Adam’s Automotive and Transmissions

I’d give Adam and A+++ for a job (s) well done and can’t recommend him enough.
I bought a 2000 Isuzu Amigo and within a week had a bearing on the camshaft roll — if you don’t know anything about cars that is pretty much a destroyed engine.
Adam completely rebuilt the engine (seals, gaskets, bearings, camshaft, piston rings, etc, etc, etc) and put in a new clutch all for $ 1,400, which was a heck of a deal because he felt sorry for me buying a car and immediately having it break down. Very very nice of him.
When the check engine light came on a short while afterwards Adam fixed it for free even though it was a bad sensor and had nothing to do with the engine rebuild that he did. A while later the master & slave cylinders went out on the manual transmission, which Adam fixed at cost — again this had nothing to do with the engine rebuild either.
Basically I took him a piece of junk car and he has fixed it top to bottom for an incredibly cheap price with good quality work.
Other shops quoted me $ 3500 to $ 4500 just to rebuild the engine, which was way more than the value of the car. I can’t thank Adam enough for his kindness and hard work.
It is odd these negative reviews from other people because that is not at all the experience that I had. After reading their reviews I think that their expectations were completely unreasonable. Yes sometimes costs go up if more issues are found — that is the nature of car repair. From what I read in the reviews Adam kept them updated on the increased cost and only was asking them to pay for the parts and not labor. Seems very very nice of him to me.
My only negative is that it took him a little longer than he originally estimated. This is very minor and understandable considering the amount of work Adam had to do and that my car is an Isuzu which is not made anymore so the parts had to come from San Antonio which delayed things.

I needed a new timing belt. QualTech quoted me $ 907.00 and CarX quoted me $ 670.00. Adam replaced the timing belt, all drive belts, water pump, and flushed and filled the radiator all for exactly $ 300.00 out the door! The work was completed correctly in only 3 hours and 15 minutes. He did call to say I really needed new spark plugs and he could put them in for $ 30.00. I told him money was really tight and that I would just put them in later myself. Well, he put them in anyway and said «Merry Christmas and that he really wanted me to see those freakin’ plugs». He was right, those plugs were history! I covered the cost of the plugs anyway but that was really nice of him. As for Suellen with the used motor, one is always taking a risk with used motors. In any case I highly recommend this shop and while it might be a bit intimidating for the single female, don’t worry, Adam is a stand up guy! I hope this helps.

I was so impressed with this place.
I am a 19 year old female living on my own (no dad/​boyfriend who knows about cars) so it’s really tough and intimidating for me to go to a mechanic because I know they’re usually trying to get something past me (one time i went for an oil change at jiffy lube and I left having spent around $ 200 on maintenance tests/​checks that i just needed to have according to the mechanics there… just sayin’ i have no street smarts about this type of stuff).
ANYWAY one sad day i noticed my car was not hopping into 3^rd gear at a normal rate so I took my car to the mechanic (one i found on here that had fairly mixed reviews, but very close to my house and was open saturdays). He quoted me $ 2200 to put a junkyard transmission into my car. After searching around, Adam’s gave me the lowest quote ($ 1000 to rebuild my transmission…) and *get this!* a 2 year warranty.
Adam was also very flexible in car drop off/​pick up as I ended up dropping my car off around 9p that night (he was staying late in the shop to fix a guy’s car who was only here for the weekend) and he was very flexible with pickup (which happened on a saturday).
Now my transmission is running perfectly, I can accelerate at the speed intended for my lil ‘stang.
He’s very casual and accommodating yet down to business. I will be taking my car here from now on because I know my car is in good hands with this guy and he wont try to scare me into any unnecessary upgrades/​tests/​whatevers for my car :)
