The catfish was fresh and hot, hot and fresh. It is fried well, crunchy, hard. Some people don’t like that. Oh well. I love it. The beans are not baked beans, but pinto beans. They are good, I add seasoning to them. The hush puppies are good. They have a good receive. The peach cobbler is ok. I have to add butter and sugar. I am from the south and sugary desserts is just normal. So the peach cobbler might not NEED any fixing up from your perspective. Oh well again.

Went here for lunch with the hubby after a morning of doctors appointments and such. They have an all you can eat lunch buffet and the hubster likes a challenge so we went with that. They had fried catfish, hush puppies, fried some other type of fish, fried okra, fried gizzards and onion rings on the buffet. Hubby loved the gizzards, said they were some of the most tender he’s had. I didn’t love anything they had out. The closest thing to like was the onion rings. The Mac and cheese tasted watery, the green beans were cold and flavorless. The catfish had this hard breading with zero flavor. Hubby was happy with the gizzards and the banana pudding and yes he too liked the onion rings. I’m torn between giving 2 stars and 4 stars because you get a lot for the price($ 13.99) and it wasn’t just terrible, it’s just nothing special.

If I could give 4.5 stars I would. I’ve been coming here for about ten years and it’s great. I love the fried chicken, but my favorite thing is the onion rings. Good fries, good gravy. Can’t speak for much else because I always get the same thing. The staff is always pleasant, but I’m usually not blown away by the service. The décor isn’t fancy. It’s a bit like Cracker Barrel in that all the walls are covered in antiques. Somehow it feels a little less spick-and-span, though I’ve never noticed anything being dirty or dusty; I think it’s just the way the genuine antiques are worn and how the building is a little shabby.

Cute place. Waitresses are great. Each time I’ve been here I get fast and very friendly service. Food is a bit greasy and low quality but it’s priced accordingly. They have a buffet if you are in a hurry. It has a pretty good salad bar. You can see from the photo that it has a casual Texas décor. They play good music over a cheap sound system but overall there is a kind of laid back comfortable vibe.

Very good home cooking comfort food. Enchiladas, catfish, chicken fried steak with great sides. Very much like your grandma’s house.

Ayer passing several times I decided to do. Ordered fish and shrimp dinner. Fish was ok. Shrimp wasn’t what I expected and I didn’t care for the fries. Had a side salad, but they don’t have croutons. Service was slow even though it wasn’t a lot of people there. Price was good considering that is seafood, but just not what I wanted or expected. Doubt I’d go again.

This restaurant has been in Pflugerville for over 30 years, and is still the best family owned place in town. Their catfish and shrimp have always been great, and is the standard to which I compare any other catfish places. I’m not a big fan of the lunch buffet — it’s a buffet, so the usually great sides just don’t seem as fresh as if you order a dinner plate. The buffet does occasionally have off the menu items like enchiladas and chicken & dumplings, which taste good, making me wonder how great they’d be if they were on the regular menu. But it’s a catfish place, so order the catfish!

I love coming here! No matter the time of day the food is always good! I always have the hardest time picking what I want to eat here because everything is so good! The staff is always nice and helpful!

Great atmosphere and friendly staff but the buffet is only fair. Catfish, fried Okra and onion rings were good but selection on other items was slim so the price compared to the offerings was not a good value. Banana pudding tasted overly artificial and was the only dessert.

Walking in, all I could smell was cleaning chemical. It could be worse, but so not appetizing. The upsides: Tasty sweet tea and friendly service. For $ 35 we got: — a basket of hush puppies(from the freezer) — chicken fried steak(salty, ashy) — fried okra(decent) — mashed potatoes covered in white gravy(neither was fresh) — chicken fried chicken(he says Delicious) — French fries(cold, smooshy, flavorless) — a glass of sweet tea(Very sweet, but tasty) Everything except the entrees is served in/on Styrofoam, and comes out feeling limp like its been waiting on a counter. It seems like a lot of food when listed like this, but everything was left on the plate, minus the chicken. We will not be returning.

Very nice place. Enjoy the country scenery. Came and got the catfish basket. The fish was still moist and easy to chew versus other places I’ve been. Then you have the standard fries which are like any other fries.

