reflected well on his shop and bodes well for future work I’ll have done here. He obviously knows his bicycles, and I was even pleased to see he’s conversant in unicycles as well. If you ride a bike or need work done on yours, bring it here. You won’t be sorry.
