I was a little stunned 8−16−15 when I went to Oaks and found a note on the door of the building that read something like«Max and Erma’s is Closed. .. We have enjoyed serving you for 11 years.» After reading some of the reviews below, now I know why, perhaps. The combination of that and more nearby competition now is probably what did them in. But their burgers and cookies were scrumptious while we could get them.

Nachos were really good. Wish the lighting was a little better, if facing a door or window the outside is bright(during day) and dark inside. The amaretto sour was amazing, order this during happy hour. Burgers are 4 stars. Service was good. Restaurant was clean. I will return.

I first went to max and Erma’s in Columbus Ohio. The atmosphere was ok and food good The restaurant in oaks is about the same Almost every time I go to the convention center I go there for dinner. There is usually a wait so the place is rather popular I’ve found the staff pleasant and attentive. The food is good not gourmet by any stretch of the imagination but good. I’ve never been disappointed. The onion rings were good. My wife had the cream of broccoli soup which was very good. Her hamburger was cooked to order and tasted great I had the shrimp salad and it was excellent plenty to eat. Drink are priced reasonable and tasty I’ve found this place to be consistent and one of the better chain restaurants

Passing thru town for a wedding, looked like a nice place. Food was good, nice atmosphere, but our waiter John was aweful, brought soup after meal was half eaten, totally forgot sauces for dipping till meal was done, and kept apoligizing that he forgot. And it was not busy…

Went here for the first time last night with my boyfriend… both of us ordered burgers… his was plain and I had the sunny side egg burger. It was served with a maple ketchup and fries… I also had the minestrone soup and a cookie for desert. Well the soup was good, very flavorful… the burger was huge juicy and so delish. …I could only eat half of it cause of how big it was… it was sweet and juicy… the cookie was fresh baked and one of the best I’ve had in a while. …we will definately be going back and I will recommend this place to everyone

Place was really good. A friend of mine said we had to stop here when we were over that way and I’m glad she did. I went with the 3-course combo they have(upgraded for $ 1 to get a a tortilla burger as well). Just in case you’re not familiar with the combo, it starts w/tortilla soup, then a burger which I upgraded to the tortilla burger, and ends with a cookie. I had a white chocolate macadamia nut cookie for dessert and it was very good for all things I ordered. Next time I’m in the area I will have to stop by again. Very tasty and the service was quick as well.

2 stars for the food and general atmosphere. When arriving we requested a booth not realizing all the seating was at booths during this lunch service. When my father said he couldn’t see the menu and asked the waiter for a booth with a brighter light he left to speak to the hostess instead of just showing us to a more suitable booth. I told the hostess why we wanted to move but she wanted to check with the server first. Geez, can’t anyone have any flexibility? Do I need to carry a flashlight in my purse? All young people. The waiter was the only one with customer service skills. The waitress was a sourpuss. The hostess noisily bussed the adjacent tables and banged things without care for the dining experience of other guests. Are there any grown-ups around?

Poor experience, won’t be returning. We decided to give this place a try since we are new to the area and have never been here before. The food was ok, nothing special but the service was lackluster, which is a major issue when that’s the supposed selling point of the place. We had to ask for simple things such as straws and napkins multiple times before it finally registered with our waitress. She also ignored us for awhile and we didn’t get refills even when putting our cups at the edge of the table. Can’t recommend this place.

This used to be one of our favorite spots. They change the menu and we usually would get the chicken or streak fajitas. I dont know what they did but they stink. They started using bottled pico loved the fresh pico. The banana cream pie is to die for!!!

Just ate here with pregnant wife. She got chicken pot pie and I got a burger combo that came with tortilla soup and a cookie. Burger was a bit undercooked when I asked for medium well and there was a shortage of ketchup for the fries which was strange. They also use an old school brioche bun that reminded me of the bread Wendy’s used to use when they offered a buffet years ago. Chicken pot pie had lots of tender chicken in it. The tortilla soup was great with a little spicy kick and the cookie was warm and excellent. I give it 3.75−4 stars. Server Jorge was nice and friendly. Better than going to Friendlys any day for the cookies.

Went on a busy night. The hostess at the front was not friendly. We were seated quicky. Lots of selections on the menu. Our server was a very nice lady, she paid attention to us and I have no complaints regarding her. Food was okay. Definitely do not go in expecting fancy 5-star restuarant food. It’s nice for a casual night out with friends. Dishes did not look that clean. Overall, it was alright.

Pleasantly surprised! I dined at tge bar during happy hour. $ 3 margaritas! I tried the fish tacos and the tilpia was seasoned nicely and came with fresh salsa. Jim was genuine and sweet. I was a little leery of this place but will definitely visit again when I’m back in the area.