Great, cheap prices and greasy food. It is truly home cooking at its finest. If you are in need of some comfort food, this is the spot. Their fried catfish is divine! The ranch dressing is delectable and their fried okra is spot on. The décor makes you feel like you’re at home and there’s plenty of space for big groups!

I had the buffet. It was loaded with perfectly cooked fried catfish, chicken strips, popcorn shrimp and baked cod. Accompanying everything was green beans, Mac and cheese, sweet corn, rolls and much more. I highly recommend this restaurant. A Pflugerville staple.

The reason for the 2 star rating is not because of the food good price for what you get. But the DUST is overwhelming and the restaurant is NOT clean. I was really surprised that the food permit posted at the front expired Feb 252015 and the owner has not posted the new one. They have a please wait to be seated sign so that’s what we did good that a guy that came in after us who was picking up an order to go let the ladies know we had been standing up front for a while, the three ladies where talking and standing around not paying any attention to who came in the restaurant the booth has food in between the sides and it looks like it’s been their for a while the lady at the drink area needs to put on gloves when handling the ice and lemons she walked from behind the area and came back but never washed her hands. So if you don’t mine a not so clean restaurant this is the one.

Everything is nice and crispy with good taste(especially the chicken fingers). They have a lunch Buffett between 11 – 2 pm for $ 11.99(includes a drink w/refills) with all your favorite sides. Expect the fish to be a little chewy — that’s normal because it’s catfish. Good tea and for dessert they have Banana pudding. Ambiance is friendly with country feel. Will be coming back again.

The Community Impact magazine had a buy one chicken fried steak dinner and get a second free, so we tried it out. I can safely say that both chicken fried’s were the chewiest we’ve ever had anywhere. My wife tried two bites of hers and finally gave up and just ate fries, which were good, the side salad that came with it was decent too. I ate mine, I like a little chew but these were ridiculous, i could have made a pair of work boots out of them.

Probably wouldn’t have chosen it, but that’s where the girls voted to eat. Used to eat there many years ago. The décor is exactly like it was back then. And not in a good way. The foyer gives off a terrible first impression with its peeling wallpaper and ’70’s cutesy country vibe. The rest off the place makes me feel kinda dusty. Besides that, I was pleasantly surprised at the food. The catfish plate was quite good. Three decent fillets(tasty), beans(pretty good), coleslaw(I dunno, I hate coleslaw), fries(hot and fresh), and hush puppies(the star of the meal!). Not bad for $ 8.95. Service was okay. I did deduct stars when I saw the barkeep putting ice into glasses with bare hands. Eww. Needs some deep cleaning and I TOTALLY agree with other reviewers about the horrid Styrofoam plates and cups. Get rid of them!

I don’t know why this place only has 3 stars. It was great! We got the regular fried catfish dinner… When they say 5 fish filets they weren’t joking. Big full half size filets. I could have shared it. They were fried to perfection! The hush puppies were nice and crispy on outside, soft in middle. And usually I ignore fries on catfish basket, but I wish I had tried them before I was full! They were so good!!! So don’t let the 3 stars fool ya…

A mixed bag at best. First, the two good things — the fried shrimp and the hush puppies were both good. Everything else? Meh at best. The onion rings had a good batter, but it didn’t stick to the onions, leaving you with clumps of batter and pieces of sorta-cooked onions. My steak fingers were average, but Dairy Queen’s are almost as good and about 2⁄3 the price. Overall, the food was adequate at best, tasting like decent frozen food. Now the especially bad parts. Part one, the service. It appears both from the slow service and overhearing the staff talking that our waitress was the only waitress for the entire restaurant, although there were a couple of other ladies helping with hostessing and clearing tables. This made for exceptionally slow service and long periods of unfilled iced tea(a personal pet peeve). Speaking of iced tea, it was some of the strongest, but worst tasting I’ve had in a while. Finally, the price was just not worth it. Assorted fried stuff(steak fingers, fried shrimp, chicken fried steak and appetizers for 3 people) for just over $ 50? Heck, it’s neither hard nor expensive to fry well. Springhill felt like one of those places you’d stop at on a road trip — the atmosphere and the menu look right, but the food and prices make you feel like you just left a tourist trap. Can I get a T-shirt at least?
