This diner has its hit and misses. I find myself craving the matzo ball soup and you can’t go wrong with the cheeseburger deluxe. Recently I went for breakfast though and it was terrible. How do you mess up basic diner breakfast? The pork roll was not cooked properly, and the eggs were so runny.

They were open early on New Year’s Day – Yay! Typical diner breakfast fare at the standard quality. We got eggs, home fries, bacon(turkey for me), and pancakes. Large portions and cheap prices. The place is clean, the staff was welcoming, and the coffee was actually better than I was expecting. I looked over and noticed they grind fresh beans. Nice. We left satisfied and happy.

Having lived in NJ just about all of my life, I love good diners. I’ve been to plenty of diners and this is a terrible diner. Even though I saw the reviews beforehand, I figured we would give it a try. We went there as I was visiting my son at Rutgers and they are not far from Busch Campus. Good: — The hostess was friendly — Breakfast served all day — I had an onion and pepper omelette. It was good Bad: — The waiter was cold and impersonal. Acted like we were bothering him — My son had a corned beef sandwich. The corned beef was microwaved and looked and tasted completely dried out. Not fresh at all. The correct way to heat up corned beef is in a steamer — The interior of the restaurant looked very old. Management was not putting any money into maintenance. For example, the ceiling in the men’s bathroom was old and rooted and had several tiles missing — I really despite restaurants that have paper handmade signs all over barking instructions to their customers. There were signs everywhere including«Do not lean on the mirrors(in the dinning room)»

Rice pudding is amazing also the spinach pie. But mashed pots stuffed cabbage stuffing garden salad are all not fresh and tasted kind of sour. Wish I could give this classic diner a better review but honestly I suggest staying away.

I’m surprised the ratings for this diner are so low, but it seems like a lot of the reviewers don’t have realistic expectations for a diner. The service is consistently good and prompt, the food is good and tastes fresh enough(I don’t expect them to be hand selecting items from the farmer’s market every morning), the meat hasn’t been overcooked, and the prices are reasonable. I often come here for an omelette or a late night snack. If you’re looking for«organic» or «all natural», fanciful servers, picture worthy décor, etc. then filter your results for«$$$» or «$$$$.» This is a diner, not a five star restaurant.

This is one of the few local NJ diners that actually has«diner food» at «diner prices». Well what do I mean by that? If you are getting a 20 dollar plate of shrimp you are at a seafood place. If you are paying more than 10 dollars for a burger you best be at a trendy gourmette burger place. This place is neither. To me diner food is about getting a big old omelette stuffed full of cheese with a pile of home made home fries. Diner food is about getting a big meaty club sandwich topped with layers of crispy bacon and sand extra crispy fries. It’s about paying ~10 bucks for a meal and leaving with a feeling of being pleasantly stuffed for days. On this front Fountainbleau Diner delvers. The food is tasty and plentiful. It’s not fancy by any means, but it is hearty, filling, and priced right. That’s what a diner is all about. The lunch special is a great steal too. For 8 bucks you can get an omelette or and sandwich, soup or fruit and a drink. What’s not to like? Ok, it’s a little tricky getting into the lot if you are coming from the Piscataway direction. There is kind of a dead man’s turn to get across the road… but I digress.

This was the worst dining experience of my life. My dad and I went in for a late lunch at 4 pm after bicycling for 3 hours. We were starving! So wouldn’t you think anything we ordered would taste great? Not quite so… I ordered the chicken penne and my dad got some baked fish platter. We got 2 room temperature soups with our items and they were basically smelling of freezer burn. The cream of broccoli was so disgusting. It was pasty, floury, and salty. The vegetables that came with the fish platter were basically packaged frozen corn and peas, zapped in the microwave for a few minutes. What’s worse, we both had bad diarrhea for the next 3 days. Trust me, please don’t go here.

I was here for breakfast 2 years ago. Service was worse than horrible, and I was the only customer. I stood up for 2 minutes after I was done eating before calling the waitress over and said I decided not to have a second cup of coffee. Today I stopped in again for breakfast. Service had improved slightly, but I asked for bacon, got sausage. Was done with my eggs before the bacon came out. 2 strikes and you are out.

