Thai Basil has a large selection of vegetarian dishes which is perry for me! The vegetable tofu pad kee mao and yellow curry are delicious so I would definitely recommend them. The curry puffs and spring rolls are also really good appetizers to start off with. This is definitely my go-to place for Thai food!

My favorite Thai place for both takeout and eat in. The people that work there are so sweet and accommodating!!!

I frequent this place often for Thai takeout since it’s a short drive from work. They just remodeled the restaurant right before Christmas and it looks great, much more open and comfortable now. Typical Thai fare, I usually get the Thai Cashew, which comes with a healthy portion of pineapple, cashews, veggies and rice. Today I ordered the chicken but received shrimp. A bonus for me but good thing I love shrimp! Three stars because it’s good but not outstanding, and the prices are much higher than the far better Thai Kitchen of Bridgewater.

This was a restaurant I used to go to regularly up to two years. The management has changed recently so has the food. The menu is the same though some ingredients listed in the description the restaurant no longer has(i.e. new management has gotten rid of baby corn entirely, mushrooms are not just regular american button mushrooms, etc). The food is very bland. The brown sauce has a distinctly fish taste to it. For appetizer we got the Roti Shana which is literally one and a half tablespoons of curry sauce served with a 3″ wide paper thin piece of bread, this was the only thing that tasted fine but for $ 7 other sit down Thai restaurants would give at least four times as much. The atmosphere is still nice, the wait staff is still nice, prices are the same around $ 15 – 20 an entrée, food quality has plummeted.

A good option for quick service(we’ve done both sit-in and take-out) and tasty food in the Rutgers/Piscataway area. Great go-to and convenient place to get your Thai fix. Particularly of note were the Tom Yum soup and pad see ew which were rich and flavorful. Portion sizes are generous for the price. Also a fan of the Thai iced tea!

Nice ambience, friendly staff and v good food. We ordered Singapore noodles and vegetarian glass noodles. The food was out in a jiffy after we ordered and it was really nice. It is however a bit on the expensive side. But I am definitely going to come back to this place

The short: Good atmosphere for dinner with friends and family., decent prices, great taste. The long: I haven’t been here for a year. I’ve been back a few times recently and it looks as though the place has undergone a change in management. The décor is lighter, which brings a warmer ambiance which I like. It’s less tacky than pinky colour that was here previously. Our waitress was warm and wonderful. The prices are appropriate given we were in NJ and for the portions of food(I am from NYC). The taste was good. Not the strict authentic taste of Bangkok but the flavours of my tom yum shrimp soup and spicy basil chicken was great. I’d definitely recommend coming here.

Grossly overpriced, noodles are drenched with grease and oil.. I asked for rice noodles on their order L17 — Pad Kee Mao… they did not fulfill that request.. . gave me thai noodles.6 $ for thai spring rolls the size of quarters… Save your $$$, go elsewhere..

Ugh. Not even a huge Thai food fan but I know good Thai food when I taste it and I can tell you this place is NOT it. Ordered pad thai as take-out and although the service was prompt, the food was awful. I expected at least a little bit of a kick or strong flavor and it literally had no taste. I felt like I was eating plain noodles with a touch of peanut sauce. $ 12 wasted. :(

Haiku: For the average bite, Thai basil gets the job done. Location is great. But it is outdone By Four Seasons, up the street. For bigger portions, And lower prices, And flavor that can’t be beat… Drive up Stelton road But Thai basil has The ambiance you can’t get At the«Four seasons»

I came to Thai basil with a buddy of mine for dinner before meeting up with a bunch of people. I had heard good reviews from a few different people and decided I had to try it. The food was really good here, I tried the pad thai and the red curry, I would defiantly come back for it. The down side was the service. The place had about 5 tables seated and there was only who I assumed was the owner running around for tables. We got water when we sat down and never got any other drinks, it was so bad that I actually just walked in the back and got myself a pitcher of water and the guy never even realized. The food however did come out in a prompt time. Maybe a server called out last minute, but the food was good enough to warrant coming back, plus I don’t feel bashful helping myself to some water.