It’s an E for Erma’s Three strikes! Restaurant: dirty(no wonder I read a recent review that one of the other guests got food poisoning) Food: they claim to have one of the best burgers I found it average to poor at best. Should have gone to Cheeburger cheeburger next-door or Wendy’s across the street. Service: slow and not friendly. I will not be going back here again anytime soon. I tried Unos last night(it’s located across the street in the new plaza). New. Bright. Clean. Great food. Wonderful service). It is a MUCH, MUCH better option. No comparison.

I’ve seen this place in different locations over the years and have always been mildly interested in it but not enough to actually try it. This wouldn’t have changed except that I was recently in the area to see a movie with a guy who grew up in Kentucky and wanted to go for nostalgia’s sake. He warned me that I wouldn’t be too impressed but my thinking going into a situation like this is that if it’s good, great! and if it’s bad, better! Because I may get a good story/yelp review out of it. I suppose the worst thing that could happen aside from gut crushing food poisoning or gas leak explosion, would be that the experience is «just alright» which is pretty much what it was. I’d place Max and Ermas above Denny’s but below other chains like Fridays and Applebee’s. Nothing exciting or worth noting on their menu as it’s the usual American chain fare. We weren’t here to really get a substantial meal and instead opted for a few apps. I had Potato skins and a wedge salad, my buddy the vegetarian ordered pretzel sticks and the cookies. Speaking of the cookies, that’s their gimmick. Hot cookies. It’s a good idea but not likely to impress this baker, who can get that everyday if I chose to. I still had to admit that they were good. In fact, the entire meal was good. I think we both enjoyed our meals much in the same way you’d enjoy sitting down and watching an episode if Gilligans Island. I had a hard time picking a rating for M&E. They certainly do mediocrity right. They take a 2star concept and do it 5star well so I’ll split the difference and give it 3stars. Even with M&E being mediocre, I still managed to squeeze a sizable review out of it, but I suspect you stopped reading a long time ago. I love you all. God Bless.

I found myself at the Oaks Convention Center with a friend and at her suggestion we went here for dinner… It’s pretty much in the same complex as the convention center. I had never heard of it before, but apparently it’s a chain. Who knew, well not me. We had a short wait for a table, but the hostess was spot on with the wait time. The menu is huge and the typical«novel-like» menu found at places like this. The fish tacos jumped out at me so when I saw them I stopped looking at the menu. But I did see salads, sandwiches, burgers etc. The appetizer selection was nice; we settled on the baked black bean roll ups which were tasty and a touch spicy. My fish tacos were huge — I didn’t come close to finishing my dinner. I have a toddler and the kids menu was really nice — thank you for having veggies or fruit as a choice of sides! Apparently this place is know for their cookies served warm from the oven. That evening they had a chocolate chip, a double chocolate and a macadamia nut. The cookies were huge and as promised were served warm. They were totally worth the calories. Our server was really sweet and attentive. As was the service in general. There was a wait between our appetizer and our entrees(but not one so long that we minded or even noticed) and both the server and the manager apologized for«the wait». While I wasn’t blown away with the food I also wasn’t disappointed. I wouldn’t go out of my way to come here, but would return if I’m in the area again. If not just for cookies and milk!

Thank you so much Max & Erma’s for the food poisoning. There is nothing better than flying across country for work and trying to adjust to the three hour time zone change while puking your guts out every hour starting at 3am. Your food completely undid the effort your servers put forth for a pleasant experience.

My Reuben was cold and whatever vinegar or additive was in the sauerkraut, literally dried my lips out so much they felt like they were on fire! Our server was some young Bieber-wannabe… Yeah… And the fried pickles tasted like weird chicken nugget hybrids. Not a fan. Will not be back. If it weren’t for the fact that EVERYWHEREISPACKEDONFRIDAYNIGHT, I would have never come here. I am currently listening to a table of 15 year old girls talking about snorting milk out of their nose at lunch and Facebook statuses. Oh and the weird goldfish hanging from the ceiling is just… weird. My fiancé said he came here for drinks a while back… I was shocked.

This review is for a to-go order. First, I was on hold for 4 minutes and spoke with three different people — transferred twice. Finally, I spoke to a bartender who took my order, asked my name, and told me the order would be ready in 15 – 20. About 25 minutes later, I parked in the(hard to find) to go spots, near a side door — which didn’t work. I had to walk around to the front, through the swarms of people, and find the bar.(Whew, this is a lot of work for dinner with an «easy» to-go service.) I told the bartender why I was there and proceeded to wait at least 5 minutes for my food. Once we got our food, it was sub-par to average. My medium rare burger was well done, the nachos were already soggy and sad, and my friend’s side salad was depressing. If it hadn’t been the only restaurant near Target, we’d have passed. And we’ll probably pass next time.