I liked this place. I’ve only been here twice(breakfast), but both times were very good. Quick and efficient service. Very clean interior. I thought the coffee here was great. Pork roll could have been hotter, but was pretty good quality. Great pancakes.

Fountainbleau resonates a somewhat«French-esque» sort of feel, doesn’t it? Where you may perhaps encounter fresh Parisian baguettes, men in berets, and buttery croissants made by a small town baker from France. Say goodbye to that dream my friends, for you have entered the diner dive straight from 1991 New Jersey. Frozen spinach and vegetables for your omelettes, sad sad plain burger with government issued sliced cheese, gray suspect coleslaw, and a pickle that looked wilted and depressed. It’s just basic. Nothing special here. It’s not the worst, but if I wanted basic, I’d boil an egg at home and forget seasoning and flavor.

To be fair, it’s been many years since I went to this bizarrely spelled diner, but I remember the staff being incredibly unfriendly(why are so many diners run by such jerks? There are jobs that don’t involve working directly with the public, people). Fontainebleu? Fountaineblue? Whatever pretention they had in mind when they were trying to come up with a foofy name for this place was an utter fail. The food was in general poor, but what always stands out in my mind whenever I even think about that whole neighborhood was the last thing I ever ate there… a muffin that was SO dry I could have dried my whole car with it. It was like it had been sitting in a freeze drying chamber for a month. How they had the nerve to serve it and call it «food» is beyond me. I vowed then I would never again let anything from that establishment pass these lips. Was going to give 2 stars, but when I read they refused a service dog, that was the nail in the coffin. This place should be shut down. Fountain blue? The closest it comes to that name is blue Tid-y-bowl.

First time visiting. The lunch specials are good deals and portion sizes are large. The chicken noodle soup was big on pasta and veggies minimal meat. The seafood bisque had not seafood flavor as the flour taste was overwhelming. The gyros were very good the meat was moist and the tzaIki sauce was good. Overall an average visit. Service was fast and friendly.

Been here twice and had an average experience each time. Stopped in last night after a long day of helping my brother move. I was starvvvving. Got some delish roast beef and mashed potatoes. The dinner platters come with a soup, soda, salad, side and dessert. I left with more food than I ate I think. One beef is that the unsweetened ice tea is not homemade it’s brisk so really just some chemicals. Not cool.

Skip this place, as there are better diners in the area. My grilled cheese was likely the worst I’ve ever had, the French fries were mushy and flavorless and the service was horrible. The waiter was completely unattentive, never asked if I wanted more coffee or if my meal was ok. He literally just dropped my sandwich down. It also room forever to get my bill, which is not helpful when on a short lunch break.

Honestly will not eat here again. I ordered a souvlaki wrap but chicken was very dry and had no flavor. Becareful with extra charges such as $ 2.00 for a slice of cheese. Waitress failed to mention but gladly added misc. charges to our bill. Told the owner but didn’t seem to care. Café Bua down the street is way better.

I recently came back to one of my old standby diners when I was in town for a softball tournament. Growing up in Piscataway we came here a lot when I was a kid. But back in the 80s and early 90s I spent MANY evenings here(Back when it was called Blue Fountain Diner) in high school and post high school trying one last time to hook up, but more importantly to feed the need after the parties let out. It’s been renovated over the years and it just isn’t the same place(thus the new name). The food here was pretty good as a kid and our meal here was fine when we stopped in recently. Since we were reliving old memories we went old school and all picked off each others’ plates. I had a bacon cheeseburger with French onion soup, someone else ordered a pork roll and cheese sandwich, we had disco fries, pancakes, and a reuben. It brought back memories. The food was actually pretty good, but when you have things built up in your memory it’s hard to match up the tastes after 20+ years. My cheeseburger tasted fine, but it was overdone and the bacon wasn’t done enough. The pork roll sandwich was as good as ever as were the disco fries(can you go wrong with well done fries, gravy and melted mozzarella???) The pancakes and reuben were good, but didn’t knock me off my feet. Desserts were simply ok. A couple slices of pie and a piece of chocolate cake… wasn’t bad, wasn’t like Grandma’s. Overall, a pretty good NJ diner… unfortunately it didn’t live up to my memories. Service was slow, food was good, prices were very reasonable, place was spotless, but very empty. Probably 3.5 stars, but not enough to round up to four.
