Demills Family Restaurant

This is the first time I have written a Unilocal review… I want to respond about the complaints about the owner… I have been a long time customer of demills. And while the owner ship has changed several times. The past owners were the best… I have had the same waitress for years and never failed to recognize me even when I missed a year of going there.
Once this new owner came in I found myself going less… He is very loud and has no problem just sitting down with a familiar customer and talk non stop. VERY LOUDLY… He has ruined more than one breakfast of mine… Please past owners. Buy it back!!!

In response, I have since visited the restaurant myself and found the wait staff very pleasant but the manager very unsettling. The food was good but I was only there to pay tips to the waitresses.

Demills is my favorite neighborhood restaurant, The pizza is great and the burgers are delicious. They have free delivery and coupons on there website. Prices are decent and the owner is very friendly when he make deliveries.

Horrible customer service! They mess up an order and refuse to fix it or refund money. Cuss you out for trying to get order corrected. The food is horrible! Avoid this place at all costs! And if you have any food allergies, they will flat out tell you they don’t care and to «eat around it».

The food and service were both really good. Our waitress older gal was a sweetheart and back up servers are awesome filling drinks and clearing table. The soup was homemade delicious and both meals were good. We will be back.

We really wanted to like this place. We have been searching for a diner that has a large menu and never disappoints. Demill’s is not that place. Their macaroni & cheese is out of a box and costs an astonishing $ 4. The eggplant parmesan is frozen as well as their spinach pie. The soup of the day was a vegetable soup, but it tasted as if it was from a can. I can understand if we were underwhelmed by one of our orders, but everything we ate was disappointing. To be fair, we did not try their breakfast or pizza, which appear to be their specialties. Our waitress was very nice, but she deserves to work someplace that serves quality food. She’s the only reason for the extra star on this review. This restaurant needs a menu and décor makeover, either from a reality show or just their own gumption.

Dropped in yesterday afternoon, only one other customer talking to the owner I assume. Asked if they were open and he said yeah, until eight tonight. Apparently the late afternoon is the usual dead zone for most eateries.
Was immediately attended by a friendly grandmotherly type, the owner’s mama?
Coffee please, which was reloaded four times. Do you need a minute? Yes. I’ll have the Cuban sandwich with cole slaw. You want the special that includes french fries? OK.
You want ketchup, mayonnaise or mustard? Mustard. She brings bottles of both spicy and regular mustard plus ketchup.
A few minutes later an authentic pressed Cuban arrives. Amazing since they are not Cuban. Delicious. Generous with their fries and slaw. I was stuffed and well caffeinated when leaving.
Had not been here for years, and they haven’t changed a bit. They have endured on busy Park Boulevard for decades, a corridor that is loaded with all kinds of restaurants along several miles, so their family restaurant recipe with a slight country feel is a winner. A lot of wood paneling inside and out is inviting.

DeMills has a great breakfast menu with consistent friendly service. Every chance I am in town, I make the trip over for a great omelette. I enjoy the option of making your own omelette. Heading there now!!!

So we were vacationing in Tampa in December, and were out and about looking for a place to have lunch. We sort of stumbled across Demill’s and decided to try it, despite the lack of current reviews on Unilocal.Boy were we glad we tried it! The place is definitely dive-​y but the food and service more than make up for that. We walked in and were seated right away by friendly waitresses. The other patrons there were talking to the waitresses like old friends, so they definitely have a regular customer base. The waitress (Pat) recommended the pancakes, which were excellent. Everything we had (breakfast food) was available customized, any way we wanted it. The prices were great too.
Two days later, we decided to come back, since the restaurant was on our way to the airport. The waitresses remembered us, remembered our drinks, and remembered what table we sat at. I was just really impressed with how truly friendly everyone was.

So I was having a hitch installed at Hitch World and it was going to take a while. I was hungry and this place was close by. When I see «Family Restaurant» I immediately think «home cooked» so I had high hopes.
The menu is pretty extensive. I came for breakfast but they also have pizza, burgers, sandwiches, and all sorts of dinners. You would be hard pressed to not find something to like.
The food was awesome. I took pics. The pancakes were nice and they have corn beef hash. Everything has a «home made» look and feel and taste. And from a home where they know how to cook by the way.
Service was extremely friendly and attentive. The prices were very low. Great food, great service, low prices. This is as good as it gets. If you are craving some home cooking, give this place a try.
