Ahwatukee Primary Care

STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS OFFICE! They go through doctors like water! They state that you can trust them with your acute medical issues but they are NOT to be trusted. Once your doctor leaves this office no one will refill your prescriptions! And if you have an acute issue like I do, you have to go back and see another doctor even if it’s only been a couple of months since your last visit. Apparently there are no other qualified doctors in this office that can read your medical file to assist you. I’ve been with this office for years and refuse to be treated this poorly. If you value your health, don’t come to this office.

I was very hesitant to schedule an appointment with this office after reading all of the negative reviews. But I had to give it a try, because its only 1 minute walking distance away from my house. I am so glad I scheduled my appointment. Dr. Mary Rivera is great, she is very knowledgable and she answered all of my questions. The reason for my visit was to get my vaccinations before I could start my clinicals. She is great, very friendly and helped me a lot. The staff was very friendly as well and the wait time is no more than 15 minutes.

Let me just start by saying I used to LOVE this doctors office. And I LOVED Dr. MCCARTHY. she has since left the practice once they were taken over by East Valley Family medical, and I think I can see why. I went in yesterday for the first time since East Valley took over and had to fill out all the insurance forms again even though I’ve been coming here since 2011, and I had to call my insurance and chance my doctor since their front desk girl now does nothing… I had to wait 30 minutes past my appointment time even though I seemed to be the only person there and I decided to see dr. Deitzgen since I had seen her a few time in the past when my dr was unavailable. She seemed to be in a hurry and hardly even looked at me while typing things into her computer. She did a quick exam of me and called in a perscribtion to my pharmacy. Never told me what I had or anything and was out the door. I found out upon picking up my perscribtion that I’m receiving a treatment for strep throat and that I am highly contagious. Now I’m waiting for the call center to get in touch with the dr office so I can get a dr nite to go back to work. This will be my last visit with them. I want to add my disappointment in a place that I used to recommend to everyone.

Horrible. We were patients for years and after a break because we moved were coming back. I scheduled an appointment 3 weeks out and gave them my insurance information (avesis). When I arrived the woman at the front said they haven’t been taking the insurance since October. I told her I had driven 20+ miles and taken time off work and had given the person I had made my appointment with my insurance info. Her coworker suggested that they take me, try to bill it and eat the cost if it didn’t work because they booked it and it was their error. Btw, avesis still shows them as a provider. The woman didn’t like that, asked the doctor and said he would see me if I paid out of pocket and I could try to get it reimbursed later. No thank you. I will never be back. Horrible customer service. I could switch my insurance to go here but I won’t.

I’m not sure who is putting up these «awesome reviews» but they obviously were encouraged to or WHO KNOWS. I had been here on more than one occasion for the same problem and was very disappointed both times. The first time I came here I was quickly scanned over and rushed out, I can’t remember who the doctor was but she was middle aged and of possibly Hispanic descent. Her exact words as I was asking questions were «okay well I have other clients so we’re going to have to finish up.» I was pretty embarassed especially since I had waited SO long for her and had only spent about 5 MINUTES talking to her. She prescribed me a medication without explaining any side effects and I was repeatedly sick so I was forced to stop. NEXT visit I had only come back because this office is close to my house and I was on a strict schedule for work. I came in, and they had me fill out the SAME paperwork again because of some new company, I have no idea. They rushed me from the lobby to a room, back to the lobby, and back to the room again. I had my purse on Dr. D.‘s desk as I situated myself and she told me to get my purse off of her desk as she swept in. *YEE-​OUCH*, who put the kitty litter in her granola? Dr. D came in with a student who looked me over instead of her. Dr. D never looked at me, never shook my hand and just told me I had an infection and she sent CVS a prescription for me… then she left. True story. She never told me side effects either OR whether it was okay to take it with another minor prescription I had. Unilocal,you really let me down on this one. I’m new to the area and just needed a doctor for my problem. Dr. D… you might want to retire.
P. S. You can’t even call the office and speak with someone, you have to ALWAYS go through a call center and the office calls you back? Is that new? Because it’s terrible. PLEASE DONT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE I DID!

