We RU people have the best & newest diners haha! Student servers and rest of the employees are very friendly. Most of the foods are decently cooked with big portions.

Awesome diner with awesome food on the Livingston campus of Rutgers. It’s a fun place to hang out with friends. I ordered the chicken francaise with mashed potato and asparagus. I thought the chicken was a bit bland. The gravy was delicious. The mashed potato was seasoned well and the asparagus had the perfect crunch. The serving size is standard and good quantity.

I came here once. The place is definitely a Jersey Diner. Props to that. The smell is quite attractive. Its location is very very easy for non-Jersey-residents to try a traditional Jersey diner. I had a burger plus the fries. The prices are quite fair and«market value». The quality of the burger is not bad. It’s definitely better than places like BK/McDonalds and few burgers match it. the meat was finely cooked and the vegetables were fine. The bread was a little stale, more like a little old. Don’t take my word for it since I would eat all sorts of bread. The fries came plentifully for a $ 8 meal. It could require some more cooking since i had 1 – 2 that were raw but its no big deal. The only thing i recommend: go a little less on the salt sli. Overall, 9.2÷10. Definitely recommend. As a fellow rutgers student, I will recommend and please tip well.

It’s not the best diner ever but definitely recommend if your on Livi at Rutgers! Their breakfast is awesome, I always get the spinach, feta, and turkey bacon omelette with extra crispy hashbrowns and they never let me down. Their lunch/dinner is pretty average otherwise.

I’ve always LOVED my experiences at Henry’s diner. Their grilled cheese sandwiches are ONPOINT. I hadn’t been to Henry’s Diner in while since I moved to the College Ave Campus. I just went there last night and it was even better than I remembered. Many people have the misconception that Henry’s diner is just Rutgers dining hall quality food that’s for sale. They’re totally wrong! I had the Brie & Cranberry grilled cheese, which comes on amazing soft Texas Toast. The side of fries were surprisingly amazing. I could have eaten a whole plate of them myself. You can even build your own pasta at Henry’s. My boyfriend ordered fettuccine with vodka & mushrooms, which was also SO good. Most diners are almost always dirty and gloomy, but not Henry’s! Henry’s is super bright and clean, which makes it a great place to hangout with friends. Henry’s is open until 12 on weekdays but only 8:30pm on the weekends, which I completely don’t understand. They’d be flooded with drunk college students all night long if they extended their hours on the weekends. I really hope they make that change in the future!

Love this place! Prices, quality, and taste are all authentically diner-esque. Great alternative to dining hall food. Would be even better if meal swipes were accepted!

Henry’s is an alright diner. Not bad but not great, just alright. The food is decent, some things better than others. I’ve heard their milkshakes and chicken parm(I wouldn’t necessarily eat the two together haha) are really good, but I wasn’t a fan of their omelettes or home fries and their breakfast sandwiches gross me out like the one in the picture. I guess the food is either hit or miss depending on what you order. The service is also just okay. The hours aren’t the best either. I feel like they open too late and close too early. I get that a lot of the employees are students, but then what was the point of building a diner on campus? But the price is something you can’t beat. Great prices for the amount that you get — no one can complain about that. The menus are really cute too!

Breakfast review! Had a coffee and a western omelette. Eggs were light and fluffy and everything was fresh. Those hash browns though… Tasted like a wet noodle. C’mon now? How can you mess up hash browns. Other than that food & service was great.

Last time we dined here we had an overall good experience. We tried about ten things on the menu the four times we visited. The only food complaint was when we ordered the disco fries but never received it. And then when we finally did, it was not what we expected since it was just plain French fries with gravy and seasoning on top. A dish that I liked were the waffles with fruit because it was colorful, vibrant and tasty. The prices overall are okay, no complaints, especially since we were college students at the time. The location is good, in Livingston Plaza. The biggest critique would be the long wait for the food to be prepared. I think the longest we waited for our food to arrive was 45 minutes, which is not convenient for students(or even professors, faculty and staff) who are always on the run and have a million things going on in their schedules.

One of the few underrated establishments at Rutgers is Henry’s Diner. I’ve had nothing but positive experiences at Henry’s after 4 – 5 visits. Even though it is mostly student staffed, I have found the workers to be quite dedicated and not at all the prototypical lazy college student. I have had this one waitress a couple of times, who is a rockstar. I wish I could remember her name but she’s a friendly, short asian girl who deserves a raise! The food is typically quite good. When dining hall food gets erratic or boring, it’s a nice way to mix things up. While Livi now has more options than before, Henry’s is unique, featuring a very adorable ambiance, long hours of operation, and large portions. Only drawback I can think of is that it can’t quite reach the level of a classic 24/7, «in the city» diner that I’ve been spoiled enough to frequent. Overall, a very solid place for a college campus.