One of the worst and most overpriced thai restaurants I’ve ever been to. For starters, we had the roti shana which is bread with curry dipping sauce. What we got was bread that was smaller than the size of my hand with a small bowl of curry sauce for 7 bucks! What a complete ripoff. The whole plate didn’t seem like a big enough appetizer for 1 person. In addition, we had asked for the vegetarian version but they gave us the curry sauce with huge chunks of chicken in it. When we told them, they didn’t even try to apologize. The lady just whisked it away and gave us another one like nothing happened. The noodle dishes are all $ 11 and the curry dishes are all $ 13 which is more expensive than most other Thai restaurants here in NJ, or NYC for that matter. The vegetarian noodles dishes all came with very little vegetables and maybe 5 small pieces of tofu(is tofu really that expensive around here???). It’s a pet peeve of mine to get noodle dishes that contain 95% noodles and 5% vegetables/meat and then charge $ 11 for it on top of that. Also, on another note, the women who took our order kept asking us if we were ordering appetizers. I found that quite rude, since we already said once that we weren’t going to order any. The menu doesn’t offer that many thai dishes except for the usual pad thai, pad see ew, curry dishes, so I have a feeling it’s a restaurant mostly for those who are unfamiliar with Thai cuisine. This place may be a family-owned restaurant but there is a reason why it was mostly empty on a Saturday night. I wouldn’t be surprised if it went out of business soon.

Stopped here for a takeout lunch and was pleasantly surprised at the very nice interior. The pad kee mao was so good! Great portion size for a lunch price as well. I couldn’t even finish it(shocking because I’m ravenous during pregnancy) and it was well-seasoned.

Their food is really good. I have been going to this restaurant for a few years. Their pad Thai and Basil fried rice are amazing. On my last visit, we ordered the following . Appetizer: vegetarian Thai Spring Rolls– this was ok. Vegetable Tom Kha Soup– this was too bland for me but my mom liked it Main Entrée: Pineapple fried Rice(spicy) this was good Vegetarian Mango Curry(spicy) — this was amazing. The sweetness of the mango in the creamy spicy curry was out of this world. This is a must try on the menu. Dessert: We ordered Crème Brûlée. In the last, I really enjoyed this, but this time the texture was really weird. Drink: Thai iced tea– good as always

I came here for the first time with my friend. I must say, I had mixed feelings after my meal. I got the pad see you, which had chinese broccoli in it, my fav, as well as tum yum soup with shrimp. My friend got the crispy tamarind duck. The pad see you could use a bit more seasoning. The tum yum soup was tasty but was a bit on the mild side as opposed to the spicy tum yum soup I know and love. The tamarind duck was pretty good, a little sweet and tangy. The price for some of the dishes, however, were pretty expensive. It came out to be around 50 dollars for two people. The soup came in a little bowl with a few pieces meat in it, and it was priced at 5⁄6 dollars a bowl. Not very happy. Last but not least, the fried ice cream, which was about 6 dollars for 1 fried ice cream. They poured a bit of rum over the ice cream, and lit it on fire, which was cool. The breading on the outside was pretty decent, it didnt soak up the oil, which is a plus. However when you try to spoon into it, the breading falls off the ice cream beacause of how it’s wrapped. Overall this is a decent place if you want to try out thai food, but it’s not a place I would go regularly.

Not a bad meal, but plenty of other options. I won’t bother to return here. Food is average, I had the chefs special beef-1 of 3 on the spicy scale but had very little flavor, i added the chili sauce condiment. The service is very bad –one waitress for the entire restaurant, she is also the maitre’d. Regardless, there were 3 tables seated, and she emerged from the kitchen once every 20 minutes. Appetizer plates were taken in her schedule, regardless if we were finished or not. Dessert looked promising, but our check was written and left on the table before the entrees were gone.

Great for lunch. Went with my mom. Food came out fast which is great when you’re on lunch and don’t have a lot of time. We started with Thai rolls for appetizer. 6 small rolls. Yum! We couldn’t stop eating them. They came with a sweet orange sauce. She had pad Thai and thought it was a bit bland. I tasted it and thought so too; it just seemed that one ingredient might have been missing in the dish to give it umph. I had the ginger and scallion chicken with jasmine rice which was excellent. Portions were HUGE for lunch. We both ate half and have leftover lunch for tomorrow. Very good food, prices, local run family atmosphere. These people work hard and it shows. Agree with other posts about the décor, but that’s a secondary need for me. First is food and service so I give this place 4 stars.

Great service, even better food! Recommend: pad see you & pad kee mao Highly recommend: for something out of the ordinary(but still very tasty) I suggest Panang Curry and Thai Basil Fried Rice. Medium spicy was just perfect.