This is not a medical facility if you are looking for long term management of your health. I can’t even say they are very reactive to any issues. Instead, you will find that you wait in the lobby for much longer than you are treated. Average wait time for me over the course of two years was about 20 – 30 minutes past the appointment time. Average time waiting in personal room, another 15 minutes. Average time speaking with «doctor» or nurse practitioner 10 minutes.
30 minutes of waiting and 10 minutes of service. The final straw was being charged 84 dollars to wait 30 minutes (the average) and then 2 minutes to pick up a prescription refill.
While many others may have had a better experience, I can not stand for the services and treatment received. Don’t keep going to this place if you hate it. YOU HAVE OPTIONS!

This is the worst care I have received. I was very sick and losing weight rapidly and I saw Michelle Barnett, NP for two appointments. She prescribed me several prescriptions without refills. Additionally I saw the other NP for an appointment that was a complete waste of my time as she was not able to help my situation at all. When I ran low on my prescription my pharmacy sent a refill request. It was not honored. I called Ahwatukee Primary Care and they informed me they do not refill prescriptions with a refill request fax and I would need to come in to see another doctor because Michelle Barnett left the practice. I am very sick without my prescription, but they did not bother to tell me she had left and my prescription remains un-​filled. They were not compassionate about me being out of my medication. They didn’t have any appointments that work for me (they close early and I do not have childcare), so I am going to another doctor at another practice close by that was able to get me in at an appointment that worked today. I will not return to this practice.

Please stay away!
I went for the first time to Ahwatukee Primary care last week and they put me on antibiotics. I wasn’t comfortable taking it coz I am feeding my baby and I didn’t feel like I had an infection. They said based on the urine analysis, they will change my meds or will advice in 3 days. I called them every day after the 3^rd day and was told, they are still waiting for my results.
Today is my 8^th day after the test and when I called, they say they don’t see anything was sent to the lab and they are still discussing!!! My antibiotic course for 7 days is already over and I will never step here again!

It took me less time to draw blood than to draw tears because I did not have an appointment.
Excellent facilities.
The interaction with patients is quick and professional.

This is the first medical practice I ever felt writing about. The waiting room is warm and comfortable, the staff is friendly, and most importantly, the doctors are great. I have been seeing Patricia Dietzgen for about 3 years now. She is a no nonsense gal. Both her and her husband look you in the eye and have a conversation with you. They call you by name, and make a point of familiarize themselves with you. I just had some back issues and Mark Dietzgen did acupuncture on me. Hobbled in, and walked out. It was great. Everything about this practice is nice. You could compare them to old fashion service with the modern technology to be efficient.

I highly recommend Ahwatukee Primary Care, even though doing so may make it harder for me to schedule an appointment there!
Dr. Patricia Dietzgen really listens to your concerns and works with you to find the best plan for your care.
Dr. Dietzgen always takes the time to know her patients and remembers them. This is not always the case nowadays, when many practices use P.A.s and you rarely (if ever) see the actual doctor.
She also recommends only the best, most thorough specialists outside her practice so you can be sure you are getting the kind of attention your situation requires.
Her husband, Dr. Mark DIetzgen, is a Naturopath and also works in the office.

I have been a patient for over seven years and Dr. Pat Dietzgen is the best doctor I’ve ever had. Her and her staff are always comforting and caring and I can usually get an appointment right away when I’m sick. Her husband, Dr. Mark Dietzgen has helped me with acupuncture treatments and supplements. I would highly recommend their practice to anyone seeking a primary care doctor.

I have been a patient of Dr Pat Dietzgen for many years. She takes great care of both myself and my 4 children. I feel that she listens to my concerns and also offers good suggestions. Nice little practice with friendly staff. Their new office is very nice. The waiting room has a calming effect because of all the tile and plants. They don’t do their own blood work but there but there is a Sonoran Quest lab in the same office complex.