Stopped by here Monday afternoon for a quick lunch and was pleasantly surprised. I ordered the Brie and cranberry grilled cheese which was an interesting combination that worked. Ordered a chocolate coconut milkshake on the side which was definitely the highlight of the meal. The milkshake was thick(as it should be) and had chocolate chip and coconut pieces perfectly blended in, not to mention it was large! The menu here is extensive, portions were big, and prices are reasonable. Given that this is located on a college campus I would expect nothing less. Definitely a great spot to hang out with some friends and grab a quick bite.

Pretty good food. Lots of options and pretty substantial portions. I haven’t had the breakfast options, but I’ve heard they’re good. I’ve had the wraps a few times and they were pretty good. Fresh mozzarella and good meats in it. The fries were meh. I’ve had better, but I’ve also had worse. The fried veggie appetizer was awesome, although really unhealthy. It was a small establishment and can get busy at certain times. Especially right before a game since it is right by one of the arenas. Overall it was a good diner and I will definitely be back.

Very good service here. They are so nice and so willing to help. Our waitress was very attentive. Also the food was delicious! Big portions but that’s good since you’ll have food for another time! The menus are super cool since they are in the layout of a newspaper. I have to go back to try their dessert. Apparently they are super good! Can’t wait to go back!

Quite surprised to see the low rating on Henry’s. FOOD: Everything I’ve ever ordered has been pretty good, particularly by diner standards. Their chicken noodle soup is made in-house, with GRILLED chicken, loaded with fresh carrots and celery, and a ton of herbs. Epicurean Scrambler are all winners, great salads, gyros, and yummy multi-grain toast. AMBIANCE: Clever motifs with the newspaper menus and retro diner with historical Rutgers photography. Very clean and new. SERVICE: The main thing I will penalize for is the service. Because it’s inconsistent. Sometimes I’ll get a rock star like today, and others I’ll get a nincompoop. And for some strange reason it has always been an ordeal when it’s time to pay. The cash change had been calculated manually on a calculator, the credit card swipe was a 13-step process, or splitting a bill took 4 scientists to accomplish. But it’s local, it’s solid, it’s quality food(fresh vegetables, cage-free eggs, etc.). Oh Henry, I’ll see you again soon.

Because I work on Livingston Campus, this is my go-to lunch spot. Of course, you can never expect too much from on-campus food, but this is by far the best place to eat on Livi. Let’s think of the options: student center food– NO! hoja– HELLNO! qdoba– you can get sick of it. Starbucks &16 Handles– Yes, for coffee, snacks, and froyo. But if you want an actual meal and don’t feel like traveling, come to Henry’s. Style– I absolutely adore the newspaper style menu. Well-crafted. It even has green circles for Veggie options and Pink circles for«awesome.» The booths are a cozy diner feel with a modern touch. The lighting is perfect in the daytime. Menu– Food– Portion size is excellent for the price. You can’t get better on campus. Their breakfast options are great. They even have well-made eggs benedicts and dishes with lox. I enjoyed their crepes as well. Their panini sandwiches and wraps are great too. For a healthier option, I am a huge fan of the grilled vegetable wrap– it doesn’t skim out on ingredients. Ask for a side of basil pesto sauce with it: really great. Their sweet potato fries are the best I’ve tasted around NB area. Definitely replace the regular fries with them. Everything you order is pretty damn fresh– don’t be afraid to order seafood and medium rare beef on burgers. If you order an entrée like a pasta dish, be prepared for a huge plate. Same with their salads: humongous! :) Pricing– You really can’t beat their pricing on-campus. The student center will charge you the same price for much less, and worse quality food. Show a Rutgers ID to avoid paying tax. Don’t forget to bring your check to pay up front, because they won’t let you pay at the table.

We stopped in for a quick bite just before graduation ceremonies began. I had been on campus several times but Henry’s was never open when we were there. Alas our last visit to campus and we struck gold. Our server Joe was attentive and thorough. The restaurant is spotless and beautifully decorated. The menu is adorable, it actually looks like a newspaper. There is a huge variety and the food is very good, not to mention the portions are very generous. Some had pasta, where you created your own padre meal by picking the pasta type, sauce and add ins, others had breakfast and no one was disappointed. A nice break from traditional campus food. A terrific addition to the Livingston Campus.
